So there's a MASSIVE classic car show going on in the city I'm in right now so that means that the roads look like someone opened a time warp to the 70s. Hundreds of classic cars mixed in with the modern cars going down the highway; quite a sight to see.

I was walking my bike along one of the main roads (had a flat tire) when one of the older jeeps driving by started to make bad noises and rapidly loose speed. The driver leans out and screams at me "brother- help! I'll give you $10 to push me!" He didn't need to offer to pay me; I'd have been happy to help. I dropped my bike and ran into the road and summoned all the retard strength I have in me to push that jeep. Just as I put my hands on the back bumper the engine fully dies. It's all me. I push him probably 200 feet before we get to the first possible turn-off. I get him off the highway so he can call a tow truck. He gives me $10 and I go on my way.

Goddamn I earned this red bull.

Completely random encounter. I was waiting at a cross wall with my bike when a dude pushing a shopping cart rolled up next to me. It was a dude in his late 50s early 60s; suspiciously clean for being a cart-pusher.

"Hello brother. Do you want a sandwich?" I look in his cart to see that he has all the fixings for a turkey sandwich in a tiny foam cooler.

"Hell yeah brother, you want a beer?" I had just scavenged a couple of bottles of fat tire

So we stand at the light for a minute talking and eating turkey sandwiches and he reveals to me that he has a website and a proper 501 charity for helping the homeless. He also revealed to me that him and a half dozen others live in a homeless camp just outside of town that is set up on private property with the blessing of the owners so the county can't come and chase them out. Told me they're having steak tonight and they'd be happy to share.

I think I found my people.

So I have this bad habit of not turning my laptop off at night. I just shut the lid and it puts itself to sleep. I didn't leave any programs running last night when I shut it off like usual.

This morning, the display was off, the LED on the case was off, but the fan was running and the laptop was HOT to the touch. Held the power button to shut it down and let it cool off.

The first time I tried to turn it on, it blue screened on startup and gave me a memory error. On the second attempt at startup, I got the recovery screen and a warning that a critical startup file was corrupted. On the third attempt it started without issue.

The fact that it's running without issue has me scratching my head. Why would it give two different errors on the first two attempts at startup, then work just fine after the third? Did I damage but not completely destroy a critical component somewhere? I only paid $20 for this laptop so its not a huge loss if it cooked itself.

So I'm sort of homeless and found this really cool spot to hang out that is an abandoned dumpster enclosure behind an old equally abandoned shopping complex. There's a pair of ravens that hang out on the light pole above the enclosure and usually they're pretty quiet but today they were SCREAMING at each other and I politely asked them "hey guys, could you chill?" And they both looked at me and their CAW CAW CAWs turned into gentle caws, like I was a father reminding two kids to use their inside voices lol.

So I've been hanging out in the area for a couple of weeks. I had a place to stay indoors but that just came to an end.

I found a dumpster enclosure next to an abandoned fast food restaurant on the edge of a busy shopping center. The dumpster shack next to it is unlocked and has a working electric outlet in it! I've been staying here for 3 days now and not a single soul has come to check on the restaurant. Thinking of putting my own lock on the enclosure. I like the privacy and the electricity. What else does a man need to survive? There's a little bakery/deli in the shopping center I dumpster dive for food to survive. As long as I don't draw attention to myself or make a mess I imagine no one will fuck with me quietly sitting on my laptop in the dumpster enclosure. I drug a wooden stool in here yesturday that I found in a ditch so I've got something to sit on. Other than that it's just a 300sqft enclosed concrete pad with a single working electrical outlet.
