My mum hired a plumber to look at our boiler, and only disclosed the costs after the first visit where they diagnosed the problem, including the payment for that diagnosis. We didn't want to proceed with it due to costs, and the plumber still required us to pay the diagnosis fee, even though it was not disclosed before the visit.
