Picked up a green ceramic insert off AliX. I was concerned about how no insert I've come across really matches the green dial (especially the OEM green aluminum insert) but this goes really well IRL.

I have a solar MTPS120L which I love. But I'm wondering if anyone has changed out hands on one. Love everything about the watch except the useless lume on the hands. Like... worse than useless.
I don't even care if there isn't a stitch of lume on the dial; I'm OK with that.

Hey all. I'm replacing a ~9-year-old 27" 5K Retina iMac with a crappy but got-the-job-done 25" HP monitor. I already own a 15" M4 MacBook Air and am considering using it as my only computer, docked at my desk with two 27" 5K monitors.
I'm used to the 5K iMac display and so find the current 25" HP secondary monitor to be glaringly less quality (of course), so I specifically want 5K/Retina-class pixel density rather than ordinary 27" 4K displays. But while I'll invest in some good gear... I wonder of the studio display's improved performance isn't quite worth the addtional thousand dollars more for the pair over the BenQ or Asus.
Hell, I don't even know for sure if a 5K display is worth the premium over a 4k. Let me know.
I'm currently leaning toward two BenQ MA270S 5K Nano Gloss displays, with the ASUS PA27JCV as another possibility. Apple Studio Displays are more than I'm willing to spend on principle. The premium just for what they are bugs me on principle, lol.
I'm less concerned with finding the cheapest budget option. I don't mind the "buy once, cry once" thought process for good gear/equipment that I'll have for a long time and use daily. For anyone using the BenQ MA270S—or another 27" 5K display alongside a Mac:
How does it compare visually with a 5K iMac/Studio Display, particularly text sharpness and the glossy appearance? (I know the quality won't match, but just wondering how close it is.
Any panel-uniformity or QC issues?
Any Mac sleep/wake or connection problems?
If you're running two 5K displays from an M4 MacBook Air, what dock are you using?
Can both displays reliably run at full 5K through a single-cable dock setup?
Is the quality of the BenQ worth $600 more than the Asus?
I'm also open to any other suggestions for a decent 5K monitor.
Context: I'm not a gamer. This is for general surfing, youtube, reddit and working my job, which entails creating a lot of spreadsheets and PDF's.

Anyone have any experience with these, or any others? I only know a few beard oil scents that I really like but think it would also be stupid to walk around with something on top and another thing on the beard.

Just came in today. My most expensive Duro at a back-breaking 75 bucks.
I was 10% bummed b/c I planned on taking the green bezel insert from my Starbucks 106 and adding here to hulk out this 107. But... the 106 green is a little too emerald with almost a teal influence. This dial looks awesome, but is less emerald, maybe leaning a hair toward yellow. Wouldn't look good.
But... URVintage has a slew of green inserts, so... all good.
EDIT: thank you all for ideas and references to things in the game. At the moment, we don't know how to get into his (campaigns?"). The game just sort of seems to want to start new. We can't even seem to be able to get the background music to play, which i would love to surprise my wife with if I can. It was a comforting sound when it wafted out from his room. So I'll likely be looking for some help, or even some one on one if it's complex- to learn how to navigate some things.

I will not trauma dump all my shit, but for context:
I suddenly lost my 14yr old son almost 18 months ago. He was our whole life, our purpose, and a son I can't believe I had a part in creating. ... straight A's, friends in various clicks... not the popular kid, but popular in that everyone who knew him loved him... he was all the things, and beautiful like his mom (thank God). A complete shock to everyone. Life is sort of shit now without our only amazing child. And will be for the duration, it seems. Ok, you're caught up.
I have a few tats and plan to get some more, a few different size and ideas relating to my son. When he was 12, unbeknownst to us, he somehow found EU4 and dug into it. It replaced minecraft as his favorite game and, over time, he actually got pretty skilled at it. As far as we know, he was completely self taught. I was so impressed when he would call me in to show me what he had accomplished.
My wife and I researched the game and we were even more impressed once we learned how complex it was. We even found an article somewhere where a European history teacher at NC State (we live nearby) credited EU4 for tripling the size of his class over the course of a year or so.
ANd then even more impressed much later when I saw a reddit post where a newbie asked for advice, or directions to any "EU4 101" type information, and the consensus was essentially "nope. you just gotta go in and start pushing buttons." Well, our boy did just that and through trial, error and his own research, he seemed to get pretty well-versed in the nuances of the game.
He had been playing the morning we lost him. He was so bright, and we were so impressed with his understanding of the strategies involved.. all the things. OK, sorry... onto the ask:
I'm wondering if there is some... IDK.. imagery?... from the game that might make for some good ink. I see the game logo seems to be a compass... and yeah, even a simple well done compass can look good... but it's not... enough of a reference to him. Does that make sense? i wondered of there is other imagery that would make good ink while holding the story of the game for anyone who asks... hey, what's behind that?...
I don't know what I'm looking for exactly. It doesn't have to be pulled from the graphics or anything. Is EU4 fan art a thing? I have no idea, and I am completely open to any ideas that anyone may have to offer.
I'm not a gamer. And other than Minecraft, EU4 and some Elden Ring (sp?), neither was my boy. But I never minded when we would be buried in that game because IMO it's a thinking man's game. He always kept his grades up, never asked for a thing, so... conquer away, boy. I was so proud of him.

