i had a tough psychiatrist session today. need some support.

hi everyone. 30f here. bipolar 2 rapid cycling since i’m 15 years old. i’ve been on so many medications i can’t even count on both hands anymore. a lot have failed, some have helped or stopped working.
my current regimen worked for 2 years, i was on lamictal, lexapro & propranolol for the panic attacks. the last 6 months my doctor has raised lamictal like 4 times, nothing worked. he tried wellbutrin that didn’t work. we added topamax and that helped, but it messed with my menstrual cycle so i had to get off of it.
we were talking today about trying one more mood stabilizer which is depakote, but he said he’s weary bc of the weight gain side effect. he mentioned that at this point my only other options are antipsychotics. and hearing that kinda broke me, not gonna lie. i just never thought that i would get to the point of needing an AP. and i also don’t want to admit that i need one. i don’t have anything against people who take it, they just personally scare me. i hear about all these horrible side effects. the weight gain. the akathisia. the tardive dyskinesia, psychosis. it scares me. idk what i expect out of this post. i’m just feeling really down…
i guess im looking for advice or support. idk :(

hi all, i genuinely need advice. please take the time to read 🫶🏻

29f here. i got diagnosed with rapid cycling bipolar 2 when i was 15 years old. i’ve been on and off medication since then because my mother didn’t believe in medication or getting me help. so, i pretty much suffered all of my life. until the last 3 years i chose to do it on my own finally and i have been stable on meds ever since. i never miss a dose and i make sure to take my meds at the same time.
my doctor put me on lamictal. it worked well for 2 years with a lot of increases, but the last 6 months i feel as if it stopped working. i’ve been cycling constantly between mania & depression. i haven’t felt like myself in a long time and i don’t know what to do. i’m on 200 mg of lamictal and my doctor doesn’t want to go higher.
i met with him and he mentioned antipsychotics. i know some friends who are on it and did some of my research and i’m scared shitless. i read about the horrible side effects, weight gain etc. but the thing that scares me the most is the akathisia (movement disorder). i read
that even after you take antipsychotics, it stays with you. that scares me. i need advice honestly. what would you do? are any of you on an antipsychotic and are you feeling better? i need help :(

why do i feel worse after exposure?

hi all. I decided to go to the movies tonight with my boyfriend because it’s been a very long time since we have and I really wanna start getting out there again, and I chose to stay there even though I was completely anxious. However when I got home I took my makeup off I washed my face, and my body started swaying back-and-forth like it felt like my equilibrium was off. And then my hand started shaking I’m laying in bed now and it still feels like I’m moving and I’m not everything just feels weird is this normal? Has this happened to anybody because I’m really scared something is wrong

Zepbound Vs Wegovy - anyone here?

Zep vs Wegovy

Hi all. Idk if anyone would know this, but do you think Zepbound has more tolerable GI side effects than Wegovy? I’m trying to weight my options. I want to start a GLP1, but I am nervous about side effects. Especially the nausea/vomiting one (I’m Emetophobic) & I want to know what I’m in for lol. Any advice is welcomed!

GLP1 advice

Hi all. I’ve been on Lexapro for a year now and I gained a lot of weight. My doctor recommended GLP1 and while I do wanna try it, I’m nervous about side effects. Especially the nausea/vomiting side effect. I’m emetophobic (fear of vomiting) & I just don’t want to deal with that. I want a GLP1 with the least GI side effects.
Anyone here on this medication and didn’t face nausea/vomiting?

i left the house today… and failed.

hi all 29f here. diagnosed panic disorder, GAD & agoraphobia. it’s really been a journey and a hard one at that. a lot of progress, a lot of set backs. a lot of giving up. it’s frustrating. before today i haven’t left the house since september. i had to go to the bank today for something important it couldn’t be avoided. all day leading up to me leaving, i had anxiety feeling lightheaded, etc. in the car i was so nauseous and just spacey. walking into the bank, i felt like i was gonna pass out but i just kept going bc i had to. talking to the teller i started to get hot. the more i stood there, i started to black out. the room was spinning. i ran into the bathroom and splash cold water in my face and did my breathing. i finished at the bank and left. my boyfriend took care of me after, gave me something sweet for my blood sugar and told me he’s proud of me. but i don’t feel proud. i feel defeated. i feel like im never going to be normal again. i came home and cried for hours. and took a nap bc my body is so tired from that. i just want to feel normal again.
i hate this life. i hate agoraphobia. i hate anxiety. i want my life back.

Is anyone on this for ADHD?

Is anyone on Welly for ADHD? I recently got diagnosed with ADHD, and my psychiatrist wanted to give me Adderall, but I wasn’t comfortable with that as it’s a controlled substance and I’m also on other medications and they interact. He told me Wellbutrin was an option. I’d like to hear your experiences :)

sprinkle cap vs tablets

has anyone started on the sprinkle capsule and switched to tablets and noticed a difference? i noticed that the capsule wasn’t really suppressing my appetite as much as id like it to. but 3 days ago i switched to the tablet so its easier for me (i take 100 mg) & i noticed that its actually not making me hungry at all. is it a different manufacturer or something? i’m very curious.

Hello all! 29F here. I met with my psychiatrist today for out monthly follow up and he asked me how things have been going. I struggle a lot with motivation and doing simple tasks like showering, brushing my teeth, cleaning, etc. I’m also in college and I told him that I might want to drop out because it’s just not interesting anymore. I can’t focus and put my all into it. I go to do my work and my mind is elsewhere. And then he started asking me all these questions, and he told me it sounds like I have ADHD. he asked me if anyone in my family has it and I told him that my Mom has it. So we had a discussion about it. I told him about my childhood and how I was pretty bad, and how I was in school, I was very disruptive in class, unfocused, a lot of outbursts etc.

Fast forward to today, he wants to put me on Adderall. I have my hesitations because I heard that’s a controlled substance and it’s addictive. Drug addiction also runs in my family so that scares me. And I think that medication would benefit me, I mean I am on medication for other things. (i.e. depression, anxiety, etc). What do you guys think of Adderall? Are you on it? Has it helped you? What side effects did you get? I welcome any and every advice 🩷 thanks!
