Tonight’s forecast calls for thunder and lightning. 🌩️

It wasn’t the best lighting, but I couldn’t resist the moodiness. 🖤🤍

I know this is a little OT, but I designed and named this ring in homage to The Empyrean.

It’s meant to look as though a dragon’s claw is clutching the gemstone, with the rest of the setting airy and flowy to lean into the fantasy vibes. I call it Lightning Wielder, in large part because the gemstone throws blinding flashes of light. Very few people recognize the name or its inspiration, but I knew y’all would get it. Thanks for looking!⚡️

P.S. I did not personally make the ring, so I can’t take credit for it, nor am I selling or otherwise monetizing it. I sourced the loose stone and worked with a local jeweler to design and fabricate the custom setting based on my vision, as a gift to myself for my 40th birthday. 🤍

All I wanted for my 40th birthday was a 10-carat diamond and a dragon wearing headphones. 💎🎧🐉

I call her Lightning Wielder. ⚡️

I posted my loose diamond (10.09 carats, F, VS1) a few months back and wanted to share an update now that she’s been set in her custom mount! 🤍

She’s a lightning bolt. ⚡️

Lightning Wielder is finally here! She is my (now belated) 40th birthday gift to: me from: me. 🤍

P.S. My local jeweler said this was the biggest diamond they’ve ever set (and they’ve been around since 1986 too)! 😯

AAAHHH

My custom mount arrived today and I just dropped off my diamond to be set. It should be ready within a week. The claws are so fierce, they stabbed my rep! Lol.

I took Virevolte La Dragonne on her first roadtrip!

I visited my family’s lake house recently and took this shot from their porch. I thought it turned out well, so I wanted to share. Thanks for looking! 🤍

Coming soon… 👀

I’ve been working with a local jeweler and their design partner to create a setting for this big, bad girl. The “wax” mold (it’s a 3D print, neat!) arrived today. The real deal will be platinum. I’m calling her Lightning Wielder. I can’t wait to share the final results with all of you in 3-4 weeks! 🤍

Merry birthmas to me!

I was helping my partner deep clean this weekend when we unearthed a gift card my parents gave one of us last Christmas. He said I should use it, so I bought this little toi et moi as a belated birthday gift (turned 40 at the end of June) from all of them, lol. My parents also gifted me the solar-powered turt! 🐢💚🤍

My mom bought this alexandrite ring for my 25th birthday. Today is my 40th.

She’s been well-loved. 💙💚💜

Can I pick your brains about a possible setting?

Hi, r/jewelry!

I plan to consult and work with my local trusted jeweler about this custom project, but he’s on vacation until the 17th. In the meantime, I’m trying to finalize my vision and wanted to tap into your collective expertise about something.

I have this loose diamond that I want to set in a ring. The two most important features I want in my setting are as follows:

  • Three big claw prongs along the top and bottom of the stone, meant to evoke a dragon claw grasping it.
  • Split shank (the wider, the better).

While hunting for real-world settings, I could not find many if any that match my vision. There are plenty of designs with the split shank and four claw prongs on the corners. I know I could probably start there and request the additional prongs, but a lot of them are missing gallery rails too. The last thing I want to do is lose my diamond.

I eventually came across this “Esra” setting from Valley Rose Studio and I was wondering if something like this could be modified to suit my stone? I would want a thicker, singular shank, among other slight tweaks, but before I show this to my jeweler, is there anything I should know or consider?

Thank you for any insights you can provide!

This is Virevolte. She’s easily the coolest ring in my collection. 🎧🐉
