Trying to remember the name of a remember the name of a restaurant that was just off the intersection of Hwy 50 and Columbia during the ‘90s.
Edit: Thanks for the replies. The one I was trying to remember was Shoneys.
How are Crosstrek owners routing the wire to rear window dash cam?
(Rove r2-4K — 2025 Crosstrek)
Using dash cam with wifi on 2025 Crosstrek Premium with Apple Play.
I understand that you can’t use blue tooth Apple Play and access dash cams wifi at the same time. Can you get around that by plugging the phone into the car’s USB C cable and wifi for the camera? Or… does Subaru’s Apple Play only work thru blue tooth?
Copying photos on iPad to thumb drive, then deleting them from iPad.
I have an iPad and two iPhones. Every phone taken on one device shows up on the other two. Question: If I copy the photos from my iPad to a thumb drive, then delete them from the iPad, will they repopulate to the iPad from the other devices?
A psychologist told me 23 years ago that I had a mild(?) case of social anxiety. I think she’s probably correct.
My wife and I have no friends. We have some friends from years gone by but rarely see or talk to them. 23 years ago when talking to this psychologist, it came to mind, (and I told her) whenever I had the opportunity to do something, like an invitation, the first thing in my mind was how not to commit - quickly looking for an excuse. A little over a year ago a guy I ran into at a drugstore and I just started talking while standing in line at the cash register. We continued outside for a bit and he suggested we meet “tomorrow” at a local coffee shop. The first thing out of my mouth was “Oh. I can’t. Wife and I have plans”. We didn’t. He asked for my phone number but he never called. I’m was glad he didn’t because I was already thinking up excuses.
I and my wife are in our 70s, (77 & 78 respectively) but we, maybe a bit more myself, still have basically the same mindset we had in the late 1960s. There aren’t too many of us old hippie freaks left, at least around here. Today at the grocery store I met a couple who looked like they’d just stepped away from Woodstock. I HAD to talk to them so I did, for about 20 minutes comparing stories from back in the day. They live within a mile of us so socializing would (should) be easy. As we started to part ways, the guy gave me their phone number. I said I’d call but I’m not sure I will. I have reasons (that I won’t share here except to say some are after effects of medical procedures that I use for excuses) to shy away from social interaction. I don’t know what I’m asking here, or even if I am asking. Maybe like another post I read, just venting.

Should I ask my MO for a PSMA Pet scan?
I had RALP in Oct 2017. Post surgery my PSA slowly stared going up. I had a Axumin PET that showed two very small hotspots that doctors didn’t think that’s were PSA was coming from so between myself, the surgeon who did the surgery (even tho’ his part was done) my MO and the RO it was decided I go on ADT. Since the end of 2018 my PSA has been undetectable - <0.01. I get CAT scans every year and they always come back clean. I’m allergic to IVP dye (anaphylaxis) so they’re done without contrast.. by the way, 8 years, I’m still on ADT. When I had my Axumin was supposedly the latest, greatest. I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about PSMA being so much better. My last CAT was done in January ‘26, my next MO appointment is a month away so I’m expecting another CAT to be ordered soon so my question , should I ask for a PSMA instead of the CAT. (I really don’t mind the quarterly Lupron shots (except for the fatigue) but I feel like one of these mornings I’m gonna choke on one of the Zytiga pills I take every morning).
I’m going to run it by my MO no matter what your responses are, so have at it.
[US]How to get rid of these calls saying “loan application has been approved”?
Screen shot of the latest Scam Voicemail - I’ve redacted the phone number.
My wife has been getting these Voicemails for about a month, maybe longer. Two or three a day. I’ve set our phones to not ring if the number isn’t in our contacts list so they go to voicemail. This one says debt consolidation but sometimes they’re unsecured loans and the amounts range from $26K to $70K. I click Report Spam and Delete, then block the numbers as soon as they pop up. I’ve probably deleted/reported/blocked 100 of them. Just wishing I could get them to stop. (If it matters, my wife’s phone is on my Apple account. They only go to her phone so far, not to mine)
How does your new business treat potential future customers?
There’s a new coffee shop getting ready to open just up the street from me. I’ve been curious about it. Walked by this morning, decided to see what it said on the front door. (Just open hours, but nothing about *when it’s going to open). I was greeted by their security doorbell, ring(?) with ‘YOU’RE ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. STEP BACK, now I don’t know if it was recording audio but I said “Just reading the sign”. Then STEP BACK OFF THE DRIVEWAY. Seriously? if I can’t walk up to your front door to see when you will be open without YOU’RE ON PRIVATE PROPERTY, I’m not real likely to come back when you do open.
I mean, why not a greeting like *Sorry, we’re not open yet. Please return after we open*.
Not likely.
Is T’town having postal delivery problems, or short staffed?
Been I my house for 19 years. Delivery used to be fairly consistent, but for the past 2years or so delivery times are all over the place. Sometimes it’s here shortly after 9:30 AM, usually it’s later, like 2, 3 pm. Today I’m tracking an expected package originally “by 2:40”. Here it’s 5 PM and estimated delivery “by 9:00 PM”.
