while transitioning to vegatarian ive realize its a lot easier than i thought

I used to be one of those people who thought i could never go without meat, but now that ive been trying ive realized i dont love it as much as i thought i did. I never have enjoyed eating meat for breakfast and the only meat i ever ate was chicken. Ive literally just replaced meals I used to use chicken for with beans or eggs. The only struggle is when going out to eat places and there arent options other than a salad (which, as someone who just got over cyclospora im trying to avoid for a bit lol). I used to think removing meat from my diet would be so hard but i dont even notice it 90% of the time...

weekend of vegatarian eating in KC,MO

First pic some gnoochi and vodka sauce pasta, second pic all the food is completely vegan (i had a smash burger with cashew cream nacho sauce and it was amazing), and last pic is my caprese toastie from this morning. Who knew kansas city missouri had so many plant based options?! not pictured but we also had vegan sushi with plant based "salmon". insane. as someone wanting to make the switch this weekend made it seem so easy

anyone struggle with tofu/soy alternatives at first :(

edit to say tysm for all the tips! i will try  tempeh and all of preperation methods you guys reccomended. A lot of you pointed out i dont even have to eat tofu at all to be healthy without meat so thats comforting.

I want to stop eating meat and ive prob cut my intake in half in the past six months bc my partner went vegan so we dont really eat it at home. The problem is no matter how many times ive tried tofu in different ways i never like it- but i really want to. We eat beans and lentils and I eat eggs but i feel like im missing just being able to eat a chicken breast and get a bunch of protein. Any advice? do i need to just keep eating it and then at some point ill like it? Ive tried asking this in r/vegan and lowkey got torn apart so im begging for kindness and understanding, im genuiely trying

just got my band today, was super excited but hr reads seem innaccurate at times :/

I have POTS and for the past year have used my apple watch to track my heartrate (using the tachymon app). I wanted to try visible bc i need to work on pacing but there have been times today that my hr on the apple watch has been 10-20 bpm higher than whats showing on my visible app :( super disappointed to see this seems to be a common issue. Is there any hope for i working or getting sent a new one?

I feel like my neck and headache issues are directly correlated to my POTS but i cant prove it

I have hypermobile and have insane neck pain and tension headaches. Some might be related to coat hanger pain but honestly i think its deeper than that. I started having these horrible headaches about 8 months before i found out i had pots and all the other symptoms. Is it insane to think that my neck pain may be correlated to my POTS and does anyone know more about this?

starting to hate electrolytes

ive been diagnosed for like a year and pretty much all i drink all day everyday is electrolytes. I am starting to dread drinking my water bc its so sweet all the time but then most sugar free ones still have a weird sweet taste. Its gotten to the point that im struggling to keep up with my water intake because i just dread it, and then my symptoms flair. Im wondering about salt capsules but i struggle to swallow large pills or pills that are in that hard casing so im not sure if thats a viable option either. ugh. i miss normal water

do people hate transplant as much as they do in insta

I (21F) rly want to move to nyc after i graduate from college in may, but honesly the stuff i see online makes me feel guilty about it. I have wanted to move to the city since middle school and dont rly know where else i would even want to go, and i def dont want to stay in my shitty midwest town but people hate transplant so much and it makes me wonder if im doing something wrong moving there. I am not a rich trust fund baby or anything, so i wouldnt be raising average salaries in neighborhoods or anything. Idk.

how is it so common for people on the internet to think we are faking? literally why would i ever want to feel like this

all my diagnosis's are what people like to call tiktok illnesses. POTS, HSD, ADHD... the list goes on. im not sure if this is as common for other chronic illnesses but i just cant imagine how people think that its so common to pretend to be sick and also why do they care so much about it. like is it not easier to just be kind and accomadating and assume the best of people?! it doesnt help that because things like POTS have a wide spectrum of how disabling it is, there always people with POTS feeding into these ideas being like " there so dramatic i literally just had to work out and drink more water". people are evil.

