Charge light staying on and solid orange while plugged into an outlet?

Charge light staying on and solid orange while plugged into an outlet?

Is it normal for the charge light to stay on constantly while on the puck? It would only be on while actually charging when I had it connected to my PC, but once I put it on an outlet it just stays on constantly. Wanted to know if that's normal.

proof of concept

i don't think there's electricity in hell so i just wanted to make a quick proof of concept in case any steam machine owners who happen to like pineapple on pizza want to know how to power their device while facing divine retribution.

i posted something about this before but i forgot to take the screen protector off. used this screen because it is the exact same width as the sm.

also im reaching out to those ali shop owners that make screen attachments for consoles to do this but better and also commercially so will post if i manage to jedi mind trick one into making a modern intec screen for the steam machine.

screen is a 5 inch kogoda screen. powerstation doesnt really matter but mine is an ehom one

How do we know if online classes require meetings or live lectures?

Hey guys,

I'm in phase 2 for a social work bachelor and after having signed up for all of my classes I couldn't see if any classes required meeting times. I'm a transfer student from community college so this has been pretty confusing.

As far as I can tell it only shows how long the course runs for in the fall but nothing else aside from the professor and pre-reqs.

Schedule is empty and all of the courses show the same text as in the first image. Second image is my blank schedule. Does this just mean they're all online/asynchronous/complete on my own time?

Retro Game Corps' overview of the Steam Machine: "Well, I Happen to Love the Steam Machine"

General overview, but cool to see his impressions.

So... how's CEC working for you guys?

Enjoying the Machine so far but CEC seems to be spotty to say the least. Sleep mode wakes up instantly, disables inputs from remote on successful sleep with TV turn-off functionality, seems to really not want to suspend games on sleep as the sleep mode function tends to cause wake-up events only when games are running.

Really hoping that this gets ironed out, I'm on the beta build and CEC has been so dysfunctional on sleep mode that I'm mostly avoiding it. Remote input is nice but the only instance I would want to use it, on YouTube, is mitigated entirely by VacuumTube working perfectly with the Steam controller.

On a LG B5 if that helps anyone doing any level of research on this. Seems to be a common issue on LG TV's but I've seen users report issues on Samsung TV's as well.

Chased down my UPS delivery driver to get the Steam Machine

The dude passed my street like 4 times and told me he was just about to head to my street after the next few stops. The delivery window passed like 2 hours prior and he was close enough to where I just ran to the truck where it said it would be on the tracker.

Felt a little crazy but after having read how often these get delayed to the next day or get stolen by delivery services I didn't want to take any chances.

It is now safe and sound, downloading God of War while my wife and I go out to eat 🫡

Suspicious of AI designing some of the faceplates on Etsy

Edit to add: **The original Etsy shop owner will be leaving a response in the comments, I'm about to go to work but it's only fair to bring attention to his side of the story whatever it may be.

Original body of post:

Saw this faceplate getting some attention from an Etsy storefront so I went to check out the store selling the plates. They appear to be printed nicely with the advertised colors coming out, but the rest of the page reeks of those AI pet art listings (those pages where you send in photos of your pet and you get some kind of 3D printed art style of them, typically a filter overlaid on the original photo). Really wish this sub allowed for multiple images to show, but it only lets me post the one image.

My concern is that these designs are entirely unoriginal. You can see AI going full hallucination mode on the controller and it hallucinated a power symbol on the Steam Machine's power button. The controller is like a weird hybrid of the Stadia and DualShock 4.

I messaged the seller a little while ago to confirm, I know that it isn't uncommon for Etsy stores to freshen up their products with AI (it's strangely common).

What do you guys think? These little errors of the controller face buttons are all over the listings for each faceplate. It could be for accessibility sake if they don't own a Steam Machine but if the designs themselves came from AI, that would be really disappointing :/

Got scammed a few weeks ago on a Quest 3 purchase and was sad, but the processor stepped in and refunded me :)

On the 24th of June I had purchased a Quest 3 with some BoboVR accessories, seller described it as without issue. I didn't realize the top of the head supports were missing from the headset at the time of sale, and I didn't realize how much of an issue dead pixels would be (nor did I think to look for them).

A few hours pass after the sale, and after testing, I count about 6 dead pixels total. I reach out to the guy and tell him that I'd like to return the headset for my money back (offered 20 dollars for him to keep for gas & trouble). After a little while, the guy ends up blocking me once he realizes I hadn't left a negative review yet.

Super bummed I considered a charge back, but didn't want to upset Cashapp since any associated fees would be placed upon them and they may come after me for them. I decided to file a dispute with Cashapp as a last effort, and a couple weeks later they email me telling me the dispute was resolved in my favor.

I suddenly have the motivation to look into VR again lol

Confused on how to get gyro working on Windows.

