“Trust god’s timing, not yours” … what evidence is there of god’s timing?

What do you think of his “timing”?

I think it’s a concept invented to help people cope with unpleasant situations (this bad thing is happening to you but something better with come up it’s all part of god’s timing)

Christians themselves say free will exists (look up their responses to the problem of evil)

Ok, so god apparently wants to violate my free will by imposing his timing on my life despite the fact god apparently doesn’t want to interfere with people’s free will? That makes 0 sense

It’s all made up anyways, god doesn’t exist

Why is every positive event attributed to god and every negative event attributed to humans? As per religious doctrine

The first time I heard that I was like “that’s just god coming up with excuses for why he’s useless and can’t stop evil things from happening”

a truly all-loving being would violate free will to stop evil from happening, god doesn’t do that, making him indifferent and a person who is ok with humanity suffering making him a psychopath

The free will defense falls apart when you think about it; god apparently gave people free will and doesn’t want to interfere when someone is getting murdered, raped, blackmailed just to uphold the concept of free will;

I’ve come to terms with the fact that manuals are probably going to die In 2030

There just isn’t enough people out there who drive stick to make it financially viable for carmakers to keep offering 5MT/6MT vehicles new

What will probably happen is us enthusiasts maintaining older manual cars (90s/2000s) but we can only do that so long before rust/age/parts availability becomes an issue

Edit: I don’t hate manual transmissions, I myself have a 6MT I’m just noticing things in the car world

Edit 2: ok, a more accurate opinion would be for me to say manual cars are becoming a smaller and smaller % of new car sales, that’s more in line with reality

Is a major religion just a very popular cult?

Cults and religions have very similar characteristics

-blind obedience is encouraged

-critical thinking is discouraged

-absolute devotion to a charismatic leader

-isolation of members

-vilification of outsiders

-exploitation (tithing)

There’s a suspiciously high amount of overlap almost as if they are almost the same thing

Divine Timing “Be patient, sometimes the wait is longer because the blessing is bigger” … utter nonsense

How would you respond to this?

How do they know the longer you wait the better your blessing will be?

What about people who waited a long time for something only to get something horrible in return?

Best sedan ever made and why?

List the make, model, engine displacement and why you think it’s the best sedan ever made

Personally I’d have to go with the 1999 BMW E39 M5, it has a 4.9L naturally aspirated V8 and it was made handle and accelerate well (plus the styling is incredible)

Why are Christians hell bent on banning abortion and ruining a woman’s physical autonomy?

Why is so much of their attention directed towards this issue in particular? I feel it’s because they know they lost on almost every other major issue

-it’s legal to be gay and to love whoever you want

-they couldn’t lower the divorce rate

-couldn’t stop more and more people smoking the devil’s lettuce

-couldn’t stop degenerate/“satanic” media from spreading

-couldn’t stop the decline of their cult (more people are atheist now than they were in 2000)

their god was useless in stopping all of the above

… but they want to deny women the right to do what they want with their body? That’s not very love thy neighbour of you

I just realized how easy it is to make an absurd claim and say god wants it that way

“My parakeet is well behaved because of god” “God wanted me to get onion-related food poisoning to teach me a lesson” “it was god’s will for that strip mall to be built”

all of the above is nonsense and not backed up by anything, but it reinforces the point that Christians/religious people’s entire worldview is based on faith and not evidence

Anyways, god is imaginary don’t fall for the mental illness that is religion

“You’re resisting god, you know deep down he’s real” “atheists don’t want god to be true”… religious people actually think this way?

How would you respond to this common coping mechanism by Christians?

Christians desperately want god to be real otherwise they’d realize they’re wasting their lives worshipping an imaginary friend

I don’t resist god, I as an atheist tried believing he exists but the story falls apart

The next administration should put a 60% annual tax on religious institutions

Religion dying globally is a very good thing, humanity needs to be freed from it

America needs to be freed from the primitive and outdated institution that is religion which is exactly why a heavy tax on churches and a decline in religious attendance will benefit this country
