Is There Anyone Else You'd Like To See Get A Spinoff?

I supposed Curtis makes sense since he's a side character that appears often enough and he's not crazy or anything but...I personally didn't like him. He just seemed like someone trying to compete with Rick with his tech. Sometimes he seemed stupid too.

My ideas were always the parodies they did such as the Captain Planet parody or the Voltron parody. Their Avengers parody got a spin-off but it was basically one episode length if you added all of the shorts together if I'm correct? I liked all of these characters and I think them going on adventures would be more unique.

If they have to be side characters that are close to the main cast, Bird Person would work but I'm not sure what that show would be about.

One Of The Old Characters Will Get An Arc in The Revival

Basically, Daniella said one of the original characters from Victorious will get a satisfying arc in season one of Hollywood Arts.

My question is who do you think this is?

Please no spoilers if you know something, work for the show, etc. This is just for discussion. I want to actually ENJOY the show. If you know who visited the set or have photos from the set, I don't care. I don't want to know.

My theory is that it's Andre. Maybe he's lost his way and doesn't believe in himself anymore? I'm not really sure who else could have an arc? I don't really think there's more to unpack with Beck or Robbie unless they add more to their characters. I imagine Ariana would be too busy to return for multiple episodes but I could be wrong. Jade also works. Maybe she could have an arc where she becomes nicer.

My Votes + Opinions for This Week

It feels like they're really limiting who will go on with only 3 spots being available! We're going to run into a problem because I'm sure some of the other nights will be STACKED with talented people.

It seems like some of the people they called back did better than the ones that they let through right away.

I thought the choir was okay, they sounded good but that's just not really my kind of act.

I thought the mentalist act was good actually. It wasn't slow. They've had slow mentalists on the show before and it definitely was not them. It felt like they were way too harsh on them. This is the one mentalist act I've liked from this show so I don't want them getting eliminated. I still feel like acts like this have to be fake in someway. Not everyone knows their star sign.

To me, the tumbling act just felt like it was more of the same. Clearly, they are talented but I felt like it was similar.

Ash - I didn't really connect with the song. I also liked some of the other singers more.

The dancing guy was okay. I don't know if this was a step up. It really feels like he does the same dance move over and over. It's okay for that to be your theme but diversify a little bit? It felt like some of his other moves weren't that good to me. He was breaking dancing but it looked like he moved around a little bit and that was it. I liked the clock dance move and the group doing his signature move together.

Hundred - This still feels almost more like a dance act than a magic act to me. Sure, things are disappearing, fans are appearing, and they're moving something around. I just wouldn't call this a magic act. I like the personal magic acts with cards or the ones with boxes. I just don't really like this that much. I don't see it as a magic act, it's dance to me.

Brook - I thought she killed it! I really like those moments where she's just letting it all out. I think that's the moment they want the singing acts to have. Just singing a song isn't good enough, they need big moments. I liked listening to her! VOTED FOR.

Royal - I thought this was good. I liked the video game elements and having Terry as part of it was cool. I think they should lean more into them fighting video game enemies.

Olivia - I think she killed it and this was so fun to watch! I hope she goes on! VOTED FOR.

Cris - I thought he was entertaining! I usually don't laugh at the comedians but I do feel like his jokes were setup well. I don't get why comedians don't get more time when the mentalists acts are so long, ya know? VOTED FOR.

Luke - I personally wasn't a fan of the song and I don't like the fast rap. I like hearing what the person has to say.

Will The Anime Add More To The Story?

I think it's awesome that a canceled manga is getting an anime. It seems like they're trying hard to promote this one but...why? I think they should promote it, don't get me wrong but I would hope they're trying to expand the manga in a way? Maybe the author can add more content to the anime? Maybe the manga will continue?

I've had this idea for a while that canceled manga can still have value as anime series. What if people like the anime? Maybe it didn't do well as a manga but if people like the anime, they could support the manga. I think it's a good idea. There's plenty of anime series based on light novels.

Please NO SPOILERS. I am anime only.

Opinions on Callbacks Part 2 + One Act I Think Should Return

Intro:

I actually don't have much to say about this week. I really enjoyed it just like last week and I really hope they keep this round. Just picking people randomly or only having a few perform was a bad idea. While I love this round, I think it could be even better if they just let everyone they said yes with perform again but who knows if that would lead to some of the people that got a yes to the live show this season not getting one.

Are there any acts you think did well with one job that might have trouble if all the judges were present?

Nene: I understand that people love her and think that she's very talented. I'm not disagreeing with any of that. I guess I just prefer hearing more singing than the instrument. I remember there was a guy a couple seasons ago who played his instrument(might have been a guitar or something else) in a unique way but I felt like it sounded better when he just played it normally...I'm not really into rock music. I'd rather hear more of her singing instead of mostly playing and some singing. It seems like she's very popular so if she wins, more power to her.

Naimama: Wasn't this an act they went through quickly originally? I think they're talented but the act might need some tweaking. We have had very very good puppet acts in the past. I think the singing is good but adding some more comedy with the puppeteers actually talking would be good. Maybe they argue with the puppets. It's interesting to me how people seem to love Howie so much but I think he gave them some pretty bad advice. Howie is sometimes weird to me. Dancers will be compared to the best in their category(Yes, this happened on this show). I've forgotten if he encouraged doing covers or doing original songs for singers, maybe both. Today, he told them to not do opera and do something that fits in with everyone basically. Do these acts know they don't have to listen to the judges? What does a comedian know about singing? Also, having them(or suggesting) changing the act on the fly isn't cool AT ALL and I mean that for all of the judges.

