Dairy free and gluten free meal options?

Hey,

Do any of y’all have recommendations for meals that don’t include dairy? I’m seeing you all have great meals but I see a lot of dairy I can’t eat and that also affects the amount of protein I consume. I’m not a volume eater so not sure how to resolve this. Thanks!

Edit: I don’t like to eat meat everyday so that is why I’m asking also.

Marriage issues during long term underemployment

Hi,

I’d like some advice about next steps for my marriage… with my husband (34m) and I (29f) being low income. We have moved twice being married and my husband has had bad luck with long term employment. My husband has been in and out of work the last 3 years due to contracts ending or just quitting due to the worst job he’s had ever (working literally 24/7).

Our marriage has struggled because of this and we know DoorDash and other things like that aren’t super smart. We have no car at the moment but I work from home so there are no issues with the majority of our income or getting groceries and things like that. The struggle is is that in combination with underemployment (my husband now has had a part time job for a year) and some long term issues with stability and communication issues… I’m struggling seeing the point in staying where we are. I want us both to be good independently; I didn’t expect us to have such a hard time finding work and being married. I want to be close to my family and we are close to his but they are also low income so we don’t see them very much.

It’s just weird and I don’t know what to do and honestly I just need a fresh start. I can move with my job but with all the talk of ai who knows if it will last much longer and I am scared because the city we live in seems to have a scarcity of jobs that pay at least $23+ which is what I currently make. I don’t want to leave my husband but he just feels like a sinking ship (even though every time someone looks at his experience they say it looks great so not sure why he is just part time etc etc). I also would like to get more education but it is hard to get into that mindset right now. Anyone been in or is currently in this situation and how did it go or how is it going?

Tl;dr: My husband has been chronically underemployed the last few years and I am scared that it won’t change. I need advice of what to do because I feel like we could be poor anywhere and I don’t think it’s good to stay in our city with the current economy.

How to function in relationships?

Hi,

I’m currently suspecting I have adhd (at the least) and my husband has possible bipolar or adhd also. I have struggled a lot with our relationship and my husband has also in different ways.

We have these conflicts about very small things and then we go to 0 to 100 and have had several issues with verbal communication generally. Him and I have meltdowns and I have no idea how to stop them.

Are there ways you have handled these issues, and would it only work once we’re regulated? Neither of us are medicated and I am just thinking that all of this would just end in divorce even after the psych evaluation and the therapy/meds. Have any of you had similar relationships and how have they gone for you?

Returning Skater wants Black Skates

Hey,

I roller bladed when I was younger and recently went to the skate rink and very much enjoyed it. The news is I found out they only had quads to rent! 😩 I would like to buy my first blades returning as the quads weren’t my cup of tea.

The first boot in the photo slide is one that I tried on that I really didn’t like. I don’t like all the straps everywhere it’s hard to skate and all the different materials threw me off. The second boot is more of what I’ve been looking for except I have only found it on the eu site and it’s $80 to ship. Are there any recommendations for all black skates or the ones pictured on sale in a U.S. store? Thanks!

Best places for psych evaluation and therapy?

Hi,

I’m seeking a place that accepts major insurances for mental health care services. I’ve noticed several places across the city but wanted to know if there are any places I should definitely avoid or that are well known to be good. Thanks in advance!

Diagnosed before having kids?

Hi,

My husband and I don’t really talk about having kids but just wanted to get a sense of direction. My husband has a feeling he might have bipolar or adhd and wants to get it checked out. I actually think that before we even think about having kids we make sure that we have or don’t have certain illnesses. Is this something you all have experience with? My mother passed down depression to me and I think it is important to recognize that.

Birthday Ideas

Hi,

My birthday is in late July and I am thinking of celebrating my birthday with a staycation. Are there any recommendations of places to stay and things to do? I keep seeing these hotels at like 250 a night by the foothills but I’d like to have a good experience for all around 500 at most including everything. I’m not sure if I’m looking at the right places. Should I try AirBnB? Any personal experiences? Thanks in advance.

