Looking to get rid of spotify; one problem, how do I find new music?

Im looking to switch to an mp3 player instead of spotify, but I worry about growing fatigued of all the tracks I have on there, since I cant find new ones. A lot of the methods ive searched up for how to find new music when using one of these devices is kinda just “do it yourself,” which doesn’t really seem that fun

Just started episode 3, really confused about something

So, I’m on chapter 4 of episode 3, and I get that Battler is trying to argue that all the murders on Rokkenjima can be done by a human, but how does he explain things like the 7 sisters, the goats, and ronove?

No spoilers, please!

SIB Wonderful Everyday: Down The Rabbit-Hole

Previously enjoyed games: undertale, deltarune, slay the princess, mouthwashing, umineko, OFF, LISA

I know very little about this game, but from what I do know, it seems right up my alley. However, I’m hesitant on doing so because I’ve heard it deals with things like gore, rape, etc in extreme, extreme detail. I can definitely handle things like that! I am by no means sensitive, but people talk about it like it’s genuinely traumatizing and im not sure if they’re exaggerating or not and it worries me.

How can I add ryujinx canary to retrodeck so I can play tomodachi life?

I’ve been going at this for 2 hours and I’m starting to feel insane. I’ve edited both the rules and system XMLs what feels like 20 times and yet ryujinx won’t show up as an alternate emulator. Any help would be appreciated.

FULL GUIDE ON HOW TO SET UP SHIN GYAKUTEN TOUHOU/TOUHOU ATTORNEY/AYA ATTORNEY ON DECK!!

Shin Gyakuten Touhou is an old doujinshi Touhou fan-game released in 2009. It is a parody of the Ace Attorney series, using Touhou characters. You can download 5 of the games off one big file on Internet Archive, which I obviously won’t provide the link for obvious reasons, but… you’ll find it. This guide will assume that you’re using it, but even if you aren’t, it should still (hopefully) work.

So What’s Included In The File?

  • Shin Gyakuten Touhou
  • Shin Gyakuten Touhou 2
  • Shin Gyakuten Touhou 3
  • Shin Gyakuten Touhou Festival
  • Shin Gyakuten Touhou Extra And their respective english patches. NOTE: Shin Gyakuten Touhou Matsuri is also available, but it isn’t patched, so.

STEP 1: Adding It As A Non-Steam Game

Plus icon in the bottom of the screen -> add a non-steam game -> select the exes -> properties -> compatibility -> force the use of a specific steam compatibly tool -> whichever proton version you want.

Note: just as an aside, if you wanna customize your non-steam games, use https://www.steamgriddb.com. It doesn’t have Shin Gyakuten Touhou stuff, but it’s still a nice help!

STEP 2: Japanese Locales

Since Shin Gyakuten Touhou was made to run on Japanese Machines, so as with most old-school touhou fan-games, it only works with Japanese locales. You’ll see a lot of PC users tell you that you need to download a locale emulator, but, thankfully, with the power of a Steam Deck, we can just bypass all of that with a simple launch command.

env LANG="ja_JP.utf8" %command%

Or, if, for some reason, that doesn’t work:

WINEDEBUG=-all LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 %command%

STEP 3: THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE, RUN AS A JP GAME BEFORE YOU PATCH IT

This is the part that gave me a ton of trouble initially. I don’t know why it happens, but if you patch the game, and then run it, it just won’t work. But if you run the game, patch it, then run it again. It works.

I’m also not sure if changing the file names from JP to english does anything? I wouldn’t risk it though, when I tried doing that the game ended up blue-screening.

STEP 4: Patching

Go to the “english patches” folder, copy all of the patch files, and paste them into the folders for their respective games.

NOTE: DO NOT just put the entire patch folder into the game folder. This will also break it.

NOTE 2: The patch in the folder for the first game is incorrect, and you can find the correct one on Internet Archive aswell.

STEP 5: play the game

And there you have it! You can now play Shin Gyakuten Touhou, in English, on your steam deck. Hope you enjoy it!

If anyone has any questions, let me know!

Anyone else like the character design of pc-98 more then the windows era?

I don’t really know why, but personally, I like the PC-98 designs wayyy more then the windows designs. PC-98 reimu especially looks way better then windows reimu imo

Update on my last post

Played some more of the game with some of the wisdom you guys gave me in mind, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it isn’t really my thing.

I absolutely see the appeal, but it isn’t for me. Which sucks, because the art is genuinely gorgeous and checks all my boxes for something I would adore, a shame, really.

I can’t refund it either, which means its stuck gathering dust in my library for the next few years…

I’m not hating on the game or anything, just to be clear. Enjoy what you enjoy! I recognize that even if I don’t like it, it’s still good. Just wanted to give this little update.

Thanks for the advice!

Bought the game recently, I just don’t really… get it?

So I bought disgaea 1 on steam, and for context, ive always been a fan of TRPGs a la SRW and 100line, that, combined with the really cool artstyle and aesthetics, led me to wanting to play it.

I’m about 2 hours in right now, and I don’t know why but its like theres some kinda mental block preventing me from enjoying the game, I’m not hating on it or anything! I just don’t really…. Understand it?

I really, really, really wanna give this game a go since it SHOULD check all my boxes but like. I just cant fully get into it. Does anyone have any advice?

Can anyone help me find a pre-patched persona 2: eternal punishment PSP rom?

The PSP version of persona 2: eternal punishment never received an official English translation. There exists a fan translation, but it needs to be patched into the rom. I’m playing on a steam deck, and it turns out the patcher doesn’t work on that! I’ve tried troubleshooting it for like an hour and nothing has worked, so now I’m trying to look for a pre-patched rom but have gotten no results. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Genuine question: can anyone help me find TD games that aren’t medieval-themed or roguelikes?

I’ve always LOVED tower defense games, they’re made for me. But ive barely played any because a lot of them are either roguelikes (which I hate) or use a medieval aesthetic/something similar, which I find really boring. This isn’t hating on any game in particular, they just don’t appeal to me. Would absolutely appreciate some good TD recommendations that don’t fit these 2 categories!!!

For reference, I really like PVZ, battle cats, and BTD.

Touhou is typically stereotyped as a series that only straight men are into, so now I wanna do research; whats the gender/sexuality divide between touhou fans?

Any tips on where to find a retro-looking smart flipphone somewhere with international shipping?

Im looking to detox from social media by getting a flipphone, however, I still need wifi for stuff like whatsapp for business and the sort. I live in Africa, so a lot of the places that sell these kinda things don’t ship to my region. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

I also want it to look retro because thats fun lol. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a requirement, but I’d prefer it

due to how normalized pedophillia was for a lot of early human history, theres a pretty good chance that you're a descendant of atleast 1 pedophile.

SO, on some specific models of steam deck, specifically the OLED ones, From Madness With Love is bugged and that causes the game to be almost impossibly inconvenient to play.

You see, steam deck OLED's come with HDR screens, which crank up the brightness on a game. From Madness With Love, however, responds to this poorly (for some reason, I don't know enough about tech to tell you why).

This causes the game to be insanely, insanely bright. Like, actively "makes your eyes hurt" bright. I've never seen anyone mention this, and after pulling my hair out trying to find a solution, I finally found 2 possible ones.

Option A: Set a launch option

go into the launch option settings (properties -> general -> scroll down), and copy and paste this string into it:

DXVK_HDR=0 %command%

Option B: Switch to proton 7.0-6

Properties -> compatibility -> check the box -> scroll down -> click "proton 7.0-6"

I know this seems simple in retrospect, but considering how obscure this game is, it was extremely hard trying to find a solution anywhere. I hope this helps anyone!!
