Thinking about pulling the trigger on a CPO 2025 xc60 T8 core, anything I should be considering

Local dealer has one of the few CPO phevs in the area, a 2025 xc60 with something like 20k miles
I drove it and loved it, was clean, and the price would be something like 37k with Costco deal and everything

The only thing giving me a little pause is it being used and the mileage, but the CPO kind of eases that a bit, I think I would be covered for something like 4 more years.

The only other thing is that I did end up sitting in an Ultra and the extra bells and whistles were definitely nice, but I do think the core is pretty much good enough as is l, the only thing I would be really missing out on that I care about are the ventilated seats and the 360 cam

Anything else I should consider before pulling the trigger on a 2023 RX350?

Been in the market for a while, went back and forth to a bunch of dealers.

Currently considering a 2023 Lexus rx350 premium with 35k miles for around 44k otd

Test drove it and it was clean and nice, interior was fine. Relatively clean car fax report. I’m still probably going to do a pre purchase inspection but is there anything else I should consider before making a deal?

Used plugin hybrids something to avoid? Whats with the massive deprication im seeing?

In the market for a midsize or smaller SUV, typically ive been looking at normal hybrids, but that has introduced me to plugin hybrids. On paper, the concept seems amazing. I could do short, grocery store trips purely on electric. Theres also incentives to buy, which i like

But then as i start looking, I see used PHEV vehicles have depreciated a ton, compared to their new prices. Cars like the 2025 Volvo XC60 or the Mazda CX 70/90, ive seen a bunch of used inventory for half, or less, what it went for new.

Now of course I understand used cars are used and obviously a used car is going to be less, and cars depriciate, but do PHEVs depreciate much faster than "normal" cars? Are theremore issues with used PHEVs that cause that much depreciation?

Im not too worried about further depreciation and what I would be able to sell it back for, what I am worried about are signifigant maintenance issues that I would take on buying a used PHEV

Confused about the Lexus car buying/dealership experience, is it even possible to get below msrp on new?

Houston, Texas area. So after lots of research and test drives, I’ve narrowed it down to an NX 350h AWD Luxury, in nori green with tan or white interior

I was at the local dealership today and talking to the dealer and he was explaining the buying experience, and he more or less made it seem like with the color/trim I wanted, I would likely just have to put a deposit down, wait on a waitlist, and pay msrp (along with window tinting if I wanted it)

Now I have read a lot and do understand that NX’s are selling well, aren’t getting much discounts, and especially in that color they don’t really make it to the lot. With all that being said, is it actually pointless to try and get below msrp? Is it not even a thing, or is there still some haggling?ii

Confused about the Lexus car buying/dealership experience, do I just take msrp?

What other manga should I read that can give me similar vibes as Toriko

Toriko is probably my favorite manga, specifically because of the world building and characters. I love how “side” characters stay relevant through out the entire story and how the world is expansive and mysterious

Some manga that I feel give me the same vibes are Magi, and most recently Versus. What are some others I should read?

Disease/pests in my lawn, or just what happens to lawns in a heatwave?

Northwest of Houston, Texas area. Grass has massive dead spots and spots that seem to be doing ok. Some family friends claim it’s chinch bugs, but we’ve also been going through a pretty decent heatwave with no rain so I’m thinking that this is just what happens to lawns during heatwaves. I do have a sprinkler system that goes once a day, but probably not enough to really help

I did notice the green grass areas are all the areas that receive the most shade, which makes me think it’s just the brutal Texas sun killing the grass and there’s nothing I can really do

But maybe it’s a combination of both? Also, I’m on well water so I don’t have a water bill, should I consider watering way way more?

Buying a car for the first time and want to test drive around 4-5 cars, should I expect to space it out over several days/dealerships?

Have been narrowing down mid size SUVs and have a few different ones I want to go see in person and test drive (RX 350h, Rav 4, Crown Signia etc)

I’m trying to get an idea on how they drive and whether or not I like one significantly more than another, to the point where I would pay significantly more

I want to go and spend a day test driving and checking out cars but I’m kind of worried about wasting dealers time, especially because I wouldn’t necessarily be looking to buy that day

Any advice on dealing with this invasive vine that constantly comes back?

Houston, Texas area

Two rose bushes are constantly getting overgrown with this vine, to the point where the roses are doing terribly and dying. My current approach is to leave it until it gets overgrown, put on gloves and ya k as much out as I can, then come back in a month and see it’s overgrown again.

