Any Ski Area in California that will not be insane over the holidays?

I almost always avoid this time of year but due to family circumstances, this is one of the few times of the ski season where I will be able to get away from work in order to ski. I did not renew the Ikon Pass this season, just bought the quad pack at Mammoth, which has no blackouts and I can refill if needed. Was looking at either June Mountain or Sierra at Tahoe. Curious what anyone else thinks.

Best Ski Area Besides Taos?

My family lives in Santa Fe and we typically visit them for the holidays. I usually go to Taos because I've bought the Ikon pass the past few years and it's included. However, I did not buy the pass this year because I am about to have my first child in September, although still may purchase a four day session pass as I live in Los Angeles and may do a weekend trip to Mammoth.

I have been to Ski Santa Fe and really enjoyed it but I have read it could be very crowded around the holidays. Curious is anyone else has been to any other NM mountain and if so, which one would they recommend for someone doing a day trip or one day overnight from Santa Fe.

Thank you!

Substack & Crooked Talent

So I understand that Alex, Ben and Dan want to expand their influence but it is really annoying that they have their own separate Substack accounts while Crooked is asking us to become a subscriber, and one way is Substack. I am not a Friend of the Pod subscriber and one reason why is because on Substack, there is only one additional newsletter that is included and its once a week. But I am a subscriber to Message Box because I find value in it. I am free subscriber to Alex and Ben's Substacks, although I do not think Ben has a paid option. But it would be ideal if they just wrote under Crooked's Substack and if they were all included within the Friends of the Pod subscription. Just wanted to send a quick rant.

PSA & Graham Platner

This could totally be a function of being on Bluesky but there are a lot of people there that blame PSA for the rise of Graham Platner. I know they interviewed him, and praised him a bit on Twitter, but either I am misremembering how much they actually vouched for him or they are being blamed unfairly. Which is it?

TSA Pre-Check Not Showing Up on Boarding Pass

For the third time this year, when I check-in my myself and my wife, her TSA Pre-Check is not showing up on her boarding pass. It's easy to fix, just have to call/chat with Delta. Just very odd it keeps happening even though it is clearly there and correct within her profile on my frequent companion section.

Anyone else experience this?

Has Anyone Used Ship Skis or a Similar Offering?

Having my first kid in September and will likely not be to fit all the baby stuff, alone with luggage, dog and ski gear. So just curious if Ship Skis or something similar is a good alternative.

Better top floor/rooftop bar? Alle Lounge or Skyfall Lounge?

Going to Vegas this weekend and my buddy loves top floors/rooftop bars and we want to visit one. We are staying at the W at Mandalay Bay so obviously Skyfall would be more convenient but we are having dinner one night at The Wynn, which is not far from Alle at Resorts World.

Curious to get your thoughts.

What time can road work start?

Road construction started at 6am on Sunset this past Saturday. Is that allowed? I looked online and said that it should not start till 8am but not sure if there was an exception given the fires.

What A Day Moving To The Afternoon

So with WAD moving to the afternoon, what is happening to the newsletter? Are they going to send it out with the pod/YT video, will be transition to a AM newsletter or is it going away?

What A Day Moving to afternoons on 6/8

I like the idea of this being an afternoon pod if it is going to be recorded the day before. Curious though if that means the newsletter is also changing.

So my pregnant wife and I are thinking about doing a little getaway for the holiday weekend and want to take our dog to either a river or a lake. She loves water but the ocean is a little too overwhelming. We are just unsure where to go. We go a lot to Mammoth but think that may be a little too far, especially if we are not skiing. Should we just go to Big Bear or is there somewhere else anyone would recommend?

My wife and I booked an all exclusive Cabo trip in early July for our babymoon. I got an email last night that for the same dates, we could stay the at an all-inclusive adults only Playa Del Carmen for about $1,200 less for the same dates. Changing the flight would result in about a $250 total increase but given that we would be saving on the room, still about $1K less.

We have been to Cancun/Playa Del Carmen together but she has never been to Cabo and I have not been since college. We would be leaving from LAX so the flight to Cancun would be 2.5 hours longer, which when you are pregnant, can be a big deal.

We are going back and forth on what to do and would love some other opinions.

Thanks!
