PGY-3 subspecialty advice

Hi i’m a resident about to start 3rd year trying to figure out what to specialize in:

• i like creative procedures
• enjoy both microsurgery and large reconstructive cases
• enjoy fixing fractures
• want to have variety in practice
• enjoy treating people of all ages but especially kids
• i also want a job that will allow me to enjoy my family and other interests
• prefer not to have to do a ton of research as an attending

So far my favorite rotations have been tumor, hand, and trauma (in that order) though I think the quality of mentorship hugely impacts how I feel about each rotation. Haven’t done peds yet.

Everyone keeps saying that as a junior I have lots of time but I worry I don’t know what to prioritize / how to make this decision and that it’ll delay focused research and prepping fellowship apps. Any thoughts?

Playing Pokemon to help me exercise irl (not Pokemon-Go)

I’m playing Pokemon Fire Red on my phone with an emulator and using a "No XP" and an "Infinite Rare Candy" cheat code.

With the no-xp code your Pokemon get no xp through battle. So the idea is I get to use 1 rare candy for every mile 1 run in real life. Then I increase the miles after every gym: so after gym 1 i’d do 2miles for every 1 Candy, after gym 2 i’d do 3miles for every 1 Candy and so on. You can use whatever self rule you want.
I’m also doing 3 times the mile cost for cycling.

Was inspired by Ankimon for this. I know Pokemon Go exists, but every time I try to run or cycle with that game, I keep stopping to catch every Pokémon. Plus you don’t get any rewards for going to the gym and running stationary.

I’ve struggled to stay consistent with walking and running because most fitness apps lose my attention after a few weeks. This has been different because I actually care about progressing through the game. If I want my Pokémon to level up, I have to earn it through exercise first. It’s made me look forward to the gym in a way that other apps never did.

Has anyone else found a way to turn a game into a fitness reward system like this?

Here's the cheat codes if anyone wants to try, most phone emulators come with a cheat code option

NO XP

Made this to help me exercise irl

Using a regular Fire Red Rom with a “No XP” and an “Infinite Rare Candy” cheat code.

The idea is I get to use 1 rare candy for every mile I run IRL. Then increase the miles after every gym: 2miles = 1 Candy, 3miles = 1 Candy etc.
(also doing x3 miles cost for irl cycling)

Was inspired by Ankimon btw

FLUFF
Also making it a Flying monotype run with +1 mon per badge to make it interesting for me.

From 2011–2013, Dr. Christopher Duntsch paralyzed or killed 33 of his 38 patients during routine spinal surgery. In one operating room, a fellow surgeon had to physically drag him away as he mangled a patient’s spine. Despite this, Duntsch was allowed to keep practicing for two more years.

Has anyone ever gotten ticketed for going over the 2 hours in down town street parking?

I feel i’ve gone over many times and i’m wondering if i keep getting lucky or if they don’t even really check. Anyone know?