Clearly that is not the best strategy, so I need a better approach. At this point I’m considering just clearing the entire bed, ripping anything with a root out of the mulch, and starting from scratch. But just wanted to see if there’s something better to try first

Reached out to some painters via Thumbtack, learned that contractors are charged a fee just to recieve leads

I guess I never really thought about how it worked on the contractors end, but I was pretty surprised to learn just how much a lead costs. I have been using thumbtack for a while happily and used it again to find people to paint a bedroom

Someone responded and they came out for a free estimate, and they seemed great and we will likely go with them. But while going through the estimate he let me know that thumbtack charged him $40 JUST TO SEND HIM THE LEAD, so regardless of if we hired him or not, he was out $40 already just for coming out

I had assumed thumbtack gets a cut of the job but finding out that they charge just to send out leads made me pause. I guess it does make sense, and is somewhat justifiable, but still, felt bad

Window inserts for portable AC units, should I buy a third party insert ?

Bought a Midea Duo AC unit that has one of those big AC tubes that get vented out through a window. The included insert seems kind of flimsy and not too great, or maybe its jut me being terrible at installing it. Seems like theres a lot of gaps i need closing up

Ive seen this site https://martinsonmanufacturing.com/pages/about offer their own inserts that look a lot better and seem to work better. But should I even buy that, or should I just buy foam to fill in the gaps of the preincluded insert

I bought one of those massive, 11ft patio umbrellas (Hampton Bay) without realizing it doesn’t have wheels. How difficult are they to move?

I impulse bought one of these umbrellas online and got it today, only to realize it doesn’t have wheels or an easy way to move it once set up

I haven’t filled it with sand/water yet and am holding off until I figure out how easy it is to move. We do get frequent storms (Houston) so I do feel like I would need to be rolling it in and out of the garage or shed easily

Is it something that I can take care of with a moving dolly, or am I going to want to spring for a rolly base?

How often are you checking your chemicals if you have a saltwater pool?

Before I switched over to a swg, I would check weekly or even more often if I. Priced it was cloudy/had algae etc etc

Initially when I got a swg, I was still maintaining checking pretty often, but once I got the chlorine production mostly dialed in, I’ve been noticing I haven’t really had to do much. Pools clean, levels are fine, no algae, so I’ve started to go longer without actually checking.

Does anyone else only check on an “as needed” basis?

How much responsibility does "the stock market" bear in the capitalistic nightmare were all in?

Ive been thinking about it a lot and it feels like "shareholder value" is ruining everything. Corporate Overlords are able to make way, way more money by making the stock price go up, instead of actually...making a better product (ideally the two would go hand in hand but it doesnt.)

So instead of actually working to make a better product via having better, happier workers, they instead just make stock line go up

Every job seems to be focused on squeezing as much profit out of as few resources as possible, no matter the industry

Been having an extremely rough few weeks at work (IT industry) where my company decided to get rid of an entire team and just shift the burden of their work onto me. Pretty much par for the course when it comes to this subreddit, im fighting back against it, but in the meantime ive been complaining to some friends in other industries/fields

And they are all going through the same thing. Company gets rid of a team and just shifts the work to an "exemplary" employee, so they can just pocket the money without any consequences. Even my doctor friends are having it done to them, they are being asked to do the job of a chief of staff without the title, because hey, if they can do the job of two people, we save money right?

I just had to vent because I cant imagine how stupid these people are that they just think its some magic solution that wont cause problems. "Of course, why didnt i think about it earlier! Lets just stack all the work on that one worker who is good, its all so simple!!" They never take burnout into consideration

Getting rid of low spot where water pools in yard without the use of French drains?

Water always pools here, luckily it’s not near any walls or anything, but I still don’t like how much it pools in that one spot

The issue with digging French drains is that there is a long, underground electrical cable buried practically right under where the water pools (possibly why it pools?) so I’m hesitant to have anyone dig

Is there anything I can do to stop water from pooling without having someone dig? Does the standing water really even matter if it clears up in a day or so?

Want to learn to handle a shotgun, but not sure where to begin

Have a handgun and am comfortable with it, but have never held or shot a shotgun. Ranges near me offer rentals, but I think I would want at least some introductory basics on how to load/fire etc. do rental ranges typically also provide a crash course when renting?

I looked up lessons, but the shotgun ones seem to be multi hour long sessions
