My favourite character(s) as a 25 year old girl who's watched skins several times since 2014.

When I say several times I mean I genuinely hope that when I die I'm shown a screen with statistics for how many times I watched certain shows lol

My fav characters have changed many times during the years, but I can say with a fully developed frontal lobe that if I could only save two characters from an apocalyptic scenario...

It would be Katie and Emily.

For one, I'm biased because the women on my dad's side have the twin gene and I could end up with twins if I was in a good enough head space to have kids one day.

I love their bond, their language, their individual styles yet the way they still had the same hair colour as an unspoken homage to each other.

The way they're polar opposites in some ways but still able to completely understand each other.

I love the way Katie brings out Emily's fun side and I love the way Emily grounds Katie.

They're both good girls that can own up to their mistakes and also funny AF.

Hot take: Mini and Frankie not getting together was completely realistic.

Fight me on this.

If Mini had bisexual tendencies it always seemed like she preferred men and would end up with one. It's normal for girls to mess around in their teens then move on like it never happened. Mini was too conformist and repressed to ever officially enter a same sex relationship and Frankie was too troubled to even think about relationships.

Also worth mentioning season 3 was filmed in 2010/12 where most people were still very homophobic and this is why lots of girls during this time had similar feelings to Frankie and Mini but never acted on them.

Mini ending up getting pregnant by Alo and presumably later ending up with a "the one who got away" story happens in real life all the time.

My introduction to Lana.

Be me in 2012. You're 12 years old and struggle to find people who relate to your retro aesthetic or good artists to listen to.

Lana Del Rey appears on your TV via her h&m advert and you count your lucky stars you were able to easily find out who this angelic voice and unique style belongs to.

My first and favourite song of hers after seeing this advert became "Blue Jeans" and hasn't changed till this day.

A form of advertising that I genuinely don't mind having worked on me.

Ann Russel... I love her but sometimes she should really just be quiet.

I agree with her on so many things and love the way she's straight to the point and has that dry British humour but the video she posted hero-worshipping doctors for dismissing a lot of people with invisible illnesses during the pandemic seriously rubbed me the wrong way. Basically one of these people who think unless your arm or leg is hanging off that you have no business going into A&E when people died during COVID from their stomachs rupturing due to conditions like appendicitis and being forced to wait profoundly long hours in A&E while doctors treated "visibly" sick people.

Please Reddit do not automatically remove my post for mentioning words that talk about politics when people like her spout about politics ALLLL the time.

My child alter is too stubborn.

I love her so much and I know it's not her fault she does these things, but sometimes I just wish she'd stop interfering. The dolls around my house that I have to end up explaining to people who ask if I have kids. The single bed I can't throw away because she feels uncomfortable with double beds. The way she talks- the ways she's so childish that makes me cringe when I look back at messages that I genuinely don't remember sending. She's scared of men and relationships, she doesn't feel sexual attraction, and I end up feeling so confused when I return and I don't know why loads of men I know suddenly dislike me. She depends on our parents too much. She exhausts them even when she knows we love them. She has such specific food tastes. There's food I can eat that would make her vomit. She hates potatoes, meat, cheese or basically anything that isn't sugar or an energy drink. We've lost so much weight because she's always so stressed. She's the one who wants justice but she's not the one who's sensible enough to achieve it. She makes herself look bad. She makes ME look bad. She makes all of us look bad and weak. But I could never judge her or hate her. She sleeps with 3 teddies. They take up most of the bed but even when she's the only one who cuddles them and I don't have interest in them, I panic when a single one of them falls on the floor. I clean them with dish soap and a toothbrush and spray them with her favourite perfume so she knows now much I love her. I just get frustrated with her because she doesn't understand why she can't act the way she does and how I'm the one who's left with the responsibility of cleaning up her mess.

Highly symbolic dream I think definitely meant something because I remembered it even after going back to sleep.

The dream: I'm on a plane and a significant global event happens. I don't know why. I don't know if this is an evacuation plane or just a plane I happened to be on when the event occurred, but the people on the plane with me aren't anyone I recognise, just confused extras.

The event in question: something that makes all landscapes, surface, mountains and forests disappear. More than likely a cataclysm/major tsunami. All I can see when I look out the plane window is a sunset, water and clouds. The pilot flies for what feels like a long time in dream land and during all this time, the sea is all anybody can well... See. There's nothing left of the earth except the ocean. Everyone is calm despite the circumstances but internally panicking because all we know is this plane is gonna run out of fuel at some point.

A random ant appears and I point it out to everyone before I wake up IRL. The ant seems significant because ants are associated with colonies and this one was solo.

What do you think this all means?

Rating how much my crow friends love the particular foods I've given them because I feel bad for oversleeping and not feeding them for a day.

