How openly is sex discussed in your country?

I live in a very liberal part of a deep blue state in the USA and sex is pretty openly discussed among people who are close with one another. Maybe not in excruciating detail, but certainly talking about it. Obviously people who are together as a couple will discuss it very openly with each other.

How about your country?

Can't get a hold of my landlord.

I'm trying to get my name taken off the lease so I can move, but my landlord won't answer the phone or come to the door. $1,675 these people take from us every month & they won't even pick up the phone. And the bastards have the audacity to raise our rent every year despite making no improvements to the unit & giving us the 3rd degree any time we need something fixed. Hate these people. I'm 37 and I work full time--I should own a house. But instead I gotta deal with these people every month. It's exhausting honestly. I just want to live someplace and not have to deal with all the baggage that comes from somebody else owning the property I live on.

Can working nights make you get sick more often?

Last month I got pretty sick. It seemed like a really nasty cold. Lasted for a few days and then it cleared up.

Then just this week I got sick again. Similar symptoms, although maybe not quite as severe as the first time. I'm feeling better now.

I rarely, if ever, get sick. To have it happen twice just a month apart is extremely unusual.

I've also been feeling a little more tired and fatigued.

I'm thinking maybe the lack of sunlight and the stress of working nights & not being able to live a normal life might be suppressing my immune system & making me tired.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Rumor has it they're cleaning house at my post soon.

Pray for me 😭 I think I am safe but I'm still scared about losing a couple of guards I'm fond of. I'd love to give all the juicy details but I don't wanna get identified lol.

I hate all these random invites I'm getting to trans porn subs

Idk why I'm getting these all of a sudden. I didn't request them at all. Maybe it's because I'm trans and I talk about it a lot on reddit? And these people assume that bc I'm trans that I like unsolicited invites to trans porn subreddits? I'm probably reading way too much into that.

Not opposed to trans porn at all obviously, but like... Time & place!

Censored bc there's children here. Sorry fellas!

Who was a great person from your country who was stolen before their time?

Harvey Milk--the first openly gay politician in US history. Helped to stop a law barring gays and lesbians from teaching in California. Basically the father of anti-discrimination ordinances that bar discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

He was assassinated by a former peer who opposed some of his reforms.

What's an example from your country's history?

I hate when people complain that reddit is US-centric

Don't get me wrong, it is. But that's because reddit is an American website. The company who owns it is headquartered in San Francisco. Anywhere from 40-60% of reddit traffic comes from the United States because that's where it's based. Most of the posts on this website are going to be from Americans talking about American things. It *is* annoying to people from overseas, for sure, but there are many country-specific subreddits tailored to issues, memes, and topics specific to that country. It's not like there's nowhere for international reddit users to talk about experiences unique to their country.

But the default subreddits are predominantly American, so the internet culture is going to reflect that. I'm not saying it's right or it's fair, but that's the way it is. But anybody can start a subreddit for free & if a lot of people want to discuss a topic, they will go to that subreddit.

Security > Substance Use Counseling

Hello. I've been a security guard for the past year and while I don't hate the work, I don't like what this job is doing to me. I want to transition into a field where I'm not turning away vulnerable people & am actually helping in some way. I'm a recovering addict and have been clean/sober for 10 months. I would love to carry the lessons I've learned forward and help people in need.

I'm located in Washington State and my resume is pretty trash (owing to past substance abuse) but most of the jobs I had before I was a security guard were heavily customer-service oriented. I also have a Bachelor's in Communication Studies from an accredited state college.

Has anyone here ever made this jump? How hard was it to do?
