Do you notice a big difference between Drawing Tablets and normal tablets?

Hello! Popping in with a quick question : do you feel a big difference between a drawing tablet (\*\*with a built-in screen), and a tablet (IPad, Samsung etc.) when producing art? I'm looking to invest in my digital art and I'm not sure which to choose

I know that the drawing tablet is professionally created to be more responsive to pressure and support larger canvases, but for those that post on social media and do commissions, do you have advice? I see a lot of people use normal tablets and it has the advantage of being used for other things too..

IWTL How to think Abstractly

I came to realise that I find that the most interesting and intelligent people, books, theoreticians etc. are all people that can think abstractly and have fluid intelligence. For example there's this architect-philospher I follow and deeply admire, his name is Aaron Vartiainen and he presents insights in such a way where makes connections between seemingly unrelated things in order to come to a revelation

Where do I start? Aside from collecting as much knowledge as you can on a variety of topics, what does someone with strong abstract thinking do differently to arrive to such strong cognitive capacity?

How do I fix a cluster of dopamine-related issues?

I (21f) feel so brainrotted. I don't even feel my age, I feel like I've regressed to the mental age of a teenager. As the years passed, I've upped my dopamine addiction while pushing my limits to the max to fix the negative consequences.

For example, in the past if I'd postpone studying for a week or two before the exam, now it's a day before. Finishing deadlines, cleaning or other responsibilities, they're all pushed to the very last second. I use social media for longer to the point I have no hobbies, don't read or watch movies. But it also has important things for finding career opportunities and keeping in touch with my currently ldr partner and friendships since I'm abroad.

I used to be really good at saving money or telling myself I don't need something (especially cravings), but now I've lost any sort of discipline and just buy on craving. I actively stay away from things like smoking because I know that I'm so prone to vices that I'd ruin myself.

T/w disordered eating, but for example>! I used to have binge eating cycles and then I'd allow myself 3 months to lose what I had gained, but now as more time passed, the bigger and more frequent the binges and the shorter the diet to lose it to like a month.!<

I feel like all of these are related dopamine and just keep getting more and more extreme. What's the best approach? I just feel so disappointed for myself. My life is cycles of really good, and really bad.

I need to delete social media but I need it professionally and for my friendships. What do I do?

I (21F) have a serious dopamine addiction. I feel mentally stunnted to the point I feel 17, not 21. I have felt myself quite literally brain rot over the past few years and its gotten worse and worse, almost like induced ADHD. I always struggled with disorganisation but social media apps like Instagram Reels have become a pacifier that has shortened my attention span, capacity to retain info, reach deadlines and just do anything besides doomscrolling.

The issue is that I curated my feed to also offer professional ppportunities (like ads/calls for competitions, job postings, career advice etc.) that I don't find on sites like Linkedin. The issue is that my dopamine receptors are so fried I just bookmark them and never apply. I also use it as a primary communication for my LDR and friendships. And the truth is there's a lot of inspiring stuff there (art, workouts, outfits) that would actually be useful if I wasn't so fried.

What do I do? The easiest thing would just be to delete it, but I'm scared I'll miss out on opportunities, or just abuse the web version or just resort to scrolling on Youtube shorts or something else.

Fragrances similar to Dove soap / Rituals / Spa scents?

Hello! I'm someone that's pretty sensitive to scents, they easily make me nauseous so I don't know what to do. I love a lot of the rituals and Dove scents since they remind me so much of the type of fragrance you encounter at a spa. I really love that they're light but smell luxurious (so they're felt, but don't cause headaches, not too powdery or strong). I avoid anything synthetic, too floral, clean or citrusy.

I enjoy shower gel scents that are light but creamy and balanced, like tonka, argan, honey etc.

I'd love a "no makeup makeup" version for perfumes, like I just stepped out of the shower but that lasts longer than that :(. Please help!! I'd be so grateful!! Budget-wise, I'm a uni student in the EU so ideally under 150 euros, but willing to spend if it's a match made in heaven.

The only perfumes I've tolerated in my life lol:

  • Rituals Jing (lotus and jujube)
  • Rituals Sakura
  • Sol de Janeiro 62

I can't greyrock, what now?

Unfortunately I'm back home for the summer in the middle of nowhere and my nfather is impossible to deal with. Apart from abusive language he uses to make me feel like a worthless pos, he has an extremely loud, deep and aggressive voice that makes me want to d!e. I've tried standing up for myself in the past, but he gets in a rage, overriding my own voice by screaming louder, saying I'm making excuses and always have a reason for everything.

Then I tried greyrocking. He speaks to me the same (vicious insults, shouting voice), but just goes ON AND ON AND ON and talks forever and I try disassociating but I still hear everything he says and it makes me sick. If i try to physically leave and distance myself he starts following me and mocking me, yelling that all I do is hide from the truth and distance myself. Then he finds bullshit reasons to follow me into a room to further aggravate me. If I lock the door he gets into a rage AGAIN and confiscates the key.

I currently depend on him for educational funding and I'm working hard to become financially independent but it's hard to do that part-time in my country.

