Tiki Tuesday

Roughly half the collection prior to the purge - mugs had to be parted with in preparation for the move to Thailand. I still have the majority of these.

Essentials and Must Haves?

My short list:

Core Rules
Gadgets, Guns and Vehicles
Starter Deck
Horror Deck

I'll initially be running pulp-horror investigator scenarios of the heavily-armed variety (more BPRD than Cthulhu) with cultists, pre-war Nazis and alien invaders thrown in. Will later expand into Weird West, Back of Beyond, Skull Island...

The large number of card sets, all with limited descriptions, makes it difficult to guage what are 'must haves'. I'm looking for insight from experienced players.

FYI, I'm in Thailand, so shipping and import duties are a consideration. A mate will be bring these to me from the States in his luggage, so I can't crazy.

Four Foreign Divers Found Safe After Sattahip Dive Alarm

The Life Aquatic

These are some of my dive buddies. 'A lot of diving experience' is an understatement - two are course directors, countless thousands of dives between them. A strong reminder that this can happen to anyone. Be prepared to self-rescue!

Tim reports that at the end of their tech dive, the current grabbed them. Not uncommon at Samae San and the Hardeep Wreck, it's happened to me numerous times. They had a 7 to 8 mile swim back to shore. Yikes!

Glad to have you boys home safely!

Workbench Wednesday

Finally found a Thai-based supplier that cuts wargaming bases. Now that large bases are at hand, formation of the artillery park may proceed.

Printer: Sonic Mini 8K S
Resin: Phrozen Aqua 8K
Prints: Max FitzGerald, LeechLoverLaboratory, Studio Sol Union
Plastics: Perry Miniatures

I'm actually a novice at 3D printing. After printing some skulls, Mr. Monday was my second ever successful print. I'll be printing more of Mr. Monday for use as terrain, being more mindful of support placement.

My initial prints were a disaster. I was attempting to use a bottle of cheap, discontinued resin for which there was not a Chitubox profile. Fiddling with resin profile settings is not advisable for novices.

I then opted to purchase some high-quality resin made specifically for my printer - and with an available Chitubox profile - to help ease my learning pains. Unfortunately, Phrozen Aqua 8K is insanely expensive in Thailand. I'll be giving the much more affordable Elegoo Standard Resin 8K a try in the future. The light grey rocket bitz are actually an Etsy purchase from prior to my move to Thailand and are somewhat brittle. I'll likely be using them for a destroyed rocket battery terrain feature.

I've found that bendy is actually a good trait when it comes to more fragile bitz, such as the rockets. To achieve bendy, less curing time. Mr. Monday, even though I hollowed him, and the Le Grand Bombard were subjected to much longer curing times.

Reclaiming r/Pattaya

I've recently had many Redditors express their support. Now take action.

The form to file a Moderator Code of Conduct report can be found at the bottom of this article.

https://redditinc.com/policies/moderator-code-of-conduct

Reddit,

In advance, I'm keeping this as brief as possible. My hope is that thorough review of moderator u/PattayaFlyingClub and subreddit r/Pattaya will be sufficient.

The moderator u/PattayaFlyingClub routinely violates every Code of Conduct rule. The content of subreddit r/Pattaya daily violates multiple Reddit Rules.

As an aside, the username 'PattayaFlyingClub' is a reference to suicide. Persons committing suicide in Pattaya often do so by jumping from hotel and condominium windows.

Given the subreddit name, r/Pattaya should be the logical first place for locals and visitors to the city of Pattaya, Thailand to go for community engagement and information. They are extremely disappointed. What they find instead is a hub for sex tourism - and often sexism, bigotry and racism - not only in Pattaya, but throughout Thailand and in other SE Asian countries.

I'm beseeching Reddit to aid us in reclaiming our online community.

Regards,
Friedrich

Brother and sister missing in Thailand after reporting a possible Bluetooth tracker

A 22-year-old woman, Diana, and her 17-year-old brother, Roman, have gone missing in Pattaya, Thailand.
According to their mother, the siblings left home on a motorcycle at around 4:00 AM. Security cameras captured them leaving, but shortly afterward all contact with them was lost. Their phones have been switched off ever since.
Before disappearing, Diana told her mother that she believed someone was following her. She also said her iPhone had detected an unknown Bluetooth tracking device (similar to an AirTag) traveling with her. The last message she sent to her mother was simply:
"Urgent!"
After that, neither Diana nor Roman was heard from again.
Their mother has shared photos of the motorcycle and the clothes they were wearing, asking anyone in Pattaya who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, or any information about their whereabouts, to come forward. According to the latest CCTV footage, they were last seen riding toward the Khao Chi Chan area.

Thai Police and Indian Community of Pattaya Rescue Three Indian Tourists Kidnapped, Held Captive, and Tortured for Ransom Near Pattaya

Colour me skeptical, but how do 'tourists' get into these situations? 20 years visiting and living in Pattaya and the closest I've ever come to being kidnapped was the time I wandered onto Pattaya 6/1 at night.

Meat Consumption and Cognitive Health by APOE Genotype

A 15-year Swedish study recently published in JAMA Network Open. Researchers tracked 2157 adults and found that persons who ate the most unprocessed meat had dramatically lower rates of dementia, especially those carrying the APOE gene.

Artillery Crews by Leech Lover | Scale?

My most ambitious print job to date, artillery crews and two Boletus torsos by Leech Lover.

They came out perfectly, but I'm a little disappointed as I was expecting them to be better scaled to Perry Miniatures plastics.

Has anyone scaled these down? I'm thinking either 90 or 95%. Trying to save some time, this print job required 2.5 hours to complete.

Even more excited than me for Turnip28

Milo! Don't watch the timer! It's not going to go any faster and you're breathing fumes!

He eventually lost interest and voluntarily stayed out of the room.
