2250 HPA conversion

Started converting this 2250 to bulk CO2 in years ago but my easy access to CO2 dried up and it went in the cupboard.

I now have easy access to HPA and some turning and machining capabilities. Ideally I’m after an off the shelf kit to convert this to HPA U.K. available in the U.K.
Otherwise can anyone recommend me an instructional website or video that’s trusted?

Get your head round these

Been doing a bit more research into the Armorican arrowheads of Brittany. Finally managed to get some more photos! Pay careful attention to the scale at the bottom

Antler pressure core

First decent core with antler pressure. Interesting difference to copper. Friction was an issue, had to rough the platform surface with abrader, pretty sure this help the fracture initiate.
Flake scars much smoother with less ripping, leaving the edges of the blades straighter.

Peep/ aperture sights?

I’m in the U.K.

Messing around with my grandads old Relum tornado. Needs a decent strip and clean and probably main spring, it’s dieseling pretty good as he absolutely loved this oil can.

Surprised to get down to 3/4” groups at 10 meters with the open sights and rws meister somethings. Can only expect that to improve.

Rear sight particularly is pretty crude, huge gap in it. I saw an article about one that had an aperture sight on it and I liked the look of it. Would love to find a cheap vintage one, can’t find much online, any pointers?

Are cheap new ones going to be worth bothering with? It’s only going to be a plinker so don’t want to spend loads on it.

Also, how’d you clean the barrel on a gun like this with a rotating breech?

Help us find the right paint

Hello

My partner and I are looking for a yellow ocre paint to paint our cabin, but we’re struggling to find it. We’ve been looking at Jotun Demidekk but not sure which to choose. I put some example of the kind of shade we’re looking for. Thanks!

Kilmarnock inspired barbed and tanged

Gorgeous piece of orange yellow Scottish flint from the Buchanan gravels. Worked wonderfully.
Made a Kilmarnock inspired point

Reliability issues with nailer?

Used my mates dewalt nail gun over the weekend for framing and he was telling me he’s had no end of issues with it, problem after problem and half the weekend it was just deciding not to work. Sent it in for repairs twice and issues not sorted.

Problem is we’re both big dewalt users and I hoping he’s just been unfortunate and got a dud. I’d like to get a dewalt nail gun for the future framing (ease of batteries) I’m going to be doing but this has put me off.

Anyone got one, what’s your experience been?

Encouraging the wild rabbits?

We’ve recently got three acres in north wales, U.K. and there are small numbers of rabbits all around us. No warrens on our land but regularly see two or three in our field and there is a dozen or so in the fields behind us. There isn’t currently sufficient numbers for me to sustainably shoot any for food.
We have a collie and im hoping her presence will help deter foxes. Obviously I won’t do anything about any weasels or stoats.
Apart from deterring predators is there much we can do to try and increase their population?
I like the idea of being able to passively farm them and maybe take a handful a year, I don’t know if this is a realistic goal.

Any suggestions?

Back at it, got some questions

Used to shoot loads as a kid and 15 years off since leaving home. Got my own place now and room to play so I’ve been practicing!
My pellets are also at least 10 years old (rws hobbies) and quite tarnished but otherwise I’m good condition. Is tarnish likely to affect accuracy?
Also, when I’m shooting, occasionally the gun will recoil/ kick sideways and throw my shot off. I can’t work out what I’m doing wrong shooting off my gun bag as in photo. Is there a particular thing that causes this or is it just down to inconsistency!
Thanks!

Making beads without a bead mill

I’ve got lots of jasper that I would like to make into spherical beads of around 6-7mm diameter for a necklace. Im likely only going to do it once so not investing in a bead mill.
What’s the best way to go about this? I have a wood lathe that I can run very slowly, is a set up with a small hole saw on a drill going to be my best bet?

Pic of jasper seam for attention

Any feedback

Probably not the best angle but any feedback on form would be great

How many board ft/h realistically for a beginner.

I’m having a timber framed workshop built and it’ll be clad inside and out in larch. Roughly 300m2 or 3200 ft2
I’m considering buying a mill and hiring a loader and cutting my own.
I’ve not used a mill before but I’m an experienced machine user and can drive a loader. Can build jigs/ rigs to make life easier. Plenty of space to work in.

From loading to squaring to cutting to stacking, what might be a reasonable amount of timber to cut an hour?

Basically I’ll have to have time off work to do this so it needs to be financially viable so I’d like to work out roughly how long it would take.

Cheers!

Bell beaker dagger

Bit of trad. Damn it’s hard!

Had this minging piece of flint that wasn’t worth making into something fancy so I thought I’d have a go with trad tools. Little bit of copper pressure at the end and for the notching (trad for Bronze Age Britain). Very different skill set and one I need to practice. Underestimating the importance of isolated platforms cost me a lot of material. Ballsed up my notching around the concrete but oh well.
The early reduction went well but I started getting into difficultly when it got near the end. ThinkI’m going to adjust my billets to be more like boppers and try again.
Probably going to give it a handle and use it as a box cutter

Fancy Suffolk flint

Very rare I get to work larger pieces like this. Very satisfying to take indirect flakes off a large as some of the points I make.
I’m really starting to learn the value of supporting the flakes with my finger from underneath, I’ve got through some pretty nasty stuff with that technique recently
