Car seats for very, very infrequent use?

We live in a city without a car (the majority of residents don’t own cars) and there is no requirement here to have a car seat to leave the hospital, nor do you need a car seat to ride in a taxi. The only time we would need one is visiting in-laws/family, if we rent or borrow a car to go out of town, or possibly if we fly but I’ve heard mixed things about car seat usage on planes.

Any advice? We’re in the US but an outlier in terms of car culture. We also live in a one bedroom apartment with functionally no storage 😅 so it’ll only be one workhorse endurance stroller

Edit: I take taxis/rideshares very infrequently and do not plan on taking them 99% of the time with a baby. What I meant was that legally you do not have to use a car seat in a taxi/rideshare in my city

Can I request to be called for jury duty?

I was last called for jury duty pre-covid, probably 2018? but ultimately wasn't selected. I feel like my number is probably due to come up in the next year or two - is there a way to ask to be called now? My job would pay me my full salary for jury duty days and I just found out I'm pregnant, so if I were called in a year or two I would probably not be able to do it. I'm one of those dorks who actually believes strongly in civic duty and I want to do it!

Very first cycle and of course I paid for the annual membership about a week ago 😅

My mother had a lot of fertility struggles so I was preparing (and expecting) something similar. I thought I had a few months at least! But I guess this is (probably) happening??

My first chart and trying to understand what I’m seeing

I think I’m getting the hang of checking & logging CM and other things but I’m still trying to figure out exactly what I’m looking at. The monitor has been giving me a score of 53-57/100 but I don’t fully understand what is factoring into that. This is my first TTC cycle.

My mom keeps pressuring me to spend more time with my in-laws??

Admittedly, I don’t love my in-laws but it’s not without reason. We’ve got some history, nothing crazy compared to some, but I’m not a forgive-and-forget type. I’m more of a “plan for the worst case scenario based on past experience” and “expect the same until proven otherwise.” I get very (internally) stressed and anxious about walking into unknown environments or thinking everything is going to be fine and getting blindsided. We also live in the same city and I see them regularly and spend holidays with them.

Anyway, my mom doesn’t really want to hear me say anything negative about my in-laws ever or express any negative emotions about them, which has strained my relationship with her. I’m an only child and she’s my only parent. We’ve always been a team and can talk about anything and everything so this is a glaring change.

She keeps pressuring me to spend time with my in-laws (sometimes in front of my husband) and shames me and makes me feel bad for saying anything remotely negative about them. I’ve told her that makes me feel bad and isolated because she’s the only person I can talk to about things like this. She’s never really happy when I address it and responds that “I just want her to agree with everything I say, validate me, and let me vent” - which, like, yes?? You’re my mom???

Idk if I should just let it go or give her one final ultimatum to never make a comment about me spending time with them in front of my husband ever again. Because she just said something to me and my husband about me spending Father’s Day with my FIL and then acted all disappointed when I said I didn’t think so, and I wanted to spend time with her.

Iron or sew-on patch?

I have an llbean boat&tote from a conference which was a sweet bit of swag but I also don’t want to have the company’s name out and about every day. I’d love to cover it with something but it’s a large logo and bigger than more patches.

Are there sew-on needlepoint patch kits? Can I just use any small needlepoint canvas?

Can I get a manicure at LaGuardia today?

Leaving for a work trip and realized my nails aren’t done and idk if I’ll have time to go in my neighborhood before I need to leave for the airport.

I’m seeing conflicting info online about whether I can get a manicure at terminal C (delta) at LaGuardia. Has anyone done this? Do you know if there’s a place that can do it? Am I cooked??

BWT who have personal trainers - where do you work out?

Is it through a gym like equinox? Your building’s gym? In your apartment? Somewhere else?

I’m looking to get a personal trainer because I have a complex injury history and I’d rather have a personal trainer than end up back in PT. I’m not a member of any gym currently and although my building has a gym, it’s very small and I wouldn’t want to hog the space with a trainer if others want to work out.

working at a specialized high school?

I was made aware of a potential opening at a specialized high school and I'm wondering what it's like - the admin, the parents, the workload. I assume the vast majority of the kids are highly motivated but I'm not sure if there's anything else that's substantially different. I haven't taught at a DOE school before