Bird seed 10/10

Bread 10/10

Bread rolls 10/10

Crackers 10/10

Toast with peanut butter 11/10

Bread sticks 9/10 because they fall off my windowsill more easily

Pitta bread 9/10 because of the same issue as the bread sticks lol

Bready products are given in moderation and torn apart so they get equal sized pieces because I'm scared of them getting angel wing but I know a tiny bit of carbs for filler won't kill them when these are the same animals that occasionally eat roadkill 😂

Chopped apple slices 10/10

Chopped grapes 10/10

Strawberries 8/10 idk why but they never finish them

Blueberries 10/10

Tomatoes 7/10 they're a bit hit or miss with my crows

Cucumbers 8/10 (in summer they love these for the hydration)

Cheddar biscuits 10/10

Unsalted pasta 10/10

Cereals (rice crispies, cheerios, granola, weetabix) all 10/10

A nice helping of birthday cake I gave them on my birthday last year after tearing off the icing or anything that could get stuck to their wings 100/10

The rare leftovers I have from McDonald's chicken nuggets and chips or my leftovers from a KFC popcorn chicken meal 100/10

Roast beef 1000/10

Mackerel 10/10

Plain beef burger 15/10

Sausage slices 15/10

Pepperoni slices 20/10

Chopped bacon 25/10

Plain potatoes, any kind 10/10

Unsalted nuts 10/10

Blueberry muffins 100/10

There's more than likely foods I've forgotten but my main rules are keep it healthy, give them treats just like you would with a child and do your research before feeding them anything to ensure it isn't toxic 🐦‍⬛ when I write out the majority of the foods I've given them it honestly makes it less surprising that I've gotten the occasional worm as a gift from them 🤣

Edit: for the people frothing at the mouth because I feed crows bread as part of a balanced diet... I know they aren't the same bird species but there have been documented cases of ducks suffering from starvation because people in parks fell into the "bread is inherently poisonous" line of thinking and didn't think to give the ducks an alternative food. If there's days you need to restock on bird seed but you still want to feed crows, one or two slices of bread torn into strips isn't the healthiest choice but it probably won't fill them up enough to make them neglect other food sources.

Fully coherent talking animals are the norm. WYR have a cat friend who never fails to make you laugh or a dog friend who delivers hard truths when you need them?

Wanted to make my hypotheticals harder for ya'll but I thought "You know what? Let's just make this one wholesome" :p

There are no downsides to this alternate universe, animals are the exact same but they also just so happen to converse with humans.

Cat friend can be serious at times but their best attribute is their humour. Dog friend isn't a fun sponge all the time but they like being philosophical if you're making bad life choices.

WYR make 1 dollar for every time you yawn or make 1 grand for every time you insult someone?

Rules for option 1: you can't make yourself yawn on purpose, they have to occur naturally.

Rules for option 2: any person you're insulting has to be bigger than you.

Judge TF out of me based on my taste in women as a bisexual 25 year old woman.

Don't hold back... I'm curious because a lot of the time I actually prefer women but I never date them because I live in a country where it's legal but you're still ostracised for it in some cases

WYR stay in a room with a polar bear for one minute to earn 1 million dollars or live in the same house as your worst enemy for 1 year for 2 million dollars?

You can't avoid the polar bear in any way, they'll see you enter and leave the room, you CAN survive but it's a matter of knowing the bears body language and not doing anything to provoke it.

You also can't avoid your worst enemy, you obviously have different rooms and routines just like you would with any housemate but it's a daily requirement to talk to them for at least half an hour.

What I thought was a crow squawking for no particular reason at my feeding area... The true answer is adorable

*be me around 4 days ago*

You hear loud squawking from your kitchen windowsill and assume it's a crow that wants some attention because you've already given out food.

You go to check on them in case it's a crow that needs some help.

They continue squawking even after you greet them so you approach the window to open it.

They fly away. "Crow" is clearly fine. You breathe a sigh of relief.

Be me today. You hear the exact same squawking from your bedroom windowsill (yes I feed my birds at two different windowsills because if not there will be a civil war between crows and pigeons)

You investigate further and get a closer look at this noisy little "crow".. you see they're in-fact a fledgling rook accompanied by their mother/father who was placing seed closer to them out of encouragement they'd feed themselves.

Baby rook continues to use their mighty decibels to beg their parent to place the food directly in their mouth.

Parent rook is patient.

Parent rook is calm.

Parent rook continues to enjoy their succulent seed meal while baby is begging.

Parent rook has probably had various other babies and they've mastered being tolerant 😂

Baby rook caves and eventually eats the seed directly from the windowsill. You feel like a proud parent too.

You play peekaboo with baby rook for a couple of minutes and they seem to enjoy it.

You realise just how much the birds you've been feeding for just over a year must trust you when they're introducing their fledglings to you.

You love life a little bit more. You thank God for blessing humanity with friendly gothic dragon friends.

Edit: I annoy myself by looking for bad grammar in my own posts

Bear making the wish with more purposeful wording:

Jackdaws are so endearing and sweet.

Love every corvid and jackdaws in particular are actually so cute. The Disney-like eyes, the fluffy tummy's, their stylish little grey shawl, their noises that sound almost like a mix of young primates, puppies barking and a squeaky toy all rolled into one 😂 Sometimes a whole row of them make noises just to say thank you for breakfast and I can tell they're doing it specifically for my attention because they'll always stop when I acknowledge them back, usually by saying "You're very welcome my little car alarms" 😂 They're highly social birds with strong family ties and I've had Jackdaws introduce their fledglings to my feeding station after establishing I'm no threat 🥺 second cutest corvid are definitely rooks. Big friendly giants that make me feel like a proud mama when I look out my window and see one digging in the grass for worms in the happiest little manner 😆 Before I started bird watching I wouldn't have been able to distinguish different crows at all but now it comes completely naturally to me.