Injured opposum that has babies

I found an injured opposum that was most likely hit by a car infront of my house. As I attempted to move her to the shoulder of the road she sort of hobbled away which leads me to believe that not all of her limbs are broken, most likely just her back legs. I got a cardboard box to put her in and noticed upon putting her in the box that there were clearly babies moving around in her pouch. I tried calling some animal rescue/conservation numbers online but they are all closed. Does anyone know someone who knows how to care for injured animals/young babies and/or someone to call for a situation like this. Thanks!

is it bad to sit with my legs crossed?

I have always sat with my legs crossed in some way, a couple weeks ago i was sitting with my legs crossed and had a painful pop in my thigh/hip and my lower back was pretty sore for a few days after but then was fine. My mom was saying i should probably stop sitting like that but i honestly dont even realize im doing it and its so comfy

i hate when i remember that other people dont live like this

im 21f and have POTS, hypermobility, adhd, anxiety and tbh probably many other things. I feel like sometimes i am distracting by everyday life and i honestly completely forget that other people are fine 99% of the time. I try not to think about it too much but when i do it hits me like a ton of bricks and lingers in my thoughts for days. i notice it when someone complains to me about a bad doctor or a headache and im like this is my everyday. of course i am happy others dont go through this but it just feels so unfair, especially being young and surrounded by people in "peak" health. it feels lonely, even with the support circles i have- and when i do meet people with similar health issues it always seems like they are less impacted by it or push through it better which is just a whole other weird side of it all where i compare myself to them. ugh. hope some of you can relate.

seemingly random shin pain, similar to shin splints i used to get from running track

anyone else experience this? this will happen randomly, and honestly, usually on days im doing less walking/activitity. As i ponder this I am realizing on those days I usually dont wear my compression socks for my POTS which is probably helping in some way. I also think it may relate to my flat feet... are flat feet a hypermobile thing too? anyways, just wondering if anyone else experiences this

Recommendations for specialist in Missouri?

I’m struggling to find any doctors in Missouri that specialize in dysautonomia/POTS. Has anyone here had any luck with someone? I’m in central MO but willing to travel to KC or STL. I’ve asked Missouri pots Facebook groups and haven’t gotten much feedback….

nerve pain in hands from neck (?), what helps

Hellloo. I have had nerve pain on and off in different areas for about a year. Last summer i had mirrored nerve pain in both of my pinky and ring fingers for weeks and doctors didnt really do anything because i guess my neck xray looked fine. What can I do to help when this flairs up? I know being on my laptop makes it worse but i cant really avoid it because i work from my laptop.

How bad is the job market in NYC for entry level architecture jobs?

I am wanted to move to NYC in August 2027, once I have finished my undergrad degree. I am worried because I have heard how horrible the job market is and honestly I'd say im pretty average in my class of how good my projects are. One thing I have going for me is I am proficient in revit because weve used it almost every semester in school. Is it possible to get an entry level drafting job in NYC with no M.Arch or crazy portfolio?

how to know when you need to raise beta blcoker dose?

Helloo, I have a pcp check up in about a month and im trying to prepare. My doctor doesnt know a ton about POTS but is super accomidating and willing to educate herself on medications or ideas I bring in so I like to check and see what works with you guys here. I do pretty ok with my walking hr (like 110-130) but my hr gets much higher with stairs and hills still (160-180 or higher). I currently day 25 mg XR metoprolol and im wondering if I should up it so I can handle stairs and inclines better (currently i mostly avoid them unless its a very short flight). The only thing that I worry about is I already have low resting HRs, even before beta blockers (40s-50s when fully relaxed) so i get nervous about uping any. Alternatively could guanfacine help instead? I do have overactive adernaline at times and stress makes my POTS much worse.

Edit to add: any luck with conditoning stairs to help?

my pots has been way more sensitive to anxiety the past couple weeks

Ive been conditioning and doing pretty well with my physical capibilities when it comes to POTS but now I feel like my flairs have all been from anxiety??? for example, I dont like driving in storms but its really not an issue typically other than I will be a little nervous while driving but a few days ago my hr got so high while driving I had a pull over because I was feeling faint. I cant tell if this just means my anxiety has gotten worse and in turn makes my POTS worse in those moments or vice virsa. This is just one example of many the past couple weeks. Any ideas? Is it just an overactive sympathic nervous system? are there tools or meds for this sort of thing?
