🎁 Giveaway

I’m giving everyone who provides genuine feedback free access to the app.

I’m especially interested in hearing:

  • Is the workflow fast enough?
  • Which proof template would you use most?
  • What information do you usually include in a service report?

Every piece of constructive feedback helps shape future updates.

Thank you for helping an indie developer build a better tool for service professionals! 🚀

The most expensive mistake in a small shop isn’t losing a customer.

It’s losing time.

I visited a small convenience store recently.

The owner wasn’t struggling to sell products.

He was struggling with everything around selling.

  • Looking up product prices
  • Typing product names
  • Counting inventory
  • Searching old receipts
  • Writing customer debts on paper

None of those tasks make money.

They simply take time away from serving customers.

That conversation reminded me of something:

Small businesses don’t need more software. They need less manual work.

That’s the mindset I’ve been following while building TinyPOS.

Every new feature has to answer one question:

Does this save time every single day?

If the answer is no, I probably won’t build it.

That’s why recent updates focus on reducing repetitive work:

  • AI Product Capture to reduce manual product entry
  • Faster continuous barcode scanning
  • Better checkout flow
  • Customer debt tracking
  • Cloud backup
  • Product variants

They’re not “wow” features.

They’re everyday features.

And sometimes, saving 30 seconds on a task repeated hundreds of times is far more valuable than adding another dashboard.

As developers, we often measure success by features shipped.

Business owners measure success differently.

They ask:

“Did this make my day easier?”

That’s the question I want TinyPOS to answer.

Scan. Sell. Done.

What’s the most repetitive task in your business that you wish software could eliminate?

u/hoabuidev — 17 days ago

A cashier scanned the same product 300 times today.

Think about that for a second.

If every scan takes just one extra tap, that’s 300 unnecessary taps in a single day.

Most POS apps are designed around features.

TinyPOS is designed around repetition.

Because selling isn’t something you do once.

You repeat the same actions hundreds of times every day.

Scan.

Scan.

Scan.

Checkout.

Receipt.

Repeat.

That completely changed how I think about product design.

Instead of asking:

“What feature should I build next?”

I started asking:

“What tap can I remove?”

Some of the biggest improvements in TinyPOS came from that question.

Not flashy features.

Just tiny improvements that save a second or two every time someone sells a product.

  • Continuous barcode scanning
  • Recently Added items
  • Faster checkout
  • Better product search
  • Hold Order
  • Quick Return

None of these features sound revolutionary.

But if they save 2 seconds per sale, and a shop processes hundreds of sales every day…

That adds up surprisingly fast.

Sometimes the biggest productivity gain doesn’t come from adding another feature.

It comes from removing one unnecessary tap.

What repetitive task do you think software should make disappear?

u/hoabuidev — 21 days ago

I used to think more settings meant a better app.

When I first started building TinyPOS, almost every screen had another setting:

  • Scanner settings
  • Inventory settings
  • Checkout settings
  • Receipt settings
  • Tax settings
  • Product settings

I thought giving users more control would make the app more powerful.

Instead, it made the app harder to use.

Then I watched a few small shop owners try TinyPOS for the first time.

Something became obvious.

They didn’t want to configure a POS.

They wanted to start selling immediately.

So I changed my approach.

Instead of asking users dozens of questions, TinyPOS now makes most decisions for them:

  • Walk-in Customer is selected by default.
  • Tax uses the store default.
  • Products inherit sensible defaults.
  • Barcode scanning starts immediately.
  • Recently Added helps users stay in the scanning flow.
  • Most settings work well without any configuration.

Advanced options are still there—but they’re hidden until someone actually needs them.

One principle now guides almost every feature I build:

Good defaults are often better than more settings.

Every setting adds another decision.

Every decision slows someone down.

The best software often feels simple not because it has fewer features, but because users rarely need to configure them.

That’s the direction I’m taking with TinyPOS.

Scan. Sell. Done.

Have you ever removed settings from your product to make it easier to use?

Want to know how I built a mobile app portfolio website in just a few minutes?

Here’s the simple workflow:

  1. Collect the app icons, screenshots, and product images
  2. Describe the website idea, purpose, and visual direction to Codex
  3. Let Codex generate the structure and UI
  4. Enjoy a cup of coffee ☕
  5. Push the source code to GitHub
  6. Connect the repository to Vercel
  7. Deploy

Done. The website is live.

No complicated setup.
No heavy CMS.
No long development cycle.

Just a clear idea, the right screenshots, and an AI-assisted workflow.

This is how I quickly turned my mobile apps into a clean portfolio website for Buddy Apps.

Small apps. Big everyday help.

Looking for an investor or strategic partner for TinyPOS – an offline-first mobile POS for small businesses

Hi everyone 👋

I’m an indie developer from Vietnam with 14+ years of software development experience, and over the past year I’ve been building TinyPOS—a mobile-first POS designed for small shops that don’t want the complexity (or monthly cost) of enterprise POS systems.

