Sneaker recommendations

I’m terrible about styling shoes with dresses and skirts and always just opt for strap sandals. We have a UK trip coming up at the end of July and with the heat waves I plan to wear mostly midi length skirts and dresses. But we are walking a lot.

What is a good, stylish sneaker? My go to sneakers are Ryka and have bold colors (running errands, gym) or Vans (paired with jeans).

Time to frog

These socks have been a journey. I started out using 9in circs and did the ribbing and a few leg rows. Swapped and did the same on the 2nd. Decided to try TAAT and swapped to a long cable needle for that (same brand and size).

Decided I hated TAAT ball juggling and took one sock off and put it on flexible DPNs. I actually really like that method! But I noticed after a few inches that my tension was waaaaay off after the swap to the flexis. They measure the same as my original needles per my needle sizer, but obviously the results are not the same.

Oh well. Time to frog! And that’s ok because I wasn’t really liking how they were turning out anyway.

Pattern is Hermione’s Everyday Sock. A fun pattern but the texture gets lost in the variegated yarn I picked.

Dinner downtown

It’s been a few years since we’ve done a nice dinner date downtown. Where is the place to go for good food these days? Is Domaine South still good? We’ve been to purveyor several times so not looking to go there.

Plan is drinks at Catacomb after dinner so would be nice to be in walking distance.

I know everyone is going to say 88 Buffet, but that’s just too fancy for us.

People vs Project Management

Not mom related, just work. I'm at a point in my career where I need to start thinking about next steps: People manager or project manager. I have full support from my leadership to go either way. I'm currently a team lead (no authority over the team, I'm just the touch point/SME/workload person).

Those of you who are people managers, is it worth it? Do you wish you had stayed an individual contributor?

Butterwort leaves white and soft

I’ve had this little guy inside by a NE window that gets lots of morning light but decided to let it go outside today. After a few hours I went to bring it back in and found that some of the leaves were now white and very squishy. Is it temperature/light shock?

Second picture is how it was a couple days ago when I first noticed the flower starting. It is in the same soil it came from the plant shop in and I keep it and its sundew friend in an in or so of rain water with a few mosquito granules in.

Chew Toy Suggestions

Ok, I need to know the best, most durable chewing things. My almost 9 yo has jaws of steel and will go through anything we’ve given her to chew on. Shes currently destroying an ARK textured chewy that was supposedly for rough chewers. It’s lasted a few weeks.

I’m about ready to buy the poor girl a Kong.

When to repot VSOH?

I got this SOH a few months ago as a 2in nursery pot and put it in a similar sized self watering/bottom watering pot. It has been very happy!

Question is when should I repot it? Can I size it up now to a 4in or so and prop some of the tails? Or should I just leave it alone?

Trouble shooting yellow leaves

I started this zebrina back in Sept and it’s been my office plant since then. Been doing great. The past 2 weeks or so some of the leaves have turned yellow. Is this due to age or something being off?

I’ve brought it home for the weekend to clean it up and put it in a new pot, so any changes or pruning I can do?

I’m wondering if there is a technique for winding yarn into a skein shape instead of a cake or ball? The long thin log shape is what I’m referring to (like wha red heart comes in)

I have a yarn winder for caking and know how to make a ball by hand. Asking because I was thinking a long narrow shape would fit in some of my project bags (especially ones I like for socks) better than plump cakes and balls.
