I was surprised reading the early X-Men issues that they never show how Scott and Jean became a couple. They go from secretly pining for each other, then after Professor X appears to have died in UXM 42 they're suddenly dating. In UXM 138 "Elegy" which Chris Claremont and John Byrne had hastily put together after being forced by editor-in-chief Jim Shooter to change the ending of the previous issue and kill Jean off. It's Scott at Jean's funeral remembering everything that's happened in the title since first issue. Claremont and Byrne put in this new scene that takes place around UXM 32 after Bobby's 18th birthday party where Angel introduces everyone to his new girlfriend Candy Southern. In the issue Jean and Scott and Scott tells her why he's so aloof is because he's afraid he'll hurt someone with his powers. This new scene has to take place after that.
On the bright side the green outfit for her looks great. Everything else 🤨
An illustration of the Original X-Men. While I do love the design & the aesthetic of the original 5, admittedly, the Silver Age stories aren’t my favorite. There’s good stuff in them that later writers have built on to great effect. Personal preference, I use young Clint Eastwood as a basis for Cyclops. Illustration done with ink & digitally colored in photoshop.
Considering Jean usually gets a skin in the second half of the season I think based on the fishing game, that she might get a summer skin in a second wave, or a 97 skin
