I can’t get over how terribly written the Alejandro situation is (spoilers)

Sorry in advance for the long post, I just have so much to rant about 😭

So I’m rewatching DH and i just started season 8 and it just bugs me how horribly illogical the whole death of Alejandro thing is. I know a lot of storylines in this show defy logic, but this one just takes the cake for me, it was such a half assed cooked up dramatic ordeal for the whole season and it didn’t need to be that way. I don’t understand why Gabby didn’t just call the police after Carlos killed Alejandro and then told her guests about the situation and let them know that they couldn’t come in because the police were on their way. She panics about how Carlos will immediately be arrested and he’ll go to jail, which is what probably would have happened because you can’t just kill someone and not go to jail for a while and Carlos had a criminal record.

But, there is literally no way that he would have gotten a murder conviction and would have stayed in jail for a long time because what he did was completely reasonable and legally justifiable. This man not only broke into his house, but he visibly saw him getting ready to assault his wife, and so he protected her. Not only that, but a jury would never convict a man to murder if the murder victim was a child rapist, a pedophile, and was killed because he was about to rape his former victim AGAIN. Carlos would have been seen as a hero, not a stone cold murderer. The Solis’ could have most definitely afforded a good lawyer that would have told them all this.

The other thing that bugs me is the guilt from all of the housewives. I understand that no one can just bury a body and then go about their lives without having emotions from it, but they made the whole story revolve around this piece of shit person and it didn’t feel right for how much guilt these women were feeling over helping to cover up the death of this horrible monster who had no positive contributions to society. It felt like the show turned this guy into a martyr, especially with Susan’s stupid storyline where she went to visit Alejandro’s home with his family like come on dude. And of course it’s heavily implied that he was also abusing his other teenage stepdaughter before he died so how come Susan felt zero relief for saving that poor girl? And don’t even get me started on the terrible way they treated Bree, who was the only logical person in this whole situation. This was just terrible writing, hands down the worst season of the show.

Why didn’t Hank just drive away?

I’m rewatching BB and I just watched the legendary shootout scene with Hank and the twins in the parking lot. It’s a phenomenal scene, but I never understood why after Hank got the tip off phone call, he just stayed in the parking lot looking around instead of hauling ass and getting the hell out of there?? It would have been one thing if he had his gun on him and was prepared to defend himself, but he didn’t have any weapon and he only got lucky that the perpetrator was using a gun and it happened to fall into the backseat of his car as he backed up and ran him over, they could have easily had a knife and could have strategically attacked him or they literally could have had any other weapon and Hank would have more than likely been screwed. Even if Hank did initially think it was a prank, he still should have gotten out of there just as an extra precaution which he probably would have already known since he was a trained DEA agent, but instead bro sat in his car watching the clock until they came to attack him 😭

Lynette is INSUFFERABLE in season 7 😭

This is genuinely the first time I’ve ever been on Tom’s side 😭 Like genuinely what happened to Lynette?! She became so annoying to deal with in season 7. I hated when she completely changed Tom’s office because “oh she just knows better” and then once Renee changed it back to what he originally wanted and Lynette saw how happy he was, not only did she not keep her mouth shut about the initial change but she doubled down and got mad at him for liking his new office like bro come on 🤦‍♀️ When Tom buys her that beautiful ring when they go on that weekend vacation trip, she couldn’t even say thank you, and not only that but she complained about how much she loved her original ring even though she would always complain about it and make fun of it to other people like genuinely how can Tom even win with her? 😭 And I can’t believe I’m actually defending Tom but wow I kinda don’t blame him in this season 7. I’ve seen the whole show before so I know that they get separated and eventually get back together, but I really wish they had just stayed divorced and gotten together with other people tbh it probably would have been better for both of them.

Sellers never ship my items

Hey guys am I the only one that has this problem or is this common?? I’ve bought two things on Poshmark before, the first thing was a swimsuit and I waited a week but the seller never shipped the item so I cancelled. Then I found an adorable pair of shoes that I just couldn’t resist buying from a different seller and now it’s been about two and a half weeks and this seller also hasn’t shipped yet. What is going on?? I messaged both sellers and they never got back to me, usually I buy stuff on Depop and I’ve never had this problem before on Depop.

