If your class allows it, what top speed would you want to hit in second gear?

If you're in an autocross class that could change gearing (be it final drive, gearset, tires, any combo or all of the above) what top speed in 2nd gear should you aim for?

In this scenario, it's build it and leave it type of deal for the hobbyist. Not a multi million dollar firm where there's a specific gearset and final drive for every venue.

What's the ideal 2nd gear ratio where in 99% of courses you won't have to upshift to 3rd if it's too short of a second, or where you won't be tempted to go to 1 if you're bogging too much in the slower sections.

Pathfinders on Zodiacs: Always with the Carry Handle Iron sights ?

Everytime I see Pathfinders on Zodiacs, they always seem to have the carry handle irons.

Is there a reason for that? Can you not dunk the C79 on the water? Obviously we get rained on, snowed on, etc.. with them on in all kinds of weather, so weatherproofing isn't the issue, unless your specific C79 has failed. But is it not a dunkable optic? Can you dunk optics in water in general?

Hopefully this latest flap in cross border aviation industry encounters less turbulent skies ahead

TIL that Airplane! was released first in Toronto, June 27, 1980. Zucker, Abraham, and Zucker were worried that it wouldn't soar in the box office, so they had it test released in Toronto, ON and Buffalo, NY first.

Well, maybe I didn't actually learn it today. More like, a few days ago. Allowing me make this ahead of time, have it fueled up and on the flight line, ready to take off.
