Over a year later, I’ve finished the rest of the command squad plus a commissar (other than basing). Absolutely no more DKoK infantry will be painted by myself for my army unless they release grenadiers, or a stand alone Marshall.
Now for more tanks 😏
You can see the subtle improvements and changes of the painting method - it started with Leviathan, most others are in the middle, and has ended with the Aethan Shaan, Assault Terminators, the Redemptor and finally Armageddon box.

The characters have been kitbashed, including making the jump chaplain non jump as I already have a kitbashed jump chaplain, and making the ancient a Lieutenant as I did not have a normal lieutenant, and felt ancients were leaning to far away from pragmatism even for me.
I’m going to attempt better photos and a full army shot (3k+ pts) also throughout the day
And with that… The space marines from Armageddon are now complete!
More to come for my Raptors in 40k, but maybe not in 2026 after these push me well over 3000 points fully painted. Next plan is the Orks.

I’ve only got the captain to complete from Armageddon now - I’m going to start painting him this evening.
The bases also need to be fully finished on all of the models from Armageddon as well to be honest, it’s just the base texture paste currently.

The intercessors and captain to go now
I decided to get the land speeder out of the way. I painted a few storm speeders last year so this was a fairly repetitive process, so I tried to get through it quite quickly.
I’ve gone a lot further with the weathering on this than other vehicles, namely out of boredom but just to try some things. The brown is a little to desaturated along with the edge highlight colour I use. I’ll go back to a more red/orange brown in future
I tend to paint most of my Raptors as not very tacticool and fairly standard anyway.

I already have a kitbashed Jump Chaplain for my Raptors… So, I did not need another from armageddon, I also do not currently have a chaplain on foot or a Jump Captain…
Realistically this is as large as it will get, as I do not like the phobos models all that much, and I certainly do not like painting them.
Also the only part of my army that has a form of camo. Raptors in 40k for me aren’t quite as tacticool as many make them, when you’re an 8ft tool mutated monster that’s just come out of a drop-pod that has screamed out of the sky, I’m not convinced camouflage is that necessary most of the time - maybe only on long campaigns that require more than a few hours on the ground, which are rare for marines mostly.
Phobos who are more likely to be on longer exertions though, yeah, camo can work.

The second batch of My Raptors Army - the 8th Company contingent.
Quite a small force with hopes to expand it out to at least 20 marines without characters. The chaplain I’m undecided is a company chaplain or attached to the main reclusium and seconded to this force. The Aethan Shaan proxy is a lieutenant of the company lore wise, with those of the 8th company still holding the title of Moritat - and specialise in hyper violent CQC solo command decapitation strikes

I started Raptors with the Leviathan box and this lot bring my force up to 2500pts - I’m not sure I’ll make it 5k in points in 11th but who knows?
It is not glued together so I can go back in and paint the mechanical aspects easier - hence the hanging crotch plate.
I'm quite happy with the current volumetric highlights
Decided to actually open my Crux Terminatus box and build some assault terminators as a quick bank holiday project.
Other than decals and some other minor refinements, this project is complete - what do you think?