I feel like every show sucks now

Does anyone else feel like any show they watch now just sucks because it’s not even comparable to Breaking Bad? I’ve been a fan of breaking bad for years and I’ve probably seen it 5 or 6 times full way through at this point. I notice that when I finish watching it and if I move onto watching another TV show, I just find myself constantly comparing it to breaking bad 😭 like I hold every TV show to such a high standard now because BB is nearly perfect, and it genuinely makes it hard for me to actively enjoy other shows because I always think about how bad they are in compared to breaking bad. The only shows where I didn’t feel this way was the sopranos and better call Saul (although BCS probably doesn’t even count considering that it’s also in the breaking bad universe lol). But that’s because both of those shows are also nearly perfect.

My boyfriend looking up his ex girlfriend on Facebook, advice? (22m and 22f)

Hey guys so for context my boyfriend and I have been together for almost 2 years, it’ll be our 2 year anniversary in August. We met in our hometown and then happened to go to college in the same city where we started dating, and now we’re graduated and back to living in our hometown again (not together in the same house though). I actually knew his ex girlfriend when we were teenagers which is when we met, because we all went to the same high school. I was always kind of insecure knowing that he dated her considering she was really beautiful and was kind of like the it girl I guess. Anyway, their relationship really wasn’t that great though, I think they were together for around a year and a half and they had tons of arguments and broke up and got back together several times within that timespan. After they broke up, I believe she moved to a different city for college because I saw some things about her on social media after graduation, and her college is in a different state from us so I know that there’s no chance he’s been seeing her behind my back or anything like that.

Anyway, fast forward to now. My boyfriend and I were taking a little road trip together and he wanted me to search up something on his Facebook marketplace, so he gave me his phone and I went to Facebook to the search bar and I saw her name in his previous search history. I think she had blocked him because I didn’t see her actual profile, just the name popping up. I also saw that he had searched up her grandma or something which I thought was kind of weird, but after I did some investigative work on my own, I realized that it was because her grandma had a public profile and there were tons of pictures of her for the public to see that her grandma had posted. I got kinda pissed at him and he completely lied and said that “it wasn’t him” like dude come on, who else would have access to your Facebook searches 😭 I’m just wondering if I’m overreacting about this? I know some people are just curious to see what their ex’s are up to, I mean even my own parents have searched up their ex’s on Facebook for fun and they’ve been married for 22 years. I just wanna know if my reaction is valid or if I’m just being too insecure

Susan and Paul…wtf?!! (Spoilers)

Y’all I just watched the episode where Susan is having sex dreams about Paul and like genuinely what the fuck 😭 this made absolutely zero sense, like okay Paul gave her his kidney so now she wants to bang him ? Girl what 😭 It wasn’t even like a dream where she was just thanking him for giving her the kidney and being sweet to him, she literally wanted him to fuck her 🤦‍♀️ I’m sorry this shit was just disgusting, makes no sense at all, and was completely unnecessary

How did North Koreans even get Covid back in 2020?

Genuine question, I know Kim Jun Un has issued a travel ban since 2020 because of Covid but travel to NK wasn’t super common even before Covid, and I doubt that the tourists who did visit didn’t even go to enough areas to spread Covid in the first place. Obviously their own citizens can’t travel anywhere outside of NK. So how did North Koreans even get Covid? Or is Kim just completely lying to them and telling them there’s this crazy disease out there when no one has actually gotten sick? I really don’t see what he gains from doing that though since he’s basically already convinced most citizens in North Korea that they’re the best and really the only country on the planet

What if it wasn’t Otto Warmbier who touched the poster?

Hey guys so I was watching some videos of the Otto Warmbier case, and I watched the security footage that the hotel in North Korea had, but you genuinely can’t even make out what the person looks like. Like the quality is so pixelated and glitchy, it would be impossible to confirm if it really was Otto. What if North Korean soldiers just thought they needed to pick anyone to blame and he happened to be the unlucky guy? I think it’s pretty obvious that his speech was written by the soldiers and not him, the language used in it has very broken English and mentions strange things regarding the US, and it doesn’t at all sound like it’s actually coming from Otto. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Otto couldn’t have even told the court that he didn’t do it considering that they probably would have killed him anyway two seconds after he got out of that courtroom.

I hate technology and it’s ruining society

Specifically AI. It takes away all types of human creativity, intelligence, and common sense. To be honest, technology in general does that as well, but I haven’t really noticed as big of a lack of imagination and creativity since AI became popular and became a part of daily life. Humans used to be so interesting, honestly life used to be so interesting when we didn’t have a device to use to cater to our laziness. I have friends who literally just sit in their house all day doom scrolling on social media. When people use their own brains to solve problems, it makes them have higher self confidence and a greater ability to contribute to society. I’m a senior in college and it’s a shame because I’ve never known a life where technology doesn’t exist, yet I see humans in history back before cell phones and computers, and everything just looks so much better.

