Big Thanks to Teflon Customs

Just wanted to say, huge thank you to Teflon Customs in Littleton for the work they did on my G19.3.

They did the stippling, Cerakote (Magpul FDE), mag catch scallop, undercut, and finger groove/grip removal. They also cerakoted the SLR magwell, Vickers extended mag catch, HB Industries comp, and a couple of mag base plates.

Really digging how this came together. Other stuff on it are a Trijicon SRO, Streamlight TLR7 HL-X, Overwatch Precision PolyDAT Trigger, AmeriGlo Sights, Zaffiri ZPS.3 Slide, and Parker Mountain Machine Barrel.

If anyone is wondering about their work, it is absolutely top notch. Their responsiveness to some of the questions I had was fantastic and they kept me in the loop along the way as the work was done. From delivery of the frame to it being delivered back to my front door took 9 days which is very impressive turnaround. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Excited to put some rounds down range with it.

Online Mail-In Cerakote

Looking to get a 43X slide cerakoted in Troy Coyote Tan and I’m looking for a couple different options where I can just mail the slide off, have them do the work, and have them mail it back. I can strip the slide from all the parts and reinstall them without an issue so not worried about that.

What companies have you guys had success with?

G19.3 Finger Groove Removal, Stippling, and Cerakote

Anyone know of anywhere in the MA area that would be capable of handling all three in one stop? Maybe even a trigger guard undercut as well? Or I’d say at the very least the stippling and cerakote?

I’m looking to have the frame cerakoted Magpul FDE while leaving the stippled grip areas black. Something pretty similar to the G43X photo attached without the magwell modification.

DDC Rattle Can Lower Matxh Complete

DDC Rattle Can Lower Match Complete

So I feel as the journey is complete. Finally got the 12.5” Geissele Blemula DDC Upper complete and rattled lower fully built and complete.

I will say that I’m overall happy with how it all came together and that there is a variation among the colors but there are hints of matching.

Photos from beginning to end are the progress of the idea/attempt.

Let me know what ya think 🤙

Attempt to Match DDC

So I recently couldn’t help myself and decided that I needed a new upper and handguard after seeing the blemula sale on PA. So I took advantage of the sale and picked up a DDC tabbed upper and DDC 11.5” tabbed handguard to go along with a Geissele 12.5” CHF barrel and Superlative Arms AGB.

I decided I would go down the rabbit hole and chase trying to spray a lower I have to match DDC.

In my pursuit of trying to color match, I had a couple of chinesium faux railscales lying around that I decided to paint as a test match. Obviously I know the spray paint won’t fair well over the long term and cerakote is the way to go, but I kind of wanted to see if I could figure out the color match and then later on down the line I’ll get it cerakoted.

The Process:

Step 1 - I first hit the rail covers with the Dupli-Color Wheel Coating Matte Bronze which produces more of goldish, light colored bronze.

Step 2 - I sprayed them with a light, light coat from about 18” of the Rust-Oleum Metallic Bronze.

Step 3 - Same process as Step 2 for the Rust-Oleum Oil Rubbed Bronze.

Step 4 - I then hit it them one more time at around the 18” distance with a light coat of the Dupli-Color Wheel Paint.

After feeling like I nailed down the color and painting process, I have a couple different lowers that I debated on throwing it on and finally after getting my barrel and AGB mounted, I settled on my DD lower.

Hit it with spray over the weekend to try and see if I could come up with a match. I think it came out looking fairly decent and I’m still contemplating a light matter clear to reduce some of the sheen that it throws off and bring out a little of the brown/golden color and less of copper in the bronzes.

Other than that I think the base coat is about as close I can get. But also I like the difference in shades as that’s consistent with what Geissele does. Once I have the LPK and buffer installed, I’ll post a final update with pics.

Let me know what you think. 🤙

Decided to Paint my XM177 Clone Upper

Used a variety of browns and sand/FDE’s to go along with using 2 different mesh laundry bags and some wild grass for shadowing. Also lightly dusted it with an olive drab. Think it came out decent enough.

Attempt to Match Geissele DDC

So I recently couldn’t help myself and decided that I needed a new upper and handguard after seeing the blemula sale on PA. So I took advantage of the sale and picked up a DDC tabbed upper and DDC 11.5” tabbed handguard to go along with a Geissele 12.5” CHF barrel and Superlative Arms AGB.

Obviously now after that purchase, I need another lower. But, since I live in an AR no-no state, the chances of getting a Geissele DDC lower are about as good as seeing a unicorn. So I decided I would go down the rabbit hole and chase trying to spray a lower I have to match DDC.

Pictures attached are what I ended up with. The lighting in the photos is natural outside daylight with a strong haze due to the wildfires in Canada and I also took some on my workbench in my garage with overhead LED shop lighting which is why you see a drastic color shift.

Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with how they came out. I think there is credence to the fact that the rails are not a 100% true match to the Geissele DDC. To me, this actually gives the color a little more credibility since DDC anodizing process claims that DDC never really matches from one piece to the next.

Let me know what you think. 🤙
