My 3rd post here (sorry)

15 months in and my progress continues. Between 6’3 and 6’4. Starting weight 430. Current weight 200. Started with calorie deficit (1200-1500 per day). Added16/8 IF a couple of months in. Started cycling in December. Kept up the defect and IF for 1 full year. Now I’ve added more calories back in to help fuel my workouts. I continue to lose fat and currently 9.9% body fat (7.5 subcutaneous and just under 2 visceral).
My first bike ride was 4 miles and my heart rate was close to 200 ( thought I was going to die lol). Around 6 weeks ago, I and my longest ride of 102 miles with a max heart rate of 145.
I’ve gone from a size 56 waste to a size 34. I wore a 66” jacket and now 39-40.
While I no longer stick to the 16/8 IF as I need fuel for my rides, there’s zero doubt that it was the reason I was able to go from too big to want to get out of my chair to the point I was able to actually add activity.
I ride 150 to 300 miles in a given week and walk my pup around 9 miles per week at a 4mph pace.
I now own a mountain bike, an EMTB, a gravel bike, an endurance road bike and a performance road bike and just bought a Zwift (2 rides in) as I’m in Florida and hate when the rain keeps me from riding.
(I had several questions about loose skin last time and while it’s not tight, fortunately, I don’t have a hanging skin issue. I’m not sure why as I expected it.)
Each step of my journey: deficit, IF, cycling and then even adding calories back seem to kick start the next 30-40 pound drop.

In May of 2025, I didn’t want to walk to the mailbox. Today, I can ride a bike over 100 miles…if you’re struggling, know that when you decide to do something about it, you can (assuming you don’t have some health related issue that I didn’t have to deal with). I was likely at the end of my journey a year ago…with my will to change and the support received from those around me, my new journey is well underway.

I apologize if anyone is tired of seeing my post here but my progress keeps getting better (along with my blood pressure, resting heart rate, vo2max, etc.)

Pics obviously not in order (sorry)

NBD! SuperSix with dual Garmin pedals and the 1050

Bought a Giant Revolt in April. Prior to that, my only experience was hard tail mountain bikes. Love the Revolt! Bought a Trek Emonda soon after looking for a little speed with a comfortable geometry…skip to yesterday after putting 6000 miles in this year and I’m looking to push my limits with a racier style. First ride out was today just getting used to the bike and the Di2 and my avg speed was 2.4 mph faster than either of the other 2 bikes on the same 16 mile trip. Love the SuperSix! Love the electronic shifting and the data I get from the Garmin Rally RK210s and 1050! Couldn’t be happier. Now if I could only figure out how to keep the sweat out of my eyes!

P Zero Race TLR 40mm slicks

Got my first century (miles) a week and a half ago on stock 45m Crosscuts and I’m looking to try it again this weekend on these 40mm Pirelli’s. Spun them a couple blocks just before the rain today and I think I’m going to love them on paved roads and hard pack. If the test ride is any indication, I might just add another 20 miles. Rolled very smooth on 40 psi and I may drop the rear to 33 for the ride. (6’4” 215 pounds)

Having a little fun with my ‘13

In the absence of time or setting, I’m having a little fun with AI

First Century! (Riding a Revolt Advanced 2)

Got the trophy yesterday in the Florida heat. Started at 6:30am and should have started earlier. Felt great for 60-65 miles and the it’s like someone climbed on my back lol. Thought about giving up but kept pushing. Sore back and legs….wouldn’t change a thing.
The 100 miles finished off a 260 miles week!

My first Centuy

Started riding this year and I’ve been very consistent usually hitting 20-40 miles. My longest until today was 66 and I thought it was going to kill me lol. I’ve been focused on short hard rides during the week maxing out my heart rate and on the weekends, I usually shoot for 30-50. I rode 44 on Friday, 44 yesterday and felt good when I left this morning so I just kept going (like Forrest Gump). Back and legs are spent but due to proper fueling and hydration, I don’t think it felt as bad as my 66 mile ride…. I suppose the negative in a century ride is the time commitment and the fact that it eats up the day with riding and recovery. I’m sure I will get faster and need less recovery with more training but overall, I’m very pleased with the effort. Extra points for doing it in Florida where the temperature is lava.
Bike: Giant Revolt Advanced. 45mm tires

Also, yes, I dispelled Century in the title but can seemed to change it now lol.

Alright Sea BlackBerry….where you at? I’m lake hopping!

Adidas cycling bibs are better than average. I like them as well as my Assos and other more expensive brands. They seem to hold up well also. 45 miles in north Central Florida…hot. Damn hot.

Old and loud

Yep, too old for this but watch me wear it anyway. The shoes are way more comfortable than I thought they’d be.

Boring White Stan

Love these with khakis. Stan’s are a pretty boring shoe but they seem to just work for a casual look. Big fan of the gum sole.

Daily Stan; Toy Story Rex the dinosaur

In my top 10 (probably because they match my car). I wear these more than most I have as I just like the color. I should have purchased multiple. From the name on the bottom (“Stan” instead of “Andy”), the color, the transition lace color, and the gum sole, I just really like this shoe.

Daily Stan, Snake

These are iridescent and light up brightly under direct light. I’ve only seen these a couple of times and wish I would have put less wear on them but they are in my top 10 of my collection. I do wish they came with a black bottom but they still get a lot of attention.

I know it’s cheesy…

My wife is an anatomy professor and I knew she would appreciate it. I am loving the Stan Smiths….VeloStan.

Daily Stan! VeloStan…clipped in

Found these on sale when I started cycling and bought 3 pair….yes, I expect to be made fun of in my cycling bib. My wife is an anatomy professor and I knew she would appreciate it. Do you worst LOL.

Gravity pole

I was looking for something simple in my spare room (office) to help maximize floor space. Just put this up and so far, I really like it. (Delta Cycle 2 bike gravity pole from AMZ). At $54, seems like a good cheap way to accomplish the task. The closet space is simply storage and I don’t need access often and if needed, I simply move the bikes.

Daily Stan! Dipped and ugly…but I like them

I know they aren’t for everyone as I certainly get all kinds of feedback when I wear them but I like the uniqueness of them. I think more feedback on these tends to be negative than positive so I expect the comments to be similar. I have uglier Stans lol, I promise.

Stan’s Chinese Porcelain

Not sure they are my favorite but they’re in the top 10. Came out in 2022. You can still find them relatively inexpensive. They look lighter in the pic than they actually are.

Too old part 2

Got mixed reviews on my last post….how are we liking the black jeans with the gray flannel Stans. (Shirt untucked this time)

I’m too old for these jeans

I might be too old but I really like them. I’ve worn them once and had strangers (multiple) stopping me to ask where I got them.

I have a problem

I’m out of space. I have another 30 or so. My family was too poor in the 80s to buy them when half the school was wearing them. I’m making up for lost time. Guess you could say that I’m a Stan fan.

Picked mine up Wednesday.

Traded my 21 Tundra in. I loved owning the Tundra but never enjoyed driving it. It’s a great truck, it just didn’t excite me. And the gas mileage was 12.5 on my last trip (yes, I drive fast). The Tacoma feels like a driver’s truck. I’ve always owned full sized due to having 3 boys. Now we are empty nesters. I’ve always wanted a Tacoma, just couldn’t give up the space. Put the new decals, steps and bed step on today. Powered leather seats, 14 inch screen and a lot more bells and whistles than the Tundra. 80 miles in so far and I love this thing!