I rarely try to use AI for my school assignments, and when I do it’s because my professor requested it to be used. But I have friends who literally use ChatGPT for every single thing, like even for assignments that aren’t even graded. Like there will literally be a discussion post on canvas that is either worth nothing for the grade or is worth a small attendance point, and the assignment only requires two or three sentences, but people still put that shit into ChatGPT so they can copy and paste everything 😭 And then college students complain about how burnt out they are feeling and how depressed they are, well yeah maybe it’s because your using AI to do all your assignments like a drone instead of using your own brain, so now you feel like a moron since you actually haven’t done anything on your own to help you get through life. It’s just incredibly depressing that this is the way society is headed. In 20 years, people won’t even know how to spell their own names without using AI to assist them.

How do you think the younger kids acted once they got older?

I’m curious to see how y’all think the younger kids, specifically Juanita, Celia, MJ, Penny and Paige acted when they got older? One of the biggest themes from this show is how parenting affects children, and that can be seen with even the younger kids. I liked the 5 year time jump because it showed how these older kids were as teenagers and it allowed the audience to compare them to how they were as little kids. Me personally I think that Juanita and Celia grew up to be nightmare teenagers and gave Gabby and Carlos a lot of shit because of how spoiled they were as little kids, probably to a similar degree if not worse than Ana. I think MJ may have some behavioral problems and could have possibly turned into a Zach Young type of situation because of Mike’s death when he was so young. Paige and Penny were probably okay, I mean Penny seemed to be really mature and intelligent even when she was only a 10 year old, so I think she probably became a lot like Julie.

Mary Alice was selfish

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I always thought that Mary Alice was extremely selfish for killing herself because of a stupid note. Obviously the act of suicide on its own is a selfish thing to do, but she didn’t even really do it for a “good” reason. Like if you contrast Beth Young’s suicide in season 7 to Mary Alice’s, Beth basically sacrificed herself so that Susan could get her kidney and didn’t really harm anyone else by doing it. Paul didn’t really love her anymore and even her own mom had basically disowned her, so there was really no one in her immediate life who would have suffered extreme personal consequences because she killed herself, and she kind of did it to help someone else as well.

But Mary Alice had a husband who genuinely loved her and a teenage son, both of whom needed her. The note was vague and the whole “I’m gonna tell” thing sounded childish, if Martha Huber really had a huge problem with it and had sufficient evidence, she would have just gone to the police right then and there instead of putting a childish note in her neighbor’s mailbox. There was one point after Mary Alice had died where she was narrating the show and she said something about what she did she did to protect her family but that’s a load of shit in my opinion😭 There was literally no evidence that would have convicted Mary Alice and Paul Young for their crimes, Martha Huber probably had an idea of what they did, but she didn’t even know the full extent nor did she have an ounce of evidence or else they would have been arrested and not just blackmailed. If Mary Alice had just ignored the note and went on with her life, everything probably would have turned out alright to be honest. But nope, instead she offed herself and caused significant trauma to both her husband and her son. Also, if she hadn’t killed herself, then Martha Huber would have never died, and Paul would have never become a psychopathic monster. Zach probably would have never become a drug addict as well.

Carlos is such an asshole (spoilers)

I kind of have a love hate relationship with Carlos. Sometimes he’s super sweet and really genuine but then other times he’s such a raging asshole that pisses me off. I’m currently on season 7 in the middle of the whole Grace storyline and genuinely what is his problem?! I don’t understand why he doesn’t seem the least bit interested in getting to know his biological daughter. I hated how everyone, including Juanita’s biological parents, made it seem like Gabby was just genuinely crazy and obsessed with wanting to get to know Grace. I mean dude it’s literally her daughter 😭 And she’s Carlos’ daughter as well but yet he could care less. It also made me really annoyed how completely unsympathetic he was towards Gabby after Grace left and after Juanita found out that Gabby and Carlos weren’t her bio parents. Not only was he unsympathetic, but he was also MAD at her like bro 😭 How is it her fault that her baby got switched at birth? And I do agree with him that Gabby should get rid of all of the pictures of Grace because not only would that help Juanita heal, but it would also help Gabby to heal as well. But he didn’t show any genuine compassion towards his wife and just seemed completely annoyed and fed up with the fact that she wanted to keep pictures of her DAUGHTER 🤦‍♀️

I don’t understand Felicia…(spoilers)

I really don’t understand why Felicia was so hell bent on getting justice for Martha when she obviously hated her. She even said so herself after she had first arrived on Wisteria Lane and Edie came over to tell her how sorry she was about Martha’s death and Felicia was basically like “Oh I don’t care she was a terrible person” like hello 😭 but yet then she’s going to dedicate all of her time and energy into getting justice for her sister, so much so to the point where she literally fakes her own death and cuts off her own fingers? It doesn’t make any sense to me

Why does China see North Korean escapees as illegal migrants rather than refugees?

