Thank god I carry my straw and Kool-Aid packets with me everywhere now that I've given up on Sawyer Squeeze. This puddle was prime.

Logo visibility on X-Mid 1

Is it normal that the logo shows up better on the inside of the tent than the outside? Any idea why that is?

If any employees and family members of the boot makers lose their homes to the fires, please do fundraisers for them and share them.

I've been through a total loss house fire. It's way worse than getting robbed. People don't think about having to replace everything you own even down to your socks. Even with insurance, it's not enough.

And there are immediate needs. Especially when people get out with just the clothes on their back as is happening for some people in Spokane.

Please start GoFundMes for any of your people if this happens to them. I think the community will want to help.

I know you all still have to run your businesses. I know it makes it worse when you can't work and your employees can't work. But don't worry about making our boots. We'll be okay waiting a little longer. Take care of your people, your families, and pets. Worry about our boots and all of the social media stuff later.

Some kind of pump for a cyndiler-shaped item.

Found at Goodwill. What purpose would this serve?

Intersection at East and Euclid is out, treat it as a stop sign.

Seems the cops might not even know this one. But you stop when the light is out. If it's blinking red or if it's out, it is a stop sign. If it's out completely, as in the case here, it is an all way stop sign.

I didn't feel like this rant could wait till Tuesday.

Why did you choose Daniel Defense over whatever other one you were thinking about?

And what was that next choice?

I've pretty well nailed it down to DD. Mostly just looking for insight into your decision to buy.

Right now I'm thinking about the 11.5 RIII or 12.5 GL/SSC. Pistol either way and then maybe SBR it. Will suppress it.

Why not the fan favorite MK18? I don't know, ballistics? But you tell me.

Primary use would be home defense and camping gun. Although, if I find a proper place to shoot, I might want to do some regular target shooting.

I shot the MK18 full auto, H9, and DD5 that at the Charlotte event today. I really wish I'd had more time to spend with them. That's fine, I appreciate them bringing them out and there were a lot of people wanting to shoot.

General thoughts on those. All shot well. The suppressor on the MK18 worked well. It did blow a fair amount of gas back in my face. The H9 shot well but I only had five rounds. The DD5 was front heavy and hard to stabilize the way they had it set up. It was suppressed, but was still loud and had a lot of concussion. Fun to shoot. As fun as mag dumping 10 or so rounds on the full auto MK18 is(10/10, would recommend), I really wish I'd had more time to spend with the DD5. That's a definite contender for a future purchase.

As far as anyone saying DD is over gassed. I'm sure they had these set up right since these are demonstration models. And yeah the suppressor on the MK18 was blowing gas back in my face but what do you expect with a mag dump? The recoil was nothing on the MK18 and DD5. I've fired a lot of guns that had a lot more recoil. I really didn't even notice it on these. Easy to shoot. I'd say the H9 had an expected amount of recoil but it wasn't bad.

The only time all eight will be together.

The top six are Survive! Knives GSO 5.1 with the very top being Magnacut and the other five being CPM 3V. Bottom two are Architect Knives AK 6.5 Magnacut and Reiff F6 Gen 2 CPM 3V.

These belong to my buddy and I. Recently picked up the Magnacut GSO 5.1 and the lower four 5.1's we got from the Micron Knives liquidation sale(they were delivered yesterday).

The second from the top 5.1 is natural micarta and started out closer to looking like the next two. But with use and oil, that's how it has patinaed. I use food grade mineral oil on mine since I cook with them while camping. So the others will no doubt darken as well.

I'm not shilling for Micron Knives. But they seem like decent people are selling their own knives as well as liquidating some of the remaining Survive! Knives inventory. Super fast shipping. We ordered these four on Saturday and they arrived on Thursday.

How much did your lace gap close up from new through break in? Does it depend on the leather type?

I'm measuring for custom uppers. There are just some variables on my end. So I'm just trying to understand how the lace gap should fit after extended break in and wear. I understand the aim is 1.5 to 2 inches in the beginning.

Right now I've got Shackleton Greener Pastures on one pair and DS Crimson on another.

I have Roanoke Denim on order. Is there a place in my lineup for Pacific Waxed Flesh? And if so, how would you configure each?

If you were considering both, how would you configure each such to not have them be too similar?

Either way they'll probably be ten inch tall BYO. But I'm looking for ideas on stitching, toe cap or not, sole, edge dressing, top, gusset color, anything.

I really am asking what you would do if you thought about ordering both.

Maybe one rugged and chunky and one dressy and sleek?

Or maybe they are just too similar.

Quality Check on improperly set eyelets from a high-end cobbler. How bothered would you be?

This was aftermarket work done by a high-end cobbler. They did not come from JK like this. The boots are great other than that. JK was great doing a really fast size exchange. This has nothing to do with JK.

Please read the comments for more info.

Any regrets, either way, about 8" or 10" height?

I'm debating strongly about three pair, two on order and one about to be placed, being 10" or not. Right now they are ordered as 10".

They are basically Trooper, Officer, builds with 430 sole. I swear if there was a 9" option I'd be set.

I'm balancing whether 10" is the right look vs functionality. I have thick calves which could matter.

Did you order 8" and now wish it were taller?

Did you order 10" and now think 8" would have been easier?

Edit: I saw someone once ask if another person needed 10". I do not on these. This is strictly aesthetic.