My son explained:
Wife and I are looking at the dishwasher, acknowledging that it's going to need to be repaired. My son (13yo) is skating around the house on inline skates munching on something or other. LVP flooring, so no one cares. He skates by us, stops and looks at it and matter-of-factly declares: "That dishwasher's on its last legs like the Byzantine Empire in the 14th century." and just skates off.
30 seconds later he makes the completely sensible decision to pour himself a glass of O.J. and skate it back to his room. So you know... it's a wash. Pushing on the pull door at the school for the gifted a la Gary Larson... that was my son. I miss him so much.
And...any information anyone here can offer as to.. anything about this... is appreciated.

It was already drilled, I believe, and another guy there sautered the bail for me and got me squared away with a cord. Wore it 24/7 on a silk (i think) cord for a few years. I'd like to see if getting another hole drilled is doable and turn this into a leather bracelet..."centerpiece?", if you will. (open to style suggestions/ideas.)
Can anyone tell me where I should look to find someone to do that for me? Would they be local? Should I send off to somewhere?

While the price point is lower than many, I understand their customer service hasn't suffered as a result of their brick and mortar collapse. And I THINK they're stuff is still durable... But IDK...
Wandrd Transit Carry on.- IDK I just think it looks like a good bag.
Topo Designs Global Roller- I dig the Topo vibe. Messed with the bag, it seems like a cool layout.
Bellroy Lite Transit- Really packable, soft.. IDK, looks cool.

Organization is cool if it's there, but ok if it's just a dump bag. Same with a laptop sleeve. Meh. Most EDC/tech stuff will be on my back/at my feet in a pack.
A 2-wheeled Peak Design Carry on roller would be my ultiimate carry- on. But no such animal exists.

Re: actually carrying on- I'm not so concerned with the likes of Ryan Air or other budget lines who have bag nazis with size buckets at the gate. And.. I've never had a bag refused from a flight so far, but... A few of these I've mentioned... Kuiu and Pelican, I think, if not others, are an inch or even 2 above the linear max measurement of 45".
Do the usual suspect airlines actually strictly gate keep the carry on standards? (AFAYK).

TL:DR while Aer bags- and most others, it seems- seem to cap out at 16" laptops, my wife's mondo 17" IT developer-centric work laptop fits fine in the main compartment (with a little wiggle room) and also in the laptop sleeve of the CP2, albeit more snugly. Zips and unzips just fine.
Wife (an IT developer/mgr for a F500 company) has been lugging her monstrosity of a 17" laptop to and from work withh a few othwr odds and ends in my Evergoods CPL24 for months. Which clearly means I'm not using my smallest bag as my EDC as it was meant to be. So I finally get off my ass and order her an Aer.
Did a little digging, and saw the the CP2 is a pretty well-regarded bag, so I picked one up. Stupidly, only then did I notice that the specs call for a max of a 16" laptop. Crap. Dug some more and even saw Nomads Nation try to fit a 17" into an Aer 16" laptop bag. It was doable, but he looked to have difficulty, and it looked like- if using the suspended sleeve- the laptop was in there, but the corners were "sticking out against the bag material". you know, like too-short hangars leaving "harks" (hangar marks, if you really don't know) on your shirts' shoulder seams. So it seemed to be a no-go.
I keep digging and found that most bags seem to cap out at 16". Well, crap. Then the bag gets here yesterday.
Bottom line is... in the suspended laptop sleeve, it sort of LOOKS like it won't work. But when I zipped, it closed smoothly. Yes, you can feel the corners pretty much right there at the top, but it's not causing harks. And again, it zips and unzips fine. At no point did I look at it or feel around and think "oh crap, I hope I don't void the warranty"... It's fine.
And if you bypass the sleeve, and just throw it into the bag, it fits even better with a little wiggle room. And for those who are freaked out about a laptop sitting at the bottom of your bag instead of in a suspended sleeve... Well, before I knew what good bags were, I carried my laptop like this for 20 years in an Oakley Icon or Kelty MAP3500, lol. (read: no padding in the bottom of either.) I've never broken one. Nor do I throw my bag around, so I guess there's that. Is the suspended sleeve a good feature? Sure. Is it ground-breaking and saving laptops around the world? ? meh...
So there you go. Even with the CP2's rounded shape at the top, a 17" will fit- with room to spare- in the main compartment (but not "bounce around the room" room. Just a little wiggle room.) And in the sleeve with the suspended bottom... it'll also fit snugly, and the bag will zip and unzip just fine.

