Feel heartbeat in stomach postpartum

Hi

I’m a FTM now 7 months postpartum. My OBGYN and a PFT I saw briefly both thought my level of diastasis recti was mild but ever since I’ve given birth my abdomen has never been the same. In the beginning every time I ate anything I felt like my stomach was going to fall off my body. This sensation has subsided a bit but I still have other symptoms. Despite losing all my pregnancy weight, my stomach bulges a bit. I have a sense that my organs are exposed and it gives me pain to have the weight of the baby or one of my cats step on certain areas of my stomach. I can also feel my heartbeat in my stomach now. I frequently have stomach and back pain. Are these relatable postpartum symptoms to anyone else?

I’m anxious I have an AAA though I would have no risk factors for it. I have intense health anxiety in general so I’m trying to figure out if this is something I should worry about or ignore.

ETA: Out of curiosity I did a self assessment of my diastasis. It seems like there is no gap below my belly button and a one finger gap above my belly button. I feel pretty confident I can accurately assess the situation.

Finished granny square, plan to turn into a lovey for son

This is the first thing I’ve made since making a Wooble kit. It’s a very tight granny square pattern. I’m planning on making a bear head to attach to the top to make it into a lovey for my son.

I really struggled to weave the ends into the stitches and can see that my tension varies throughout.

Can I make a baby blanket or lovey if my only experience is making a Wooble?

My first experience with crochet was making a Wooble my husband bought for my bday and I liked it more than I expected. I have an infant and would really love to make him a lovey and a blanket but I don’t feel confident I could do it without a step by step video like Wooble. What is the easiest pattern to make, suggestions for video tutorials?

I need advice on what type of yarn, hook, etc. as well.

Just realized I may not be preparing formula correctly

To prepare my son’s formula, I boil water in an electric kettle then pour it into the Dr. Brown’s formula pitcher and add formula scoops and mix. I usually let it sit on the counter for ~30 minutes or so to cool down and then put it in the fridge. Letting it cool prevents clumps ime. A couple hours after that I usually pour the formula into individual bottles for ease of use and wash the pitcher for the next day. I reheat the bottles in a warmer before feeding. I’ve been doing this everyday for about 4-5 months and never had any issues.

But I’m reading a lot of things suggesting the formula is in the dangerous temperature zone for too long. I would like the water to be warm because it mixes better but I guess we could switch to cold. Baby is almost 7 months.

Personally I was also concerned about pouring boiling water into a plastic pitcher as well but the Dr. Brown’s pitcher seemed highly recommended and we were making the formula decision very suddenly under a lot of emotional duress so I didn’t have time to think more about it. If anyone has any better suggestions for how to safely prep formula I’m all ears. Thanks!

ETA:
My formula container doesn’t say I need to boil water or use any special kind of water. But for peace of mind I ordered a kettle that allows you to select the temp and I will mix formula at exactly 158 going forward.

Best back carriers?

Hi all!

I am wondering how old a baby has to be to be carried on the back and what the best/easiest back carriers are?

My baby is 6 months old and he’s never loved being worn. I also really struggle to put carriers on myself. So far we’ve done the ergobaby embrace and a solly wrap. I also own a ring sling I’ve never used and one of those hip assist carriers.

I’m mainly looking for options for places that aren’t stroller friendly such as picking apples this fall etc.

Conflicting info on fb message chat

Hi

I recently made a new fb account after several years without one. I sent a message to my ex’s mom (who I was not fb friends with) because I wanted to reach out and catch up. We always had a friendly relationship and I was amicable with my ex after our breakup although it has now been several years..I’m married and have a baby now etc.

After she didn’t respond after a few days I sent a friend request too in case we needed to be friends for her to see my message. Now our chat says “you’re not friends” at the top but then says “you are now friends in the chat.” I thought maybe she saw my request finally. Although now when I click on her profile it says the content isn’t available. According to Google that may mean she blocked my account.

It’s possible she doesn’t want to talk to me, but if that’s the case I would be really really surprised.

Any other thoughts or possibilities? Why does the chat say in two separate places two things about whether we’re friends or not??

What was the very first food you introduced baby to?

FTM to a 6 month old and feeling very overwhelmed with what and how to serve real food to my baby. He does well with fruit purées and less so with veggie purées. I need to find foods that would encourage him to take bites and chew. We gave him a piece of avocado once and he just let it sit in his mouth which scared me so I took it away.