Hey guys so sorry if this is a dumb question, I’m not like super well-versed on international politics. I’m just curious as to why China sees North Koreans as illegal migrants rather than refugees? I mean North Korea is obviously not the best country to be in and their citizens go through hell, escaping is exceedingly difficult, so why would China have no compassion and would be so greatly against North Koreans who have bravely escaped their oppressive country, so much so that they threaten to send them back and they often do send them back? South Korea is extremely kind to North Koreans who have escaped, some South Korean soldiers on the border even risk their lives to help escapees.

My two biggest questions

Hey y’all so I’m on a rewatch for the trillionth time and this show is near perfect, I mean there’s literally barely any pot holes or any storylines where I’m like “oh this doesn’t make sense” despite the fact that some of the storylines are crazy lol. The writing is so great that every single thing that the characters do makes perfect motivational sense. But there’s two big things that kinda don’t make sense to me:

  1. Gus and the drug dealers: I’ve always been confused on why Gus cared so much about those two drug dealers that Walt ran over or why Gus was even bothering to associate with them. After watching Better Call Saul and BB, it’s pretty obvious that Gus only associated with people worth his time, and even then they were cautious around him, like Mike. Gus distributed the blue meth all over the country and was even planning to distribute it internationally. So why is Gus bothering to reprimand these two thug low level drug dealers who peddle dime bags to meth heads in a crime-ridden part of Albuquerque? And why does he even care when they die? They weren’t really needed for his business and could have been easily replaced. I can understand that he took it as a sign of disrespect against him from Walt and Jesse, but Gus is intelligent enough to realize that it’s not worth killing them because of it because both Walt and Jesse are extremely valuable to his empire. And it’s not like Walt killed them for no reason, it was literally self defense for his partner. I don’t understand why he felt the need to go to such lengths to train Gale in order for him to be able kill Walt, those two unimportant thugs were not worth it.

  2. The meth: The other big thing that I don’t understand is how Walt and Jesse were able to sell their meth at such a high price. Yes, their meth was the purest product on the market and was much higher quality than your standard bag of meth. But meth is one of those drugs where the user could not give a shit about the quality, they just want to get high. At one point, they were selling it for 40 grand a pound. I highly doubt that there was a scenario where someone from Jesse’s crew was selling meth to a meth head and when he told them the price, they were just like “oh shit I can’t afford that, let me save up some more money so I can buy it later” lmao no, they most definitely just said “fuck it” and went and bought shittier meth from someone else for a cheaper price. Meth isn’t a drug that is typically marketed towards rich people like cocaine, it’s marketed towards tweakers whose brains are already melted and all they need is a cheap fix. I just don’t see how Walt and Jesse were able to turn a profit off of charging so much money for meth from a customer base who can barely afford to buy a root beer from a motel vending machine (Wendy reference lol)

Hey guys so I just wanna see if I’m overreacting or overthinking because I tend to do that a lot, but I do kind of think that this is weird. So my boyfriend and I have been together for almost 2 years, our 2 year anniversary is in August. Pretty much for the entire time that we’ve been dating, he has always been very just secretive and private about our relationship to people outside of our family and our mutual friend group. Whenever he did eventually introduce me to his friends, he seemed really awkward and nervous beforehand and I really don’t know why. He was never nervous like that after I met them for the first time and got to know them. I don’t know if he was nervous that I was going to embarrass him or think less of him because of his friends or something which I never would have done, I don’t know, I just felt it was odd.

We dated during college and now we’re back to living in our hometown again because we just graduated. He had a job in our college town working as a host at a restaurant and he was there for about a year, and I would often meet him to hang out with him after he got off work, but he would always make me wait in the parking lot, I never ever went inside because he said his manager would get mad at him or something. And I only ate at his restaurant twice during the entire time he was working there, and both times were with him and our friends, and even then he was hesitant about his coworkers seeing me.

