Is divorce my only way out of financial ruin?

I've been together with my wife for over 20 years, married 17. We have 1 teenager. Three months ago she had a mental breakdown and started drinking again. She was in ER three times and now in 3rd rehab.

I haven't spoken to her in over a week and do not miss her. It's been hard being a single parent but not having her in the house has been great because daily life has been calm and predictable.

I'm in a state that requires spousal support and I'm on a hook for all her medical bills. She also has over 100k in student loans that were postponed for a year. The only way out of this situation that I see is divorce at this point. I've been postponing thinking about it but it's been on my mind a lot lately.

Wife developed severe anxiety

My wife is in mid 40s and had depression and anxiety since around 20 years old. She has been on prozac and klonopin. Then stopped klonopin. She started a new job and got anxiety and couldn't sleep. They increased prozac dosage to 20mg and that made things worse. She started taking klonopin again but that didn't help. Then went to clinic and they gave her Ativan and had a panic attack.

It's been two months now without any change. She pretty much shaking from anxiety. She's been living with her parents and comes home once a week. She did testing for perimenopause but the tests were negative. The doctor gave her hormone pills just to rule them out but so far she hasn't taken them. Another doctor also gave her Lexapro to try but she hasn't started it either. She had bloodwork with endocrinologist yesterday and waiting for results. I reached out to neurologist but she said she doesn’t handle cases like that and it's better to work with psychiatrist instead. Any other recommendations of what to try and which type of doctors to see?

School Backpack with deep front pocket

I'm looking for a school backpack for a teenager which has a deep front pocket to put a lunch bag in and big pocket to fit the books.

The backpack that was used last year was LL Bean Deluxe Book Pack 37L but it's not cool enough for this year and I'm trying to find something "cooler" now. I tried a bunch of bags at REI but most had small front pockets.

My behavior towards my wife is making her symptoms worse

I've been married for 17 years and have 1 child together. I met my wife in college and experience her drinking episodes. In addition to drinking she has chronic depression and anxiety. Plus is a compulsive shopaholic.

She had drinking under control for many years and was in AA. But due to her depression we started drifting apart since she did not have desire for intimacy. She also got really into alternative medicine. Spending well beyond her means. That combined with high student loan payments was causing a lot of fights at the house and I starting snapping at her a lot.

Recently after starting a full time job her anxiety got worse. At first she switched to part time but that didn't help. She couldn't stop anxiety and had lack of sleep and decided to go to the bar instead as a solution. I got a call from her friend and she was drunk while on anxiety meds, then she went to ER. Then she went to her parents house, left and went to an empty friends house, got drunk again on meds. I had to pick her up with our son in the car, he saw her drunk and also saw her stumbling in the house and blacking out in the car.

I drove her to ER while she was blacking out in the car while the grandparents watched my son. Then she went to a rehab, then ER again and finally back to her parents house. She's been there for 2 months now.

On one hand I feel bad for her because she's having anxiety symptoms for unknown reasons, perimenopause is one of the potential suspecs, but the whole drinking ordeal left me numb. I felt nothing for her for weeks. I went about my business and keep things running at home and just let her be.

Then she wanted to meet up and I told her I didn't want to be around her and to instead meet up with our child. This triggered her symptoms again, she went off on me and mentioned suicidal thoughts. This made me feel guilty and I started communicating with her more and being more responsive.

I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm trying to help and feel bad with what's going on with her health but I don't think I can deal with such crazy life for much longer.

Wife Away for over a month

I’ve been married for 17 years and have 1 child. My wife had depression and anxiety since I met her. This led to dead bedroom over the years. Due to my son having health issues she also would spend ridiculous amounts of money on alternative medicine and maxed out her credit card. In addition she has over 100k in loans. The financial strain has been pretty rough.

She started a new job and had mental breakdown due to stress. She’s an alcoholic as well and started drinking again, then had few ER visits, followed by rehab and now has been at her parents for over a month trying to get her health back in order.

Before this happened we separated our bank accounts and I only keep a small amount for her to use in our shared account.

Being a single parent has been rough. I work from home so things have mostly been the same. It’s just having no time to myself that’s the problem.

I see her maybe once a week and talk for a bit every other day. Although I miss her help and remember the good times we had I do not miss other aspects of her craziness. I’m waiting for her mental health to get better to make a decision about divorce, although for me I’m pretty much ready to go. I just feel working stepping away from the usual life I’m used to.

Non stop anxiety after Proxac dosage increase

My wife is 45 and got a new job and started having lack of sleep and anxiety. Doctor increased prozac dosage. She would also take klonopin. Something triggered and her anxiety went overboard. She's coming off klonopin and on prozac but anxiety is not stopping and is pretty bad. She's now talking about going to some psychiatric clinic out of state. She looked into potential perimenapause but the hormone levels seem normal. Does anyone have any suggestions what to check? Should she try medicine switch maybe?

AC Barely Working at 90 degree weather

I have 2011 CRV. My usual mechanic topped off the fluid, I came back after a while and it didn’t seem to leak. He also cleaned the condenser coils. Cleaning helped a bit at lower temperatures but once it hits 85+ the ac can’t keep up. it’s mostly warm air. Does annyone have any other suggestions I can have the mechanic look at before I go to a more expensive place?

Don't know if I should wait or not

My and my wife are in mid 40s. Married for 17 years and we have one 13 yeard old. She was a stay at home mom and eventually transitioned to part time. Her spending has been out of control for alternative medicine and I separated our bank accounts. She's been on prozac and a new full time job triggered anxiety. During the last month it's been mayhem. Alcoholic behavior came back, multiple ER visits and a rehab. She's at her parents now and I'm thinking of filing for divorce. The problem is that I don't know if I should wait until she gets out of all of this and gets to normality and can hold a job or just do it now. She's pretty much out of the job, has tons of loans and maxed out credit card. I feel bad for her but I can't cope with her mental illness, spending addiction and drinking anymore.

Did anyone leave their mentally ill spouse?

We're in mid 40s. Together for 24 years, married for 17. We have one 13 year old child. My wife had depression and anxiety since I met to. She's been stay at home mom and then transition to part time. She got a full time job two months ago. After two weeks she couldn't handle it anymore. She developed anxiety over it and switched to part time. She kept on having anxiety and lack of sleep and ended up in ER. She also has a drinking problem and went back to drinking and ended up in ER again. She has been in a rehab for two weeks, was transferred to ER today again and was just admitted. This has been due to not being able to handle the anxiety and anti-depression meds.

In addition to that she's been a big spender on alternative medicine and supplements. She went behind my back to get a brain scan at Amen clinics which was $6000 even though I asked her not to do it. Her family was able to partially reverse the charges. She was staying over friends house and threw up red wine on a $3000 carpet which I have to pay cleaning for now. She has around $120k in student loans with $750/month payments.

The intimacy has been non existent for past few years. I'm asking myself if there's a point to even continue anymore. Being a single parent for last 2 weeks have been exhausting and I'm not sure if going through divorce is the right choice.

Those of you that divorced from mentally ill spouse what was the result?

[QUESTION] iPhone 11 worth fixing for parent?

I have an iPhone 11 that needs a screen replacement and a new battery. I looked at replacement parts and it will cost about $70 in parts without labor for refurbished screen, a decent battery and adhesive seal. I have a friend who can help me replace them for free but I would give him some money as well bringing total to over $100.

My friend looked around and found cheaper replacement parts for about $45. Should I go with better screen, a cheaper screen or try to find a newer iPhone 12 or 13 used model on eBay instead?
