The Farmer is Scary

I don't know about anyone else but I routinely go up to people holding my hatchet and I recently realized how terrifying that has to be for the average citizens of town. You turn around to have a conservation with the farmer and they just have an entire hatchet, sickle, or hoe out. I wish we had reactions for that.

Late Today

Is anyone else's unemployment payment late today? I know the website was having issues but I'm not sure if that would affect it.

Thanks!

Iron Lung: Missing Scene

Hello!

I was wondering if I was just having trouble finding the scene, or if it's missing from the film. I'm looking for the scene where Simon's mother hands him something. I think it's the harness? I've rewatched the movie three times since it came out digitally and I can't find it! Did I hallucinate the scene? Can someone tell me where it is in the movie?

Thanks!

The Arrangement by Mary Balogh

I want to start out by saying thank you to everyone who's ever asked for a thread of novels where one of the characters or both are disabled in some way. I'm currently reading through every one that I can find. The main male character in this novel is blind and I swear he has to be the best love interest I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I had to take breaks from the books because I was swooning so hard. I absolutely adore him and how he's written. There's great chemistry between the two main leads as well.

The book itself is very light-hearted and a good read if you're not in the mood for a heavy plot. I 100% recommend it to everyone and anyone.

Scam?

This might have been asked before, but is this a scam? The account behind it says they're Tumblr support.

MMC or FMC: Different Body Types

Hello!

I wanted to know if there were any historical romance novels that have MMC's and FMC's that aren't necessarily lean, muscular, small waisted, etc.? That's how they're always described in the novels I've read. Preferably regency period though I know that probably makes it more difficult.

Thank you!

Declining a Job Offer [California]

Hello!

My question is about declining a job offer. Before the interview, I didn't know how many hours I'd be working - it was part time so I thought somewhere in the 20 hour range. At the interview they told me that I'd be working at 18/hr with a max of 5 hours a week. (And they said that even that is conditional on my work ability). This job isn't nearly enough to live on. Is this a good reason to decline a job offer, or do I have to take it?

Thanks.

What's a Historical Romance that you had to DNF?

What's a historical romance you had to DNF? For me, there's {Her Bridegroom Bought and Paid For by Alice Coldbreath} I was super excited by the ML but he (and his family) just ended up disappointing me and I had to put it down.

Catch of the Season by Barbara Benedict

Has anyone else read this book? I just finished it and found a funny little detail" the mmc refers to himself as a fish, like a fish, or in reference to a fish like four times and it's absolutely hilarious to me. In general I loved the book and found the mmc extremely charming. What are your thoughts?

AI Covers on Modern Historical Romance Novels

I was curious about your opinions on people using AI covers on newer historical romance novels. Personally I won't read anything that's been touched by AI in any way. I know it changes person to person though.

Thanks!

WIBTA If I Told My Sister To "Figure It Out"

Hello!

My sister recently bought plane tickets to come see my cousin and I - without telling anyone she was coming. Now she's mentioned that she hasn't booked a hotel room in advance and claims that my cousin or I have to either host her or pay for a hotel room for her nearby. Neither of us have space for her and we're both in tight financial spaces until next week. Would I be the AH if I told her to buy her own hotel room or figure out a place to stay on her own?

Tiktok Shop Review

Hello!

I recently left a tiktok review on a product I purchased. It was a very simple review but it WAS a negative one. The business messaged me telling me they'd refund me if I took down the review. Times are tough and I could use the refund so I said sure. They told me I have to take down the review before I get the refund, because I can't delete a review on a refunded item. Is that true? It feels like they're trying to scam me out of the refund. At this point I'm almost willing to just leave the review up.

They also sent me a photo tutorial of how to delete my review which I found incredibly ridiculous.

[California] Case Closed, Appointment Needed To Reopen

Hello,

Two weeks ago I went to certify for my benefits and it told me I needed to reopen my claim. I'm not sure why. I never missed a recertification (I certify every two weeks) I have an appointment on Friday and I'm nervous about what they want to talk about. Is it possible they switched it to every week instead without telling me? On the website it says I'll be able to certify on Sunday as usual so does that mean the appointment isn't a big deal? Or it's a minor confusion?

Thank you!

Hello,

I'm having some strange symptoms and I'm wondering if anyone has any idea of what they might be. At night, when I lay down to go to sleep, I sometimes have something I call a flare up where every breath tingles coming in and going out and it's very painful to the point where I have to take short breaths. My head starts feeling kind of fuzzy and I start to get sleepy. It only goes away after I fall asleep.

I've been to several doctors and am going to a neurologist next week (yay) and at this point we're all throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks! So if anyone has any ideas I can offer my doctor to test for, that'd be great! Literally, they're asking for MY opinion at this point :) do I have some new mystery disease, do you think? Thanks!

(Not looking for a diagnosis or anything, just curious as to what you guys think!)
