Ugh. I’d seen so many posts of other sellers experiencing this, and had counted myself lucky that I hadn’t. Well.. it finally happened today. Someone bought a themed cookbook I had on my shop for $6 at around 5AM; it’s Sunday, so I obviously can’t ship it out until tomorrow. All is fine.. but then I get a message at 10PM saying that they need the book by the 22nd for an “event” (so in less than 6 days), and that they wanted to make sure I would ship it tomorrow as fast as I could. I messaged them back nicely saying that I was planning on shipping the book out tomorrow (because the post office isn’t open on Sundays) but that I can’t assure them that the book will be to them by the 22nd. USPS is having delays / issues due to the severe storms happening in the Midwest (where I am) so I can’t say for certain that the book would get to them before the 22nd (I order stuff from two states away and it takes a week 🥲 So I don’t have the most hope that it would get to them quickly).
I was nice about it but irl I was just thinking “Why on earth would you wait until 6 days before an event to order something on Depop?” ; yes, I ship things quickly (I have never taken more than two business days to ship, I usually take less than 24 hours) but Depop gives sellers a pretty large amount of time to ship. I’m not required to ship stuff out within a day. Depop isn’t Amazon; sellers don’t have warehouses and connections to mailing companies, so we can get stuff to someone super quickly. If you need something by a certain date (and that date is soon).. Don’t order it from Depop? Idk. Maybe I’m a jerk.
I told them that I would cancel the order if they’d want, because I can’t confirm that the book would get to them “on time”, and they haven’t responded yet. I wouldn’t have offered that at all, but I really don’t the book to arrive to them after the date and for them to damage it to try and get a refund 🥲 It’s just frustrating.
Going to order the cotton candy one tonight ; I meant to get one cotton candy pack + one of these ones, but accidentally grabbed two of these ones instead. 😅 Drove over an hour home then realized my “mistake” lol. Eh; I’ll order the cotton candy one online, there’s no such thing as having too many Alani in the house.

I had to get one of my molars extracted yesterday (Friday) due to it being at an “unrecoverable” level of decayed; it was causing me a lot of pain, and was only getting worse as time went on. I had the extraction yesterday. The entire procedure took a little over an hour, because my tooth just didn’t want to get out of my mouth 😅 I had to get more anesthetic injected a few times throughout, and the dentist had to drill (?) my tooth into pieces to break off (and then pull out). She had to use the pliers (is that what they’re called?) 20+ times and break my tooth into bits before it finally came out.
Thankfully, I haven’t been in a lot of pain since the procedure; the first 8 hours afterwards were.. rough. But today the most pain I’ve felt, I would rate a 1/10. Taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen on a schedule, and it’s definitely helping. I can’t talk worth a darn, and it’s uncomfortable as heck to eat and to.. live without the tooth I’ve had for so long, but I’m not in a lot of pain.
Anyways. The question I had is.. the extraction-site was completely dark-red at first (as seen in the third photo). But today, its started turning a white color around its edges? It’s not hurting more, but I’m confused as to if this is normal?
I’ve been doing salt-water rinses after all food since I hit the 24 hour mark, and I’m only eating puréed / mashed / soft foods currently. Im brushing and flossing my teeth but avoiding that spot, of course. I feel like I’m doing everything correctly, but the way it’s looking is just worrying me a bit. Is the way it looks currently normal? What can I expect in the following days if it is?
Also.. when can I start incorporating less soft foods?
My dentist was so nice but she didn’t give me much information about this. The post-op pamphlet they gave me didn’t have much either.
Okay, so:
1- I will not be sedated for the procedure; I’ll be given a numbing agent, and will be awake the whole time. Is that common, to be awake for something like that? What is it going to be like, being awake while getting a molar taken out?
2- What is the healing process like? Will I have to take strong pain-killers after the procedure, or will Tylenol + Ibuprofen be okay? Asking because I’m currently nursing my toddler, and I don’t believe there’s many RX pain-killers that are okay to take whilst nursing.
3- How long does a tooth extraction usually take? What is the process going to be like (like, what steps are taken in what order?)
4- Is there anything y’all would recommend for me to do before or after the procedure?
