We've tried several harnesses and he hates them all so much that putting them on/off was stressful for us both. I'm thrilled he doesn't mind the sweater! It's way easier/faster to put on than a harness since I don't have to struggle with buckles. If he continues to tolerate it, I'll cut a hole in the back for his leash and he'll be the most stylish cat in the vet's office! 🩶

Gatsby (2 y/o neutered male) has been having what I suspect is chronic GI discomfort causing episodes of severe agitation that our regular vet couldn't diagnose. He saw an internal medicine specialist yesterday, where he got an ultrasound that showed mild enteritis. He's also being tested for a liver shunt and I'm anxiously waiting on the results.
We talked about possible treatments such as diet, including limited and novel proteins, grain free, and "vegetarian" diets. I tried to ask more but she insisted we save the conversation for later if and when it became relevant.
What did she mean by vegetarian diet since there doesn't seem to be one on the market? Is "vegetarian" a label they give some pet foods that aren't technically vegetarian? If there is one, is It meant to be fed permanently or temporarily as a sort of detox?
I did some research but I'm unable to find a single cat food formula that is actually vegetarian. I thought maybe she meant hydrolyzed soy protein, but Gatsby just finished a 9 week Purina HA trial but I looked on the bag and it has chicken too.
DISCLAIMER: 1) I know cats are obligate carnivores, 2) This is a trusted vet specialist at a locally renowned clinic, 3) I'm not ignorantly forcing veganism on my cat, and 4) this has been a long, emotionally exhausting struggle so please be kind. All I want is to understand the facts in an unbiased way so I can do right by my baby. Thank you.

I little while ago I posted a video of Gatsby tumbling off the windowsill while hunting a bug. I had no luck finding a window grate that didn't use tension or screws since it's a double case window with a metal frame.
I learned you can buy individual Guinea pig cage panels. They stand up well but I might get adhesive magnets for extra security since I don't want it to fall on him, but they're lightweight so I'm not too worried.

Gatsby's hypoallergenic diet trial was a total bust, but lucky for him he can have treats and wet food again!
However it's back to the drawing board for his GI issues while we manage his symptoms with a probiotic. Switched him from proviable to purina fortiflora and it takes effect way faster. He has a vet checkup in 2 weeks and might try a probiotic diet with pre- and postbiotics next. Fngers crossed!
What a blessing
I was NOT expecting this when I put him in snuggle jail for his crimes. Gatsby has cerebellar hypoplasia, he's on the severe side and has trouble walking and balancing. He can't jump either but boy, can he climb.
He tumbled safely onto the couch behind me soon after but I'm overjoyed I was able to get this photo! 🥰
