Barely made it home last night!

Stanley is quite fond of the back leg hang, that arm twisted though…

My attempt at disappearing 9

A family member gave me all of the pink, not being a fan of the color I decided to make something and donate it. I almost gave up because after cutting the 9 squares and working on arrangements, I kept seeing a certain symbol of hate…

Once the top was put together I realized these were my grandma’s colors!

Another one done!

I wish I would’ve hoarded more thread when Joann’s was still around.

Last night Stanley Yelnats learned his origin story

He did seem to react to the scenes with yellow spotted lizards although I think he was sleeping for most of the movie!

They have the best/worst timing

I saw a urate this morning so I let Stanley run around the bathroom before I left hoping he’d poop. As I sit down at my desk I get a notification, I think the fact he makes eye contact with the camera just makes me feel like he held it to be a little punk.

First quilt done!

I have officially finished my first quilt! I don’t like making decisions so I did double sided so i could try different things such as putting ties in on one side and machine stitching the other. I knew I wanted a satin border because I like them best so I machined one side and hand stitched the other.

All hand stitched dust bowl era squares!

My mom decided that I could see my great grandmother’s quilt squares today. She doesn’t know all of the history but for sure the latest they were made was the 1940s. I recognize many names on the friendship quilt but didn’t know any of them. If she were alive my grandma would be 102 so that gives context considering these are her mothers.

I did not realize how much they use their tails!

I put food in multiple spots as enrichment. This hanging mushroom has been Stanley’s favorite recently, while hanging out on the couch I thought he had learned to fly. I did reach in to give him something for his hind legs to stand on but he kicked me, so I guess he was content in his odd position.

Also yes I do give him pellets/dried bugs, I’ve read it’s not the best. I purchased it for when I had family watching him and they didn’t do insects. He gets a pinch every few weeks and I cover it with greens. It gives him a bit more variety, and he stay familiar with it incase I need someone to watch him again.

Best way to offer supplemental water?

So I know water is not usually needed but we are in a heatwave and I think Stanley Yelnats wants water. I always spray the salad after I place it and today he lunged at the bottle and licked/bit it. I’ve had a little water dish (he doesn’t recognize it) in there for few days because he’s hanging out on the cool side of the terrarium most of the time.

We’ve also had a couple of power outages where his ambient temperature has gotten up to 90 so that hasn’t helped. He’s also getting ready to shed!

I turned my back for 30 seconds!

I left Stanley Yelnats in the window unsupervised for less than a minute and he took chomp out of my orchid despite him being surrounded by greens.

Is there anything I should do for the leaf? It just started perking back up.

It’s nontoxic although he may get an upset stomach, I’ll keep an eye on him.

I have made a wonderful mistake!

I asked about where to start with quilting a few days ago. I spent the majority of today working on cutting squares, piecing and sewing…now I’m hooked(I had too many hobbies to begin with).

I realize knits are the worst thing to start on but pillow covers in my own home are allowed to be wonky, and all my scraps are knits.

Tomorrow I might make a trip to Michael’s for some cotton as 90% of my stash is either not great beginner material or is from Joann’s(not sacrificing it for learning).

Where should I start?

I realize how vague this question is and I will give context. I have wanted to make a quilt for years and have kept fabric scraps for this purpose. I have being sewing since I was a kid(at least 20 years, submitted projects for 4-H every year) so I have decent skills and knowledge, but not specifically related to quilts. I know I should not start with a huge project but I also know I struggle to stay interested in small projects.

Are squares and triangles the most common shapes? Would it be a good use of my time to sort through my scraps and cut them to some standard sizes?

Questioning all his life decisions

He fell asleep in my office last night and I just turned him into a towel taco to put him back. When I walked out to see him this morning he looked so dazed and confused.

How I actually know if a cut needs medical attention?

I am clumsy individual and have learned decent first aid from all of my adventures. I currently have a cut to the bottom of my foot from a piece of glass that is not actively bleeding but oozes anytime I bear weight(I'm toe/heel walking), one end seems deeper than the other and the edges don’t close unless I make them. When it happened I just did my thing of cleaning, wrapping it up with gauze and coband. I did have the thought that it might need liquid bandage but wasn’t sure if it would work on the bottom of the foot. The gauze was red all the way through but not soaked when I took it off for the video.

At this point in the evening only the ER is open and this is definitely not that level of urgency, but I am wondering if the urgent care copay is worth it considering its in a highly mobile area and its still bleeding after 3 hours. At this point, it will be in the morning so at least 12 hours if I go.

Could these be from the same animal?

Found these two within ten feet of each other in my parents yard, and I’m wondering if they could be from the same animal and what it could be. I see gnaw marks on the first one but also looks like it’s been cut with a saw, the second one makes me think of a deer antler.

Rituals/suggestions for a toxic relationship

I am already planning on doing a cord cutting, but I'm curious about if there are other things I could do. I feel like a cord cutting isn't enough to break free. Without going into too much detail I can say that I left this person years ago but still feel like they could show up at any moment, nothing about that time was healthy or safe. I feel the need to say I am in therapy and do a lot of art to process things. Recently I have been feeling the pull to do a cord cutting which is what got me thinking of other potential spells/rituals.

For the cord cutting I am going to put rosemary, lavender, and thyme in the salt. I am also planning on putting pepper around and cloves in their candle.

This is one of the stops on his circuit

Stanley Yelnats has a circuit of platform, tree, shelf, branch, dirt that he likes to cycle through everyday. I have never understood how or why he sits in this spot, sometimes he’ll even sleep there.

Is there something up with Stanley’s tongue?

I thought I saw spot yesterday but didn’t have my phone to get a picture. It looks like he has a sore or something where the forks meet. He’s eating normally now, but he’s going to be pet sat next week and I’m worried of what could happen if it gets worse while I’m gone.

He did get cactus about a week ago, could he have a missed spine stuck in there?

I did not realize hairdos were controversial

I have posted Millie with her dyed Mohawk and pigtails many times and never seen any hate until a few days ago when she was politely begging for a chicken nugget. Like, oh my goodness y’all are feral!

As you can see I don’t force her to have pigtails, she was probably half asleep when I called her and she happily laid down after I stopped recording. As for the coloring, pets with distinct colors or grooming are less likely to be stolen and are more likely to be found if lost. Considering she is a working dog, a bit of dye is worth the extra effort as insurance to me(plus it is cute). I of course use a specific pet color.