Edit: It arrived at 5:00 pm. The carrier said something like this isn’t a regular route? I didn’t really understand but I’d don’t think she meant it wasn’t her regular route.. I very seldom see the same carrier more than two or three days in a row.. always different (?)
Display MPG average vs calculated MPG
I don’t need explanations about the accuracy or lack thereof of the displayed mpg or computed mpg, there can be errors in both, but here’s what I did just for S and G..
I bought my ‘25 Crosstrek Premium 13 1/2 months ago. Every fill up was at the same station, same pump and set at the same notch on the pump handle, let it click off by itself. I noted the displayed mileage, do the calculations for mpg, then noted the difference between displayed and calculated. The differences run between 0.5 and 1.13 mpg, displayed always a little higher than calculated. In town driving naturally equals lower mileage. Over 16 fill ups the errors of displayed averages 0.7 mpg higher than calculated. Displayed Mpg averaged to 28.5. Subtracting 0.7 brings the calculated mpg average to 27.55 mpg.
I don’t know if that’s good, bad or indifferent for Crosstreks but it’s the best mileage I’ve ever had in any gas car. (Except for my old smart car.. averaged 40)
What is this yellow indicator light for?
SOLVED: It’s on page 5/6 of the Safety and Security manual. (Thanx to alanpp27 for telling me manual & page#) I don’t do much nighttime driving but I’m surprised that I’ve never noticed it before. I also found out why the map light had come on, which is when I noticed the yellow/green light in the first place, but I DON’T think it’s in the manual ~ my head lights were off when it got dark. The map light comes on as a reminder to turn the lights on. How was I supposed to know that? I found it in a search on DuckDuckGo! (My light switch is normally in the auto position, somehow it got turned to Off!)
Almost home after a 65+/- mile drive, the driver side map light came on by itself. I turned it off but then I noticed the yellow light. It stays on for 4 minutes or so after shutting off the motor and getting out of the car. All I can find (so far) in the owners manual is that it’s an alert for a possible minor issue or upcoming maintenance due, but I have no idea what the issue is. 2025 Crosstrek Premium, 13 months old, just a bit over 4000 miles on the odometer.
Anyone had Amyloid PET Scan for Alzheimer’s ?
My wife has been diagnosed with mild dementia. At first I was skeptical because of the - what I thought was - a hasty diagnosis. I then took her to a gerontologist who specializes in Alzheimer’s diseases. A more thorough examination confirmed dementia to our (reluctant) satisfaction. At our visit with the geriatric doctor today, the doctor went over her recent blood tests, AD Detect ABETA, etc. Results interpretation says HIGH LIKELIHOOD to develop Alzheimer’s. The doctor talked about the PET scan and said some of her patients have it done but most don’t and no matter the results of the scan, it wouldn’t change her current treatment. She has left the decision to us, more accurately, to my wife. Even tho’ this doctor confirmed the diagnosis we didn’t want to hear, she’s been doing this for 40 years and I trust her judgement. So, back to the question: has anyone here taken the PET or have any experience with it? … (a side note: Almost as soon as we got home this afternoon, the first commercial I saw on TV was about this very scan. In the commercial’s patient’s case it verified his diagnosis.)
Love bugs in the radiator.
Drove from N. Brevard county to Orlando and back yesterday. Found a few more Love Bugs than I’ve seen in the past few years. When I got home I spent around two hours washing them of the front of my car, the hood, side mirrors, and the grill. One thing remains - the slimy little buggers that made it thru the grill and are now stuck in the radiator. Anybody have any tips on how to get ‘em out of the radiator short of removing body panels? Ain’t gonna do that!
My CarPlay stopped connecting to my iPhone.
I’ve had my 2025 Crosstrek for just 13 months. Everything’s been working fine until today. After an appointment when I started the car to drive home CarPlay didn’t start (?). I tried to reconnect my phone but I can’t get it to connect. Do I need to start all over? How? If you tell me to look in the owner’s manual, please tell me which manual and what page. I just can’t find it (so far). Is there a YouTube video, maybe?Worked fine on the way to the appointment (35 miles) but wouldn’t connect as I was leaving.
I’ve been on ADT for several years. Fatigue is a given. An oncology nurse once told me it’s the number one complaint from ADT patients. For awhile now I’ve caught myself getting angry over basically inconsequential setbacks. A missed phone call (last night), my wife misunderstanding me or vice versa = angry! (Tho’ not violent). This morning I was thinking about a Big Bang Theory episode where Howard was getting angry and upset over the littlest things. Bernadette found out Howard had been rubbing estrogen cream on his mother without wearing gloves and told him it’d been going through his skin causing his upsets and outbursts. A light 💡 went off in my head! A quick question to Dr. Google. Of course! Will definitely be running it by my oncologist at my next visit.
