Anything I can meaningfully upgrade in my build

Main use:

I mostly use it for gaming, with music processing, 3d modeling / slicing

Mostly games that are ram and CPU intensive, like modded Minecraft and Terraria, souls likes, and mobas like deadlock.

Currently using 2 monitors, both are 1080p, ones my main horizontal 144HZ and ones my vertical 75HZ

Location:

Canada, I have access to marketplace, Amazon, and cansdas ckmputers.

Budget:

aiming to make a meaningful upgrade for roughly 300-350 CAD (200~ USD) but if it's a big one I'll invest a bit more

I wouldn't mind upgrading my mobo or my CPU cooler but unfortunately most of my bottlenecking comes from my GPU as its often at a very high usage (99℅ in certain games)

Contents:

CPU - Ryzen 5 5600GT

GPU - Nvidia Zotac 4060 8GB

Memory - 48GB DDR4 3200 MT/S

SSD - WD 1TB SSD

PSU - coolermaster PL650D

MOBO - ASUS Tuf gaming A520M plus wifi

OS - Cachy OS

Will this cause an issue?

I got this memory not too long before the ram crisis and I haven't had any issues yet, but I thought I'd check to be safe. They're from two different kits, same speed, brand, ones an 8x2 and ones an 16x2, both 3600Mhz. I've got one lot in slots 1/3 and the other in slots 2/4.

LineageOS or just de-googling?

I got my nothing phone 3a under a year ago. Recently started getting into a more privacy focused online experience, and generally being more conscious of my footprint. I've already switched off windows and started switching to apps like proton and other alternatives for my phone. I've seen word of an unofficial LineageOS and Eos for the 3a.

My question is, would I be better off continuing with nothing os, disabling as many Google apps as I can, and eventually falling victim to the removal of sideloading, or should I find an OS that I can really be private on?

One specific game crashes whenever a specific event happens

To preface, I'm on the latest version of cachy using KDE plasma.

My computer has a 4060 8gb, 48GB ddr4 3200MHz, and a Ryzen 5 5600gt.

I recently migrated back over to cachy os after having left it a while ago. I'm on day 4 or 5 of my return and I've been figuring out my games library. I have one game called deadlock, which is an early access moba hero shooter from valve. This game on windows and Linux typically runs without much stutter but uses upper 90% of my GPU usage as well as most of my Vram. The game feels great, it'll have an initial lage spike when I load in, and another when it loads in the settings menu, but when I use one heros ultimate ability, which summons a scaling amount of bats (entities with hitboxes) in large numbers my game freezes the second before it hits my peripherals.

I've tested this using it myself, and having a friend use it in the lobby. My GPU goes to 100% use then drops back down to normal, 20-30% use as if the game isn't loaded. My CPU doesn't spike at all and my memory usage is minimal. The audio from the ult keeps playing on loop and if I open the esc menu I can see my game style cursor and I can move it.

This is my favourite game ATM and having one ability crash my game has had me too worried about abandon penalties to get into a game just incase some other ability would do it too but I haven't tested yet. Any help or words are appreciated.

Dumbphone recommendations

I'm looking into purchasing a dumbphone to try to ease off my smartphone use a bit more. I still intend on having a smart phone for RCA texting, banking, 2FA for my uni, etc. but I intend to keep it off and deep in my bag at all times, never to enter my room and rarely my house. I'm a student in Canada so preferably nothing more than 150USD. I'm aware that most dumb phones come in a flip phone form, but I'm really open to anything not shaped like a smart phone, or a small smart phone that I can strip down and replace with a different os like graphene or similar.

I already own a watch, 3ds, notebooks, and other things I'll need to replace the phone, I just need to find out which one I'll want.

T9 is perfectly acceptable for me, I'd prefer if it could mostly just call and text and if I could put my SIM card into it. Hotspotting would be a nice bonus but not necessarily by any means.

Linux support

Any help is appreciated

I recently swapped over to Ubuntu Linux and I checked proton dB to see deadlock compatibility with Linux. Every says it runs wonderfully on their systems. I'm using proton experimental with one or two custom optimization launch options but nothing big. It loaded Vulcan and stuttered but I seem to get pretty big CPU peaks up to 98% usage on most cores. It also almost crashes every time I click settings and never actually opens the menu.

Any ideas?

Screen replacement

I've got a 3ds from my youth that I recently cracked open again and I noticed black splotches along the corners. I'm looking at replacement screens and they're fairly cheap, but how difficult is it really?

The grell oae1 (followup)

Just under a week ago I made a post asking about the thoughts on the grell oae1 as I had ordered them. I've only been using them and hour or so but to me they feel like a regular dark headphone.

