Ac running a lot during the heat wave. Mowers knocked it out of whack. Read the compressors oil will lean to the side and shorten the life.

Bogleheads age

I’m 56, is this a good sub for a newbie that has been rethinking all investments? Wasn’t sure if geared towards the younger crowd as a late starter.

I’ve been watching a few investment subs and wasn’t sure if there is one geared towards the older crowd.

Beginning to understand

It’s crazy how the law works with investment brokers. I understand they should get a bite. But, if you dig into the legal jargon and how they can avoid answering your questions. How their charges work, it’s criminal.

I can literally ask what fees I’m paying and because how the law works they can say none, yet when you dig there are numerous fees. Hell, financial advisor can mean numerous different things.

This world of finance sucks. Basic ordinary people just trying to make it and have a few years of their life that they have left are getting screwed.

If you are young, don’t trust anyone. Hate to say it but 50 years in and now realizing it.

It’s very sad just thinking about how many people are getting fucked

Expansion tank and house PSI

Two years ago we had a hot water heater installed with an expansion tank. We signed up for a monthly payment plan to get 10% off. The service provided ac/heater/plumbing inspections.

During the plumbing inspection they found our pressure valve was bad, 100psi in the house.

Should we have them revisit the expansion tank pressure?

Ball bearing hinges

Just replaced a few doors that always squeaked after 3 months of lube.

Was so tired of the grease and grey crap around the hinges. Loving them thus far.

Employment LTD question

Should I seek an employment lawyer. I am currently on LTD through a 3rd party. I’ve been out of work for 7 months, assume it will be longer. I’m concerned I will be terminated or offered a severance package to step down. If offered should I accept or not is what I would ask a lawyer.

Down spout question

Our gutter spout detached from a drainage pipe. I started looking into it and it looks like an aluminum dryer hose is housing the black drainage pipe, like the drainage pipe is inside a dryer vent hose if that makes sense. Nothing is attached to the coupler.

Every time it rains water runs down the side of the house. Is this normal? I thought there would be a pvc pipe running out into the yard with a popup.

I was hoping to post a picture here but doesn’t look I can.

Ameren bill breakdown

I’ve had some time recently to look at surcharges on bills. Looking at Ameren and a couple are “sales delivery charge” and “columbia municipal charge”

So do I have this right?
Basically sales tax - columbia municipal charge, .0752 per CCF

sales delivery charge - maintenance and billing @ .495 per CCF

Also MO local sales tax.

These are just a few. If sales tax goes up does this affect my gas bill?

Sidewalk void

Needing to fill a void under our concrete patio. Had a clogged drainage pipe that ate away at the soil. Anyone recommend a company and maybe an estimated cost?

Thanks

Fort Knox audit(Gold)

Can someone explain how this isn’t a thing already? I keep reading about audits on our gold.

As audits go I feel like this could be done so easily and yearly at the very least. Hell you could have this done with automation.

Why so difficult

Why do they make the outside coils so difficult to clean. Why don’t they make the exterior easy to remove and replace. Spent 2 hrs trying to get the holes lined up and the casing reinstalled.

Should I cut or throw away?

3 plants just not doing anything but looking like shit. Never had this issue before. They don’t drink, grow, etc. I’ve flushed twice now.
