I'm trying to figure out how to make a "gushers filling" texture thick, goopy coating with citric acid in it. Or like the texture of those old squeezy tubes of super thick sour candy. It was thicker than honey. Between honey and pomade textures almost. Like caulking. Not sure how to do that without using corn syrup and I'd really prefer not to use it.
I recall when I was young (in CA no less!) my elementary school used to do field trips to a local regenerative farm. They had a lot of hands-on activities like soil sensory stations and chicken coops we ran around in and we even helped harvest a row or two of cabbage once. I remember learning about how farming and ecology intermingle, and it's just such a fond childhood memory of mine.
I was wondering if there were farms in the region that provide that service to school-aged kids. I'm an educator who has worked in both classroom and non traditional settings (museum ed ftw), with some farm-adjacent experience as well (animal keeper at Disney) and a keen interest in homestead/subsistence farming and am really interested in any educator opportunities in non traditional settings.
TYIA and have a beautiful weekend! Stay cool and hydrated!
Hi all,
Lately I have been feeling a pull to volunteer at my local county juvie. I am a teacher who has taught not only in America but in several places across the world that have experienced historical and current warfare and deep-rooted social conflict. I feel my experience working with kids in such tough circumstances prepares me for the challenge of working with kids in juvenile detention who may have similar social and behavioral adaptations as those I worked with overseas.
I wanted to know what your experiences have been as COs or LEOs in juvenile detention, particularly regarding day-to-day interpersonal and emotional interactions with the kids. How do volunteers function at your particular facility and what are the things you see them regularly succeed at, and what do you see volunteers regularly struggle with re: interacting with the kids? What is the best part of your daily work, and what do you hate about it or struggle with?
Thank you and I hope you all have an easy weekend.
I want to do tiny top big pants adidas but I don't know where to buy a kesha-esque top in Bville! Ladies, where can I find sequins in town??? 🧡
I will seriously pay someone's mamanjoon to make a bulk order of adas polo and koobideh if there isn't a proper restaurant in the state. I will travel up to 3 hours. Someone please guide me to a Persian restaurant within a 250 mile radius. I am not kidding, I will make a weekend trip to get authentic Persian somewhere. 😭
It's been really interesting watching my fellow DSA "kill all Nazis" members support and defend, violently and ignorantly, a Nazi rapist running for government. I am starting to lose hope for this movement. How do we cope with the slow descent into fascism that DSA is currently facing?
Hi all, happy America 250, so excited to visit your beautiful city during such an historic anniversary for your country. In a city that helped start it all.
I am looking for Boston/Massachussetts dishes to eat.
I am not looking for specific restaurants necessarily, although if you have recommendations for the best of the best that tourists don't know about, happy to hear about it. But truthfully I don't care if you know the best chicken parmigiana place in the North End, I'm more interested in if that place also serves Italian dishes that are common in Mass but don't really exist in the rest of America.
I'm more interested in learning about more dishes I need to try. Mass specific. You know, boston cream pie, ""chowdah"", lobster roll.... other dishes that are iconic to Boston/Mass's long cultural history. I have already been told to get a boston cream pie from Omni Parker House.
There's got to be more to Boston cuisine than custard cake and shellfish?
TYIA and so excited to learn more about your food and visit your city!
Never in my life....
What does the Benton County Sheriffs use the RV for?? It had lights on??? I need the tea
You should check out Horsey Game on Steam. Watch the trailer first. I am highly amused.
Hi all,
The blanket in this screenshot is very special to me. My mom was gifted it by one of her old boyfriends over 40 years ago. When she had me and my sibling, it became one of the most coveted items in the house. Many a fight began between my sibling and I over its use.
I was scrolling one day and saw this clothier make a vest out of a PRISTINE version of my beloved blanket. I was in awe as I had never seen another of this blanket in all of my years. I am currently in possession of my mom's blanket. It's worn, pilled, and threadbare. I am desperately seeking an identical replacement, preferable the same maker.
My blanket no longer has the maker tag (circled in red) due to it being well loved and thus the edging has separated quite a bit over the years, and I am hoping against all hope that some vintage-head in this group can identify the tag and maker so I might be able to find a suitable replacement.
Thank you deeply and kindly in advance. 🧡
anyone know of any practitioners that can clear an emergent ear blockage causing hearing loss today or some point this weekend? can drive if not located in bentonville. tyia
Hi all, happy Friday!
I was wondering about the performing arts scene here in town. I was checking out the Walton Arts Center and wanted to know more about who puts on the shows, if they are produced and cast by the Arts Center itself or if there are theater schools/troupes in the area that are invited to perform at the Center. I'd definitely be interested in taking classes or joining a theater group, if anyone has any info about that.
Thank you and have a lovely weekend! 🧡
Seeking bars, breweries, or restaurants that host pub trivia nights. Bonus points for trivia nights that aren't pop culture heavy. TYIA!
Ok so tonight I went to a popular sushi restaurant in town that has become a family favorite.
I noticed that the shrimp in my roll hadn't been deveined which is not normal where I come from...
I asked if I could have a new roll with a deveined shrimp and they brought me another poop chute shrimp and then served me rotten pineapple when we got our check.
I obviously pissed someone off. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Do y'all just not devein shrimp here? Do I just avoid shrimp down here from now on? I can't get past the thought of willingly eating shrimp poop.
Specifically looking for bang-for-your-buck options. Pick up pizza that is large and delicious and not $40 a pie. TYIA and happy almost weekend 🧡
Looking for fun drinks and meal deals around the area. Shout your faves!
Hi all, looking to picnic somewhere on the shores of Beaver Lake this weekend. Last weekend we stopped at the boat ramp just before the highway 12 bridge going over the lake but we're hoping for something just a touch further from the road. Don't mind driving around the lake for a better spot but also not looking to hike to a beach. TYIA and have a beautiful weekend y'all!