Don’t feel bonded to baby 6 months PP

I’m a FTM to a 6mo boy. I always planned to EBF. I struggled with latching baby after birth and turned to EP early on. I believe I had an overactive letdown that overwhelmed my baby and made him unlatch frequently. I slowly got him to latch consistently and was so proud. I mostly BF for maybe a month. Then he started getting really fussy, cried all day and never slept. Eventually I became convinced he had CMPA and we eventually turned to Similac Alimentum after agonizing over the decision. He has done better on formula but tbh he is still the hardest baby I’ve ever known. He throws up constantly to the point where it’s legitimately hindered his development. For example, he now has a doc band due to not enough tummy time.

I feel immense guilt over choosing to stop bf but it was legitimately killing me. The baby crying stressed me out so much I never ate and bf zapped all my calories and weight off. I still struggle to eat because the baby cries if you set him down and has continued to be a difficult napper.

He seems to be developing a preference for my husband more and more each day. I can’t help but feel I should’ve stuck with bf. It’s especially hard because people continue to ask me about bf and each time it reopens a wound I’m trying to close.

How to transition from purées to thicker/solid foods?

I’m a FTM to a 6 month old. I’ve been feeding him Gerber purees since 5 months. They are pretty watery and he does well on them. The other day I tried giving him a butternut squash one that was a little thicker. He kept gagging and didn’t seem to like it at all so I stopped after two exposures. Now it seems challenging overall to give him food. I cut up an avocado into small pieces to try to give him his first solid food but he was not attempting to chew and swallow it. He let it sit in his mouth while trying to “talk” and interact so I panicked and took it away. I also offered a mashed avocado which was similar to puree but thicker. He also did not want that.

I have no idea how to transition away from purées and what is safe to give him? He does not seem to have an instinct to chew. I’m not sure if maybe I’m just starting too early? I was panicking about introducing all the allergens in time so I wanted to start ramping up and he’s had a whole month of purées. I’m not sure what else to do to prepare him for the next step.

TIA

FTM to a 6 month old, when does it actually get better?

Really struggling today and most days. It’s just my husband and I taking care of our child with the majority of the care being on me during the day. I don’t think I do well without breaks. I’ve long struggled with anxiety, depression, and disordered eating habits. Since giving birth Ive completely lost my appetite not to mention it’s incredibly hard to both cook and find time to eat because the baby is not independent at all. I’ve lost a considerable amount of weight and definitely do not take in the recommended calories or food variety. I frequently worry that I will just die before having a chance to recover from the birth. Right now I just keep waiting but I’m not sure how much longer I can hold out.

No appetite postpartum

I’m a FTM to a 5 month old. I’ve battled an eating disorder for roughly a decade on and off. Though I do have some body image issues, my eating disorder is primarily anxiety driven. It all started in college when I was under a lot of stress and I suddenly was unable to swallow food. I have tried my best to recover off and on for the past ten years with some years being better than others. While pregnant, I had cravings and a healthy appetite and gained the recommended amount of weight. Freshly postpartum I was BF and very hungry but then the baby began to have a colicky phase where he cried 24/7 and never slept and I rapidly lost all my pregnancy weight and stopped eating. We are now formula feeding (not due to supply issues). Breastfeeding also made me lose weight very fast. I’ve been successful at eating some days and less on others, I am roughly my prepregnancy weight but I know I’m not eating as much or as well as I am. I typically only have the drive to eat sugary snacks and some days not even that. I have very little desire to eat typical meals, even things I used to like. Honestly it’s exhausting trying to force myself to eat. Even when I let myself dream up any takeout I can think of, absolutely nothing ever sounds good. I also only eat when the baby is asleep as he is very clingy.

Did anyone else experience this? Any advice?

Best mid-size city with mild winters to raise family?

I’ve lived in the same location my entire life. Currently I’m a new mom and planning to be a SAHM for the foreseeable future. My husband works remotely and can live anywhere. We are wanting to move to have a new experience with our new family.

We are looking for the following criteria:

  1. Affordable, houses in the 300-400 range
  2. Safe, family friendly
  3. Mild winters
  4. Access to outdoor activities/spaces/hiking
  5. City perks but nice suburban area to live day to day

We have thought about the Raleigh area, some places in TN (Chattanooga/Knoxville) but we don’t have the knowledge to even know where to start looking.