**SOLVED** you must use the nightly build to support SDL3 input from the Steam controller. Version 4c65780f11-master works for me. This ONLY functions outside of Steam and Steam must be entirely turned off (Eden and Steam input clash).

Hey guys, using the new Steam controller and the emulator detects things just fine but I can't seem to get it to detect gyro. When searching for this I seem to only get results on the Steam Deck with the solution being another program to install some sort of driver. Is it a similar situation on Windows? Selecting configuration on motion only prompts me to shake the controller, only for no input to be read and nothing is bound. Overriding the gyro with Steam input with gyro to joystick is a miserable experience. What gives?

anyone manage to get gyro working with the steam controller in eden on pc?

**SOLVED** eden detects the controller fine, but gyro isn't playing nice. trying to override it with steam input doesn't work since it ignores steam input for its own input settings. i can force gyro to joystick but it's awful.

edit: just use the nightly build it works lol. steam has to be fully not running though, steam input screws everything up

how will other headsets benefit?

so the nice thing about the steam machine, steam controller, and steam deck is that it set a few desirable trends for consumers and related brands to emulate. competition is cool. this is most noticeable with the steam deck with handheld PC's catching the most adoption.

the frame was interesting to me since it seemed to popularize the concept of foveated streaming. what im curious about is if this requires some kind of special hardware or if this is capable of being done on any headset that is already capable of tracking your eyes.

will the galaxy XR, a headset with eye tracking, benefit from this for example? benefiting from this concept while also having micro oled's sounds like an awesome deal. curious what the reality is on this.

i also know the frame is capable of tracking the steam controller standalone via its indicator light. very curious if this tracking will be something exclusive to the frame or if several headsets will be capable of it

i assume there will be a larger wave of emails tomorrow since purchase invitations will begin expiring

am i correct in assuming this 🤔 the 3 day window for purchases to complete should be expiring tomorrow from the first wave, i imagine a bunch of email invitations to complete the purchase will go out after expiration

The only thing holding me back from ANY other headset is compatibility with the 2026 Steam controller. Anyone else?

I purchased a Quest 3 with a bunch of BoboVR accessories for 320 USD recently, was a solid deal and I've been enjoying VR.

I figure any future iteration of VR will be unsubsidized so the price of entry will only go up. No guarantee I'll make it into the lottery for the Frame when its release window is revealed, so I figured no harm no foul if I ultimately end up with two headsets.

I've enjoyed the media experience so much that I was considering the high end display models like the Galaxy XR, but when considering PCVR the Steam controller is something I really care about. The concept of a portable monitor resizable to my liking is extremely appealing and after using the Steam controller refresh, I don't want to use anything else for flat games. Steam input has become highly integral to my enjoyment of games I would never dream of playing on a controller.

What about you guys? Think this rationale makes sense or do you think it's a little goofy?

Things look kind of.. bad? Am I doing something wrong?

Bought a Quest 3 with the BoboVR fan and battery pack strap, controllers work well and lenses were perfect. Bought it for 320 on marketplace. I wear glasses and figured that would be fine since I enjoy the FOV I have, but things just look kind of shoddy. VR videos on YouTube look super low quality even after bumping to the 4000 or 2000 quality slider (unsure what it is as a metric so I'm just recalling what I remember).

Things are in focus but they just look kinda low quality. Menus seem decently sharp, mostly just videos that are in VR that seem low quality. Is this just the compression of YouTube VR videos or am I missing something?

For the record I am using VR for the first time since Oculus was doing their demos as a startup in PAX. Regular flat videos that play in 2k resolution look good, nice and sharp.

I originally bought this headset for PCVR but I've enjoyed watching regular videos so much I'm considering purchasing a Galaxy XR.

I haven't used VR since Oculus demo'd at PAX East. I want to purchase a Galaxy XR and have questions.

The Steam Frame made me interested in the space, and oh my goodness it has advanced like crazy. Surprised to see Oculus was bought by Meta of all companies.

Industry impressions aside I was greatly interested in the Galaxy XR. The Steam Machine price soured my expectations on the Frame and figured if I'm gonna look into this space I should look into something that would really be of interest to me.

After watching a bunch of Galaxy XR content, my impressions are that it's got top of the line displays while having pretty abysmal controllers. I of course am not a VR gamer since I never got into the space. I am primarily interested in media consumption, but gaming is an interest to me as well, namely PCVR. Wondering how Alyx would play if the controls seem somewhat dependent on Index style controls?

I lean towards the Galaxy XR because it seems the Play for Dream MR is out of stock and I've already established myself in the Samsung ecosystem (headphones and phone).

My first question is this: are any of my impressions or takeaways misguided? I'm not headstrong about any of them. My total time of digging into this is probably a collective 7 or so hours. And a follow-up question, is there any workaround or common solution to the XR's shoddy controls?