I’m a bit nervous about the whole thing; I avoided going to the dentist for a while, because I had two Hyperemesis pregnancies and felt a lot of shame about how bad my dental health became due to them. I was also worried about any possible medications I’d be given at the dentist for the first year of my babies life, so I avoided going. Now I have so many cavities it isn’t even funny, and I have to have one of my teeth pulled. I know it has to be done, this tooth has been causing an insane amount of pain for me recently (it’s had issues for a while, but has now gotten to the point that it hurts so much so often). I’m just nervous about the whole thing. Any advice / answers would be appreciated.
I’m just curious. I’ve been starting to paint again after nearly five years of not, and I feel like a lot of the art subs aren’t really the place for me to post 😅 So I’m wondering if there are any subs based around people starting to make art again, after a period of not making any.
Hi; I had two HG pregnancies within a three year period (I got pregnant with my first in May of 2022, and my second in June of 2024). My first pregnancy was much easier than my second; with my first, there were moments of relief. I suffered the first trimester, then felt relief for the second, before it made a comeback in the third. With my second, it was never-ending. From 6 weeks till birth at 40+1 I was suffering. I was on a cocktail of anti-nausea meds, but still threw up 20+ times per day. There were multiple times I threw up over 50x.. There were so many times I couldn’t keep anything down for days on end (my “record” was 9 days), and my medical team was not helpful. I was put inpatient so many times, and it never got better. I was told I had a “life threatening” case multiple times, I lost so much weight and got so malnourished I was passing out multiple times a day every day.
My second is 16 months old now. My first is almost 3 1/2.
I’m saying all of this to say.. I know I shouldn’t ever risk getting pregnant again. I was told another HG pregnancy had a substantial risk of killing me, or leaving me permanently disabled in some way. I can’t risk that, I can’t risk my babies not having their mother. I understand why I can’t have more.
But it hurts. It hurts so much. Every time I pass by the L&D ward in my local hospital (or even go to the hospital in general) I cry a bit. Every month that goes by, where I get my period again, I get sad. We had a pregnancy scare this month that turned out to be nothing.. and I know it’s a good thing I’m not, but I’m still finding myself so upset about it.
I’ve been told I should get sterilized, and I know I should. I can’t go through another HG pregnancy, it was by far the worst time of my life (both physically and mentally).. But it sucks. It sucks I can’t have more babies. I always wanted a big family and now I’m left mourning the fact I can’t have one.
:( Just posting this because I’m sure other people here have felt this same way. It’s such an odd emotion. Knowing that you can’t have another HG pregnancy, knowing that you never want to go through what you did again.. but being upset that you won’t be having more babies. Looking at your youngest, seeing how big they’ve gotten, and being upset that you’ll never have a tiny baby ever again.
Recipe for the date bars is from B. Dylan Hollis’ cookbook “Baking Yesteryear” ; the cookie recipe is from “Well Made By Kiley” , the recipe is titled “Brown Butter Banana Oatmeal Cookies”
I’ve made that cookie recipe twice now and I love them so much! Yet somehow.. the date bars are even better. I just made those a few hours ago, cut them up now and tried them and.. omg. I’m in date heaven.
Whoever is behind the AG social media accounts deserves a raise. The recent videos they’ve been putting out have been so funny omg
Hi; I have a three year old who was diagnosed with autism fairly recently. He’s almost completely nonverbal, saying 1-2 words per day maximum (usually saying none). He’s been in speech therapy for over a year now, but hasn’t had much progress. He’s such a smart kid for his age; he knows basic math (addition and subtraction), he can read and write.. His teachers (and his speech therapist) have said that he’s “very intelligent for his age”; he just doesn’t speak.
He was born in January of 2023, and he’s still in diapers. He’s grown out of every size of diapers, so we’re onto pull-ups now.. But he’s nearly too big for the 4T/5T pull-ups at this point. I’m realizing that potty training is probably something we need to start soon, but I have no clue how to even start it with him. He can’t tell us when he needs to go; he has a button on his AAC app, but he doesn’t ever use it. He’s also terrified of the toilet flushing for some reason, if he hears it he gets very close to having a “meltdown” and he runs away.