Tl;dr: Wtf do I do, how do I start coping with a man that has verbally abused me to the point that I feel worthless, but can't win against? I can't greyrock or walk away because he sees it as invitation to go on screaming, but if I fight him it's an equal outcome. I would love coping mechanisms. I regress everytime I'm back.

Retinoid recs for hyperpigmentation marks?

Hello! I have a quick question. I've been dealing with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation marks (basically hyperpigmentation/flat scars) on my cheeks, and closed comedones. I don't have (cystic) acne, but this past year I've been dealing with any inflammation just turning red and scarring brown, and it takes months to fade, so they've been adding up. I posted a pic in this sub on another post.

I was wondering if anyone could help me choose between Celimax retinal and CeraVe, or other products like the purito or mizon retinol etc. Or if OTC is useless/too mild against hyperpigmentation and I should get a prescription for adapalene or tret. I want to start a retinoid since I've heard it helps a lot with what I'm going through. I heard mixed opinions on OTC retinoids, some people saying it's too weak and "just there". Any help or other recs would be appreciated. Thank you!

[Routine Help] How do I begin with hyperpigmentation that won't fade?

In the past 3-4 months I've gotten an insane amount of post-inflamatory hyperpigmentation marks on my cheeks that won't fade away. PIH hasn't been and issue for mfe until the past year.

They've been increasing and increasing and it looks worse in real life. I feel defeated. They're not acne scars (indented) and it's not pustule or hormonal acne. They're usually small comedones or small blackheads/bumps that either try to pop (it's a tick), or simply just slight inflammation that don't disappear and fades into red or brown scars.

They look raised because i kept messing with them and trying to pop before taking the photo. I know that the first step is to just stop touching them in the first place, but even if i get pimples from stress, they just automatically turn into hyperpigmentation.

Tl;dr: Please help me figure out what I need to do to fade them. It's never been this bad and I'm thinking of going to a derm. Besides sunscreen, should I start a mild retinol? I was thinking of Cerave resurfacing. I have an azalaeic cream and a stable vit c serum but they don't seem to be doing much. How long before I can expect results?

[Product Request] Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation that won't fade?

Every single time I have any sort of inflammation this past year (whether it's a pimple, whitehead, blackhead, closed com. etc), it just turns into a PIH that will not fade away. Theyre not pustule or puss filled though. Whether I touch it or not, it just automatically scars in a day or two and I look like I have acne even though there are no active pimples and it just keeps getting worse. It's an issue I've only been having this past year, I used to never scar. As you can see I also have sebaceous filaments and closed comedones.

Does anyone know what to do to both stop this from happening + fix it faster? I'm really frustrated. It's true I haven't been consistent with skincare, but its an issue even when I do. I use a stable derivative vitamin c serum, and an azaleic acid lotion (Revox) and The Ordinary AHA once a week, alongside my cleanser Cosrx Morning cleanser. I tryyyy to use sunscreen.

Any routine, tried and true products, or advice is welcomed please. Thank you!

What are you supposed to do with an IR Bachelors degree?

I'm an EU student that just graduated uni with a degree in IR and i feel so completely lost. I feel like its ultimately such a general degree that its worthless, and now I'm thinking about masters and what to do and it feels like the entry point is so difficult for anything that is more specialised. I'm worried about the competition for public jobs, and corporate jobs alike. Think tanks in my country aren't many and I doubt they have much funding, and consultancies are mostly fintech.

I genuinely don't understand what people do with IR, since everyone that has a specialised degree in economics or environmental studies etc, and can do what we do if they just have a masters in IR. The reason why I didnt quit was because I still had hope in my second year, and by the third I felt it was too late. No clue how to get my rhythm or hope back. I did try throughout uni, good grades, learned a third language, semester abroad, got an admin internship (i hated), did volunteering etc.

Tl;dr: what did you do with your IR bachelors degree, what about masters? Did you reprofile? Any advice would be appreciated!

Is urban planning meaningless without an architecture degree?

I finished a Bachelors degree in a semi-unrelated field and in the past year or so I've become extremely interested in urban design and urban planning and have thought seriously about pursuing it. However my father (who funds my education) is really against me pursuing it at a BA/masters level because he believes that its virtually irrelevant without having a full architecture degree, as opposed to an urbanism one (which is from a university of architecture) or a less specialised masters in urban planning. Whether it be for creating projects, hiring etc, "theyll always value an architect more".

Also, the issues of working with (incompetent/corrupt) town halls and government is another deterrent to U.P..

How much of this is true? It completely demoralised me and we had a huge fight about it. I ended up missing the application because if it.

Becoming an urban planner in the UK - experiences and advice?

It'd mean a lot if someone could share their experience and knowledge.

I guess one of the first hurdles is the fact that I'm not British, but I genuinely love the way urban planning is thought out in the UK, and would love to be able to work there. From what I know, there isnt a "set path" in the UK to work as a planner. Unlike in other countries (EU) where you pretty much have to do a BA in architecture or urbanism, and then an MA, the UK focuses more on RTPI accreditation.

Tl;dr: How viable is it to become a town planner in the UK as someone that isn't from the UK, nor has a BA in architecture? I'm interested in pursuing a non-UK MA in urban planning, but I'm worried its worthless without an architecture background.