When I see the inserts on his page, they look... pretty beat. from "paint strokes" to fuzzy numbers. But from what I gather...
a) he literally just thrown the insert on top of the one in the watch, takes the pic to show you what it looks like and moves on.
b) what people receive is a well-done insert and I haven't heard anyone bitch or return it.
I'm especially looking to see if anyone has a bakelite from him. Also, I wonder if there should be any concern that his are resin, while other modern bakelite styles are sapphire.
Pic of one style I really like, with some minute markers and a 12hr, 2nd time zone capability. Thinking of it for the Bluro. But like I said... this looks a little... beat. Am I seeing things?
I'm Gen X, and my dad had an '85 GW Aspencade when I was growing up. I remember the windshield being huge, super-wide... the dash was like a command center. Saw a post today with a guy's '96 model. Same. Or even more so. Huge windscreen that looked like you just weren't going to get any of that wind. Same command center type dash/console. Majestic, lol.
Even the early/mid 2000's, with the bright colors- yellow, cobalt blue, etc... were still huge bikes.
Then I see the newest gen, and it strikes me as more narrow, with a more narrow, shorter windscreen, streamlined (less... what, ability to micro-adjust?) controls... Even on the loaded out tour trims.
Has the GW, in fact, given up some protection/comfort for a more aggressive style and/or riding experience? I see the windscreen in particular. More narrow, looks like it doesn't come up as high even when raised...
Or has Honda just gotten better at engineering and aerodynamics, and can now accomplish more with less surface?

For years, and across my few bikes in the last 20 years: 2 Victory Hammers, BMW K1200R, BMW R1200GS... (before that were a few sport bikes in my 20's...) I've always assumed I was going to eventually pick up a touring bike, but was leaning toward the style of the Indians and, admittedly, was a little biased against the GW "old guy" vibes.
But now- lol- I'm even a little older (56) and more about actual function and comfort over retro-cool image. Literally why I went out to buy a Tacoma in '23 and came home with a Ridgeline, lol. Those same reasons are why I glance at the GW's from time to time. (I haven' had a bike for some years now).
And then my debate is.. even with the comfort of the GW, I have to say... the most fun I've had on any bike I've ever owned, pound for pound, was the dual sport BMW R1200GS. Simply a blast. Would it still be more fun than a GW after a few days riding on a road trip?... Probably not. But still... The ease of riding and negotiating that bike is epic.
So.. fill me in on the evolution of the GW. Thanks.

Bought this a few weeks ago, but it sat on my desk staring at me while I EDC'd my also-newly-acquired Vaer C4 Tactical.
Didn't know when/where I'd take it on its 1st spin. Turns out, it was yesterday on a flight to Portugal, then over to just off the water in Vigo, Spain to step off for 100km of the Camino.
On other news, ive informed my wife that Urvintage and WR exist, and that there will be some mod-builds in our future.

I come to you tool-challenged to start, aside from the basic wrench, pliers, bit driver, home improvement things... I can change brakes and a ceiling fan and suburban crap like that. Not much beyond. Especially clueless as to metal working. Here is my issue.
I have an aluminum bezel insert for a watch (pic just for size/shape example). Outer diam is 40.8mm, give or take .1, and inner is 32.8 w/ same variance(if that matters).
How can I rig something up so that I can grind the outer edge down by just .5mm or so.
I know I can take a dremel to the outer edges manually, but I'm not trying to be that precise if I don't have to be. Truth be told, I can't see a way that could ever be done evenly.
And on top of that, you can see the insert is sloped. Just for added kicks.
Any advice on how to set something up so... IDK.. this is somehow spinning while centered on some drill bit or something?... I'd have to have something solid and perfectly fit to the inner diameter, and then on the drill? Or have this spinning on something fixed while hbringing sandpaper to the outer edge? No idea.
Not concerned about grinding away markings; this is just to show an example of the insert.
Or... is there somewhere I could take this where accomplishing what I want would be an every day thing?

EDIT I did see a guy on youtube who described (but didn't actually show) using a diamond file, and said how just removing .5mm took hours. Also said that unless it's a diamond file, it won't do squat against the aluminum.
But mainly, I'm trying to get this done as evenly around the edge as possible... So I would imagine some sort of spinning in the mix would be in order. But again... IDK.