I’m just completely lost on what I should do. Do I wait until I feel like he’s more ready? If so, what do I have him wear when he’s outgrown pull-ups? If I start potty training him.. How the heck do I even do it when he can’t communicate that he needs to go?
Any advice would be appreciated. I asked my own father how he potty trained me (because I was an autistic child myself that was a bit behind speech-wise) and he said he doesn’t remember how he did it 😅
I know some people on here don’t have TikTok (or watch FB reels) so I wanted to share this here! I saw this last night and it made me laugh a bit. I love it!
“Pakistani Pitted Dates” I bought from a Mennonite-ran store near me. I asked someone stocking the shelves what kind they would be, and he said he didn’t know. I usually use Medjool dates in recipes, but these were almost half the price so I figured I could buy them and see how they are. I just need to know what kind of date they really are, so I can find recipes specific to them.
Not necessarily needing advice, mostly just venting.
My son (3 years old) is autistic, and is mostly nonverbal. He’s been in speech therapy for around a year, and around a month ago he was put into preschool. Yes, it’s super late into the year to be starting preschool 😅 But his speech therapist, as well as the AEA in our area, thought putting him into school would be a good idea (because being around other kids could help him start to talk more). It’s been going good so far! He’s starting to say more words (he still isn’t speaking often, but he’s speaking more than he was before) and he seems to like school. The school year ends this week, then he’ll be back into preschool at the end of the summer. He’ll be doing a full school year of preschool, then another full school year of it in 2027.
I’m making this post because last week, during the schools “spirit week”, they posted a video of my sons classroom; the video was around a minute long, and was a montage of the kids wearing paper hats and being silly. I watched it looking for him, and he just.. wasn’t there. He wasn’t in the background, he just wasn’t there. Then, the same day that video got released, they sent home photos of the class all together in front of the school.. and my son was off to the side, away from the group, by himself.
Both of those things together upset me a bit. But I’ve been trying to rationalize it in my head. Maybe they didn’t want a kid that couldn’t speak in the video (because the other kids were?)… But that reasoning is upsetting to me too, because him being nonverbal shouldn’t mean he’s excluded from stuff like that. He’s also in a “special needs” classroom, and isn’t the only child who struggles with speech.. So I really don’t know. That photo though, I can’t think of a reason for it.
I haven’t said anything. Im giving the benefit of the doubt at the moment. But it’s upsetting. It’s stressing me out more after seeing a situation on the news yesterday, where a mom put a camera into her nonverbal child’s hair and caught his teachers mistreating him.. Now I’m stressing out about the possibility that my son isn’t being treated well. He loves going to school, he gets so excited when we head there.. So I’m trying my hardest to believe that everything is okay. I’m just so worried he’s being treated badly :( And that, if he is, he can’t verbalize it to us.
I haven’t shipped it out yet. I got a regular cardboard box to ship the item (a hat) out.. Weighed it after packing everything up, and it was over 13oz 😭 Now I don’t know what to do! Obviously I can’t ship it out weighing more than the max that the label says. My partner told me to ship it out in a vanilla wafers box covered in brown paper (to make it look like it’s not a snack box) 😅 Which I tested, and it does stay below 12oz that way. Do I just do that? Or is there something else I should try? I’m nervous that the buyer would be off put by that kind of packaging 😅
Exactly what the title says. My grandmother has been trying out online dating, and met someone claiming to be from a couple of states away. To “prove to each other that they’re both real people” she sent images of her drivers license and passport to the person. We’ve already explained to her why that was a bad decision, and she’s seeming to understand at least somewhat at this point.
We found out about this today after her Facebook account was hacked; she sent in her authenticating info to FB and is waiting to be let back into her account, but while we were trying to help her we saw messages the man was sending her. My father says he was basically spamming her messages, saying he cares about her and such. Obviously.. we think he hacked her account. But honestly the FB account is the least of our worries. A random person online having clear images of both her license and her passport is scary, and we’re not sure of all of the steps we should be taking. She has LifeLock, thankfully, but that won’t protect her from every possible issue that could come from this.
Any advice on next steps would be greatly appreciated.