He’s always told me that he just doesn’t want them to get involved in his personal life which I do understand, however, there was one time a couple months ago where one of his coworkers from the restaurant who I had never met before reached out to me via instagram and said that my boyfriend constantly denies having a girlfriend to them which they all know his bullshit since he’s tagged in a million instagram posts from me and they all follow him on instagram so they can see everything (he also very rarely posts any pics or stories of me and him on his own insta). And she even told me that he made up some story about some new girl that he was dating. He admitted to this and told me that he made up the story so he could get his coworkers off his back about me, but I don’t know, I find that really just strange and weird. Anyway, now we’re back to living in my hometown and he doesn’t work at that restaurant anymore but he has a new more professional type office job, and once again, he never lets me come inside or talk to any of his coworkers. He doesn’t put pictures of us or of anything in his personal life up on his desk or anything. I just find it really bizarre how private he is.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts/comments on here recently talking about how Bree had zero development and just got worse and worse as the show went on, but I completely disagree. I’m not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but I’ve seen DH probably 4 or 5 times now as this point and I always believed that Bree’s problems (her alcoholism, suicidal ideation, cheating etc) were all a part of her development and her journey on not being so in control of her entire life and the people in her life. Bree’s main issue is control, she needs to control what her house looks like, how her kids behave, how her husband behaves, she even needs to control the narrative on how other people see her and her family even if what they see is completely inaccurate to what is actually going on. In season 1, Bree is a major control freak whose hair doesn’t even move lol. But by the middle to late seasons, she’s more laid back, less focused on getting approval from other people, and is able to recognize her faults and talk about them to the closest people in her life instead of pretending that they just don’t exist.

Which is a lot more than you can say about someone like Susan whose faults were present in season 1 and were the same if not way worse by the last season, and Susan was so blindly unaware that she didn’t even believe she had faults to begin with 😭

The way Bree reacts to other people also greatly changes as the show goes on. Like when Andrew first came out as gay, Bree basically told him he wasn’t going to heaven and he needed a priest to “save” him or something. But then a couple seasons later when Andrew is mature, Bree loves him and accepts him so much that she literally buys a house for him and his husband just so they won’t move away to live with his mother-in-law because she would barely ever see him again. I think people miss the point of Bree’s personal issues. Her personal issues aren’t necessarily meant to be seen as faults, but more as growth into her acknowledging the deeper problems that she has in her life, which she eventually does completely by the end of the show.

Hey guys so I guess this is just like a small thing or something but I’m curious on the storyline of the last episode of season 5. In the beginning when Mary Alice is narrating the story of what Lila and her daughter were doing the day that they died in the car crash, she makes a comment stating that Lila’s last thought before she died was “ What Dave would do without her. Luckily, she would never know.” I know it’s just a narration thing and not a big deal but I assume that Lila probably would know, considering that it seems like in the world of desperate housewives, ghosts definitely exist and all the characters who die still know what’s going on and can watch their loved ones live their life. Since Mary Alice narrates everything most of the time, she clearly knows what’s happening. Same with Edie and Rex, who also narrate their own episode at one point, and when Rex narrates, he talks about everything that had happened after he died as if he was a ghost in Bree’s house watching everything. Like I said, just a small thing and obviously Lila wasn’t a main character so she wasn’t going to narrate any episodes, but it just seems like every dead character in this show is still constantly aware of what’s happening with their loved ones, so Lila would have definitely known what Dave was up to, even if she couldn’t interfere.

I’m on a rewatch and I’m just curious on what the general opinion is of the best season storyline throughout the show. Each season is pretty cool because there’s always a new neighbor who’s looking to cause some sort of problems for a personal hidden reason of theirs (until the last two seasons where the villain was Paul Young again and then the four main characters themselves). I’m not sure if this is a popular or unpopular opinion but my favorite storyline is honestly probably the one with Dave Williams. I thought it was really well-written and his character was well acted, I first watched that season when I was a lot younger and he lowkey scared me as a kid 😭 My second favorite is probably Angie’s storyline (mainly cause it’s interesting and I love the sopranos so it was really nice to see Adriana on the big screen again lol). I also liked the serial killer storyline with Eddie. My least favorite has to be the Applewhites, they were decent actors but it was just really boring and the whole plot seemed really unnecessary and completely disconnected from everyone on Wisteria Lane. Like I feel like it would have been a lot better if the girl that Matthew killed was someone who had lived in the neighborhood and was relatively well-known, but some random girl being murdered by some random people that the audience barely knew just felt unnecessary for the show.
