Swiftie friend ended our friendship

I’ve always had difficulty keeping friendships. I’m extroverted and never had problems meeting people or starting friendships, but keeping them has always been hard. I’m opinionated and not sorry about it.

Anyway, I am adamant about there being no ethical billionaires and posted recently about Taylor Swift donating before her wedding, but it’s only 1% of her income. My friend responded to my story sticking up for her saying she does more than others and saying it was sad and gross that I shared this on her wedding day. I responded there are no ethical billionaires and they could be sharing more, and he blocked me! We’ve been friends for YEARS. My birthday is the 12th, and he knows I get anxious about it thinking everyone will forget.

Just here to vent and that it sucks 🤷🏻‍♀️

On Prevacid, okay to add Pepcid?

I have hEDS and have been on Prevacid for about 20 years because the sphincter where my esophagus meets my stomach is always open. I have the trifecta of hEDS, POTS, and MCAS, so I take Zyrtec and am tempted to try Pepcid on days when I have breakthrough acid reflux, but also to help as an H2 blocker. Would that be too much and cause damage?

Jellieband Alternative

I have hEDS and POTS, can’t afford PT, and frequently have lower back pain with SI joint issues along with poor posture. I’m 42 and this has been an ongoing issue since I was a teen. I’ve looked into the Jellieband, but I’m apprehensive since it’s pricey and have seen mixed reviews. I also have sensory issues, so thinking about wearing something tight is a nightmare, but thinking about using it when I’m out and walking around. Does anyone recommend a cheaper alternative to start?

Horror Nonfiction

I read “Scream with Me” last year and keep thinking about it. Any other nonfiction horror books, preferably with a feminist lens, that are somewhat similar?

Looking for a cane

About to turn 43 and have avoided getting a cane for a long time. I’m headed to NYC soon and taking public transit, and there’s no way I’ll be able to do it without a cane. I don’t want an elderly looking one. I searched for one previously and was overwhelmed. If you have any recommendations, please include links and/or suggestions with what I should look for! Thank you all so much.

Finally went to the dentist!

Since I haven’t had dental insurance since 2018, I barely go. I’ve gone twice since then, and the last time I went two years ago, I was told I had a cavity. I went to a new place today, and as nervous as I was, it was a great experience! Two cavities filled and a cleaning that only took an hour, and they also gave me a warm pillow behind my neck AND a weighted blanket sprayed with lavender oil! I told them in advance that I’m TERRIFIED of needles, so the dentist put numbing gel on both teeth for awhile, then used the needles, so I didn’t even feel them!

I’m so proud of myself for not only looking for a new place but finally going! 🎉🎉

Switching from gel to cream

After a year of trying to manage almost daily (small) pimples, I’m switching back to tret cream. I’ve been using tret 0.05 gel (and rx azelaic acid 15%) since August every night, and between the breakouts and ongoing dryness/peeling, I’m going to give this a shot. I’ve always had combo and sensitive skin, but the acne increased as perimenopause started, so I switched from differin to tret.
Has anyone switched from gel to cream, same dosage? Should I expect a purge?

Perimenopause is wreaking havoc on my skin

I was on differin gel for all of my 20s and 30s, and my skin was pristine, but has always been combo. It was pristine because I was harsh with it, using benzoyl peroxide cleanser every night despite the burning! I started breaking out when I switched to OTC differin and when I turned 40 (about to turn 43). I’m on a high dose of HRT since I’ve been in peri since my early 30s (the worst). Started using tret 0.025 last March and increased to 0.5 gel since the cream made my t-zone super oily. Overall skin tone and acne is better, but I continue to break out almost daily, or throughout the day. I’ve thought about adding spiro, but the side effects freak me out.

AM:
Thayers pH Balancing Cleanser (saw a difference with this after switching from dreaded Cetaphil)
Bubble vitamin c/niacinamide serum (added three months ago and done purging)
RX azelaic acid 15% gel
ROC retinol correxion eye cream
LRP Double Repair Matte Moisturizer (will use moisturizer on makeup days)
House of Hur or Skin 1004 Centella SPF

PM:
Double cleanse with Clinique TTDO cleansing balm
Thayers pH Balancing Cleanser (or PanOxyl if 🍕but won’t use tret after)
Tret 0.05% gel nightly
Hydroquinone 4% (recently prescribed)
ROC retinol correxion eye cream
Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion (started doing the sandwich method two weeks ago and noticed some improvement)

Horror Movie Buddy?

I love horror movies and there are a few I want to see in theaters, but they’re not as fun seeing them alone! Dying to see “Obsession” and “Backrooms” in particular, but this is an ongoing thing because I love the movies. I live in lower Bucks, about 25 minutes from Northern Liberties. Who’s in??

Sex and the City Season 1 Carrie

I’m in my 40s and I’ve watched SATC for over 20 years a million times over. Watching it again, and Season 1 Carrie screams Cancer to me, especially how she is with Big. Passive aggressively communicating with him (he’s toxic af too), wanting the mother’s approval, needing a sign from him, and being a total sucker for love despite alllll the signs.

This is all in good fun!

Candid Photo

My friend took this photo of me yesterday, and I’m shocked out how I regularly look. Forward head, rounded shoulders and posture, locked knees, and my feet! Not being critical, but seeing it reinforces no wonder I’ve been in pain for decades (I’m about to turn 43).

For the record, the lighting is wonky and I have purple hair! Not blue ☺️

How to get started

I’ve been curious about shadow work for years, but no idea where to start. My therapist has been extremely helpful, but I’d like to explore this on my own. I’m also a therapist. I need clear directions because if up to myself, I won’t keep up or forget (thanks, ADHD!). Any apps, websites, resources you suggest for a newbie but well-versed in therapy like me? Thank you!

Acne after one dose with B12

Thanks to perimenopause, my face has been a WRECK the past few years, and I finally got it under control earlier this year. Well, two weeks ago, I took sema with B12 and am back to having acne daily. Waking up with pimples, or going throughout the day and pimples popping up in the evening. I only took one 0.5 mg dose and stopped. I know everyone is different, but anyone with experience when this subsides? I use a benzoyl peroxide wash, azelaic acid, and tret (not all at once of course)! 😩

Don’t have the strength to date

I’m in my early 40s, and I’ve always done the relationship thing then be single for a bit. What I struggle with is dating someone for a couple months. I’m enjoying myself but stress about if I have the strength to hold out and see where it goes. We’ve had the convo about what we want, and while I want to give it more time, it’s rough! For context, I’m a Cancer sun, rising, Mercury, AND Mars (all in the 12H), but then I have a Leo moon and Sag stellium.

Anyone interested in 2 tickets for the Brooklyn showing on Saturday 5/30 at 9:30 am? I’m traveling in and it’s too early for me due to my physical disability. I’ve tried contacting the venue a few times but haven’t heard back.

Just took my first dose from the new pharmacy, and the pink color freaked me out. Like what in “The Substance” is this?! I’ve been on semaglutide for a little over a year and finally got my menopausal acne under control. I ordered two months of it, but am thinking of switching companies afterward. I haven’t pay out of pocket since my insurance doesn’t cover it. Thoughts? Experiences? Recommendations?