The problem

Many small businesses only need a simple way to:

  • Scan products
  • Sell quickly
  • Print receipts
  • Track inventory
  • View sales reports

Most existing POS solutions are:

  • Expensive
  • Cloud-only
  • Subscription-heavy
  • Too complex for small shops

TinyPOS

TinyPOS is built around one idea:

Scan. Sell. Done.

Current features include:

  • 📱 Mobile-first Flutter app
  • 📷 Barcode & QR code scanning
  • 📦 Product & inventory management
  • 💰 Fast checkout
  • 🧾 Bluetooth receipt printing
  • 📊 Sales reports
  • 💾 Local database (works offline)
  • 🔒 Privacy-first (no account required)
  • ☁️ Backup & restore
  • 🌍 Multi-language support

The app is already available on iOS and Android.

What makes it different?

Instead of forcing users into subscriptions and cloud accounts from day one, TinyPOS starts as:

  • Offline-first
  • Local-first
  • Fast
  • Easy to learn
  • Designed for very small businesses

Cloud features are optional and being planned separately.

Current traction

I’m continuously improving the product based on user feedback.

Some upcoming roadmap items:

  • AI-assisted product creation
  • Better inventory tools
  • Cloud backup
  • Store connectors (WooCommerce, Shopify, etc.)
  • Optional cloud sync
  • Open-source self-hosted sync server

Why I’m posting

I’m exploring conversations with:

  • Angel investors
  • Strategic partners
  • People with experience scaling SaaS/mobile products
  • Anyone who has built products for SMB retail

I’m not just looking for money.

I’d love to connect with someone who believes there’s still room for a simple, privacy-first POS for millions of small businesses worldwide.

Looking for feedback

I’d really appreciate thoughts on:

  • Does this problem resonate with you?
  • Would you invest in a product like this?
  • What would you need to see before considering an investment?
  • Any advice on reaching investors in the SMB software space?

Thanks for reading! 🙌

I built a simple offline POS for small cafés. I’d love feedback from café owners.

Hi everyone,

I’m an indie developer and I’ve been building a mobile POS app called **TinyPOS** over the past few months.

The original goal was simple:

Many small cafés don’t need a complex POS system with subscriptions, multiple servers, and dozens of settings. They just want to:

* Scan or select products
* Take payment quickly
* Print a receipt
* Check today’s sales

So I built an app that focuses on:

* Works completely offline
* No account required
* Bluetooth receipt printing
* Barcode scanning
* Daily sales summary
* Inventory management

I’m not here to promote it—I genuinely want feedback from people who actually run cafés.

If you own or work in a café:

**What is the biggest frustration with your current POS?**

If you could remove one annoying step during checkout, what would it be?

I’d love to learn from real café owners before adding more features.

Thanks!

Looking for feedback before expanding an offline POS beyond its MVP (I will not promote)

Hi everyone,

I’m a solo developer currently building TinyPOS, an offline-first mobile POS for small businesses.

The app is already being used by early users, and I’m at the point where product decisions matter much more than adding more features.

Current roadmap ideas include:

  • Product variants
  • Bundle products
  • AI-assisted product setup
  • Store integrations (WooCommerce, Google Sheets)
  • External barcode scanner support

The question I’m struggling with is:

How far should a product go before it loses its simplicity?

I’m intentionally trying to avoid becoming another enterprise POS.

If you’ve built B2B software before:

  • How do you decide what features to reject?
  • How do you avoid feature creep while still growing?

I’d really appreciate any advice.

[Android + IOS] [FREE -> FREE] I built WorkProof — a local-first app for creating professional job proof reports in minutes

Hey everyone,

I’ve been building WorkProof, a simple mobile app for service workers, freelancers, and small businesses who need to document completed work and send clear proof to customers.

The idea came from a common problem: after finishing a job, people often have photos, notes, material costs, and a customer signature—but turning all of that into a clean report usually takes too much time.

WorkProof lets you create a report using:

  • Before and after photos
  • Work notes
  • Materials and service costs
  • Client details
  • Customer confirmation or signature
  • Maintenance checklists
  • Handover and rental condition records

You can create a quick draft first and add more details later. The final report can be previewed and shared with the customer.

The app includes templates for:

  • Quick Proof
  • Service Report
  • Before & After
  • Handover / Delivery
  • Rental Condition
  • Maintenance Report

WorkProof is local-first and works offline. There is no account required, and your reports, photos, clients, and settings stay on your device.

It may be useful for AC/HVAC technicians, cleaners, installers, repair workers, maintenance teams, handymen, auto detailers, and other field-service professionals.

I’m currently polishing the app and would really appreciate feedback:

  • Does this solve a real problem for your work?
  • Which report template would be most useful?
  • Is there anything important missing from the workflow?

Thanks for checking it out!