NC Father but Trump Mother

Hi,

I’ve been no contact with my father and his family for two years. There were a myriad of reasons including my father’s gf, my brother’s no contact with our sister, and my narc grandmother. One reason that didn’t seem like much at the time was his politics. He had been enamored with Trump since 2016 and seeing his brainwashing in full force made me realize his true thoughts and feelings. I was disappointed to say the least. This didn’t really effect me until once my husband and I lived with him for a short time. This was when I realized who he had really become and we quickly moved out. My husband and I are intercultural and the hidden Trump hats in his closet really rubbed us the wrong way; it felt like our closeness was fake; like he was faking his understanding and friendship. On top of all this my family’s closeness was deteriorating and we felt like the black sheep. At the time we thought it was because my sister was low contact with everyone but it was just the narc family system trying to find its next victim. I cut all ties when we moved out of state.

In relation to my mother, she has been the character of my life I describe as my platonic “twin flame”. We have triggered each other but also learned from each other. My husband has found our relationship amusing and I could agree with that. When we get upset at each other we don’t really fight but just have a lot of attitude with each other and get over it. For this and many other reasons, I haven’t had much of an issue with her. She is selfish but I cannot change that so I accept it. To relate this to my father, I believe my mother is actually a covert Trump voter. She plays along with me and my rants but based in my family and the direct friends my mother has, they are all pro Trump. I’m not sure if it’s just a generalization but this bothers me. She is religious and I respect that but everything is just starting to add up and I don’t like it. I believe I am the only liberal in my immediate family and my husband and I go to protests.. and the whole nine. The thing is is that all of these “pro trumpers” in real life don’t say much to our face about this and act kind. I am so awestruck by this phenomenon. It’s like they like our presence but have this wall of judgement. I’m scared that this situation is getting to me and I’m not sure how to handle it in the future.

Do y’all have close family like this, and what has been your actions? FYI; no violence has occurred in my family related to my no contact all of this has been mainly emotional

HR Admin to Workforce Planning [N/A]

Hi,

I'm currently 3-4 years into HR but mainly an HR Admin specializing in TA tasks like hiring and requisiton management. I have been interested in positions in Workforce Planning at my company, but I'm not sure if I am understanding the roles completely. Have any of you transitioned to this type of department? I'm currently under HRIS but am not being promoted to a higher role; while a workforce planning role seems to have a bit more opportunity at my company. Is there a basic definition of workforce planning? To me, it looks like a scheduling type role, but is there some relation to what I am doing currently?

Thanks in advance.

New Owner and Management Question

Hi,

My apartment recently switched hands and us tenants were required to pay one month with a cashiers check or money order no exemptions because their payment system wasn’t implemented yet and it made several residents struggle to pay on time (with extra fees required depending on bank). They took no regard on the previous rent payment history before this occurred. Is this normal? I would think they would waive fees for residents for this situation?

Also, they changed the requirements on our renters insurance and had us upload our current policies when I would assume they would have access to these documents. I now have to pay a $25 fee to show my renters insurance that I already had that was valid because I didn’t upload it in time. I am a bit lost on this whole process.

Is this normal for transitions? It seems like the new owners don’t care that this is an inconvenience to residents and I would assume they would have this information from previous owners in order for the transition to be smooth.

Trouble deciding Major

Hi! I can’t decide what major to pick. I’m currently in HR (admin level) and wanting to make more money. I don’t think I want to get an HR degree. In community college I was interested in accounting, paralegal studies, and psychology. I am pretty flexible with my interests but want to be realistic with my potential career. Should I stick with Psych or Law or go into Accounting? Anyone have the same issue? What did you end up studying?

Transfer Credits for Start Date in June for Health Sciences B.S.

Hi all,

I just got admitted to UoP. I have a decent amount of transferable credits before I start so would those be evaluated before the term start so I don't get auto enrolled in courses I already took?