All around the bass is very punchy for an open back, I certainly wish the mids had a bit more energy, especially in that 3k dip, that being said, I'm happy to report the lack of eargain irritation 😆. The treble is nonexistent to say it lightly. The 5.5 to 10k dip certainly takes out a LOT of energy.

Subjectively, I've always been rather treble sensitive, but certainly not a fan of dark cans. These are an exception, mostly because the concept is very very cool in general. The imaging is absolutely fantastic and the soundstage feels kinda oval shaped. Very claustrophobic on the sides and big Infront and behind the head. The bass is very present and forward and the lower mids are thick and rich, which definitely doesn't help with the claustrophobic effect created by the crazy clamp force. Despite the bass, it's not muddying or irritating like a lot of bass forward cans are to my ear. It's a non fatiguing kind of bass.

Comfort wise, the clamp force is very strong, which. I imagine is necessary to get a good seal. The pads are very stiff, fluffy, but stiff. They're certainly on the heavier side but nothing super uncomfortable. Similar to the weight of the Sundara.

I like the cans. They'll stick in my collection for as long as I feel like I want dark, warm, thick headphones in my collection to contrast my neutral and treble heavy cans.

I bought the grell oae1. What to expect?

These are a pair that did NOT review well. Made by legendary headphone designer axel grell, they feature a forward firing driver and aimed to challenge the diffuse field standard.

To be honest, I had these in mind more so as a novelty. Designed by grell, never done before, some rave about the sound, some hate it. I embrace that the chances are ill be on the latter considering I'm very much so a grado enjoyer. That being said, the 650 enjoyer side of me has hope that this will fill the need for a warm, full lower range open back that I've been hoping for. While I do enjoy my details, I could see a place for this set in my collection.

For those who have had the headphones in the past or today, what's your experience? With the big brother having released recently, should I just wait for a price drop on those? What eq profiles work well with them? If I like the oae1, would the oae2 be a worthy upgrade or a sidegrade?

Thank you to anyone who answers. I can't wait till they get here on Wednesday

DMS omega pad alternatives

Hey, I'm based in Canada and I'm planning on building a pair of DMS omega. I already own most of the pieces, just need to get the adhesive, mesh, wiring, and headband. I'm curious about the pads, and if the dekoni choice suede are the only option. I've got a pair of dekoni elite series sheepskin pads for my hifiman sundaras, and using these to save about 100CAD would be a huge cut on costs. How would it affect the tuning? Is there a reason it's suede? Could I grab a cheap set of suede pads of AliExpress for a similar sound or does it need to be the dekoni branded ones?

Looking to build a measurement rig

I'm looking to make a measurement rig of my own to compare mods and various headphones of my collection. I won't be comparing to established machines, tools, or sites, so accuracy isn't a priority, mostly looking for consistency.

I've been in the hobby for a minute and I feel like it's time I start learning eq and measuring rather than just buying and using headphones. Preferably the rig is 3d printed as I'm trying to keep costs low. I'm in the midfi and Im a full time student with a job, so not a lot of money to be spending on a full rig. Any recommendations?

I'm based in Canada.

Should I buzz my hair or let it grow out and do it's thing?

I've never buzzed my hair before, and I've always had it kinda longer. I recently got my first short haircut and I'm in the awkward phase between long and short hair right now. First two are just day to day closer to the time of the cut. It stayed flatter but felt jagged. Last two are me right now. My hairline is fine but my hair feels hard to tame and boring unless washed with leave-in every day.

Should I buzz it or let it do it's thing but pay more attention to it? I think my face shape lends itself to look good with most haircuts so any suggestions are welcome

Humpty dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,

Crack went his head,

and ideas he bled,

To strangers of which he knew nothing at all.

They shout hooray for inspiration he gave,

While he lie cold, deep in his grave.

And all the kings horses and all the kings men,

need not put him back together again.

They wanted his pieces,

all the best parts,

So that they may steal his puddle of art.

Now Humpty lay beneath his great wall,

Trying to collect his thoughts,

but forgetting them all.

I used to write much more often and I've found myself lacking and longing creativity. This is one I wrote just about a year ago that remains a favourite as I feel it represents my current situation well.

Thank you for your time.

Tubes on hd6xx

I've recently acquired a pair of sennheiser hd6xx to pair with my current collection as I was missing an over ear open back dynamic driver.

They sound excellent on my schiit magni Modi, but id like to try tubes. I'm based in Canada and I've heard the apos gremlin pairs very very well with them but I'm curious if there are any other dac/amps available, be it solid state, R2R, tube, balanced or otherwise around the price of the apps gremlin. Preferably a desk form factor as it'll be used in my desk audio chain.

I've also heard good things about the JDS labs atom.