Cris: I thought he did a good job. His audition was better but I believe he's the best comedian they've got unless I'm forgetting someone who automatically went on? I felt like his set was too short, magicians get to go on forever. Let the comedians talk a little longer.

Rynia: I think she got kind of screwed over here? I'm not really worried about anyone else who went home but she seemed like she could have done something better and made it further. If you're doing impressions, you have to do more, not repeat them. Also, she should switch up the act more. She doesn't have to be limited to "This is how this person would react". Do a whole conversation as the character. Pretend to be one person. What if the whole act was pretending to be Sofia? Doing a few seconds of each person makes me feel like she can't stay in those characters longer. This is the second TV show I've seen her own. I'm not sure if she's successful or not.

Daniel: I don't know why the show and the contestants as well frame the show like it's comedian vs comedian or singer vs singer. If you're talented and do a good job, I think the judges will likely push you through. I thought his act was okay. Since the show likes to frame it this way and he even did it himself I think, I thought Cris was better. I would have personally kept Rynia as I think her act has more potential.

Bird: I thought they did great. I don't really think it matters if he's closing his eyes. The judges and even the guest judges like to point out little things. A person is closing their eyes, a person is nervous, why does that matter if they're still performing well? They sounded really good.

Kameron: He did a really good trick. He might have jumped to my favorite magician this season.

Vah: I think his comment about performing outside was spot on and I think it was a little unfair of the show putting him here. It didn't sound as good as before and I think that's why he got eliminated.

Darrell: I thought this act was cool but it was so short. The car part just felt a little fake? Maybe it's all real but I guess you could see how I would be confused when he stayed back and didn't perform until at the end.

Brook: She can SING. I'm glad she got over the voice cracks or whatever was going on. She did a great job and it will definitely be interesting to see how she does moving forward.

Olivia: I thought she did a good job! I'm glad she was brought back. I thought her doing the callbacks was a little silly.

Concerns:

While I love this new format, I think that they put the contestants in unfair situations. Telling them they have to perform today isn't cool. I truly hope they told them to prepare before that. Maybe that was just on Howie because Sofia gave them until the next day. While this wasn't a problem, I think it would have been better for Mel, Simon, and Sofia to have a crowd for all of the acts. Darrell thought they were performing on a stage supposedly and being up and personal could ruin his act completely.

As I brought up earlier, I wonder if all the judges were present, would they fight more for certain acts or be more open to getting rid of some of them?

The only act eliminated here that I would have kept is Rynia. The magician from last week did good too but I wasn't too beat up over that one. I do think he should have been kept as well.

Probably Not Likely But Has There Ever Been A Situation Where Most or All of the Magazine Succeeded?

I used to not read new series due to them usually getting canceled but now that I’m back reading, I like some series that aren’t doing well. I know the rankings and sales are a factor in a series ending.

But I wonder what would the magazine do if most or all of the series were selling well? Surely nothing would get canceled in that case, right? I doubt they’d increase the number of series they print, right?

They Should Be More Forward On How Many Spots There Are

I felt like during the callbacks episode, they were saying there's only a few spots. I forgot if it was the acts or the judges but no one was saying a specific number.

Spoiler alert if you haven't seen the episode. Stop reading here.

So....Mel got 3 spots and Simon got 5??? Huh???? I agree with Simon's picks but if I were Mel, I would have maybe let 2 more through and if needed, I would have cut the country singing act.

Callbacks ARE GREAT! + Weekly Thoughts

I'm really enjoying the new (old) format. I know it has some changes but it's still callbacks. I like how personal it feels. I like seeing the acts talking even if it's just a little bit. I like seeing them talk to the judges and it's nice seeing the judges on their own.

Simon probably had more of the talent in his half of the episode but I also liked Mel's half of the episode. I definitely thought Mel's half of the episode was strong.

I almost feel like the auditions and live shows could use more of this personal feeling.

Mel's Half:

So the first act was Patterson and I'm sure this was all planned but I liked them going to hangout before the acts performed again. It just feels more personal. I didn't laugh but I thought his act was good. I would have advanced him to the next round personally.

I thought the magician was good. I'm not sure why he was eliminated? Especially with what happened in Simon's eliminations, I would have picked both of these guys.

I don't really have anything to say on the country music act.

I think mentalists are completely fake and someone has to be helping them or there's some sort of mind game going on but I have to give it to these two, they did a good job. Maybe my comment is too harsh but sometimes the judges act like this is real or something. Clearly they're doing something or have seen something ahead of time.

The other country singers(?), I thought they did alright. I don't think the acts need to listen to the judges on everything. If you have a song planned, sing it. I know Simon likes to stop acts and have them sing again but that's not realistic for everyone and could even be fake for all I know.

I thought Bety did the best. I noticed the other singers seemed worried after she sang and rightfully so. She blew all of them out of the water and stands out more. I also like that she sings in English and Spanish. She shouldn't even have been a callback.

Simon's Half:

I really enjoyed Mel's half of the episode but Simon's half definitely had more of the talent.

Sando was someone that I thought didn't need to listen to Simon's advice at first. It's a dance act, he's used to dancing online. Just do more moves and make it bigger, you know? Turns out...Simon's advice was right on the money. At first, I was a little worried since the dance act was him doing his "signature move" over and over but maybe half way through, they got me and I really enjoyed this one. The extra people really made it good. I will say his act still feels small and I want to see more of a variety of dance moves...He relies on his signature move way too much. I guess that can be his thing but I don't think that can work forever. I also don't think he needs a whole dance crew like they were suggesting to him.

Travis is a good singer. I don't really get the odd criticism. Okay, he is performative, so what? Singers dance and do these sorts of things. He had a good performance but he was criticized for being technical but not having heart. Why does that matter? If he can sing, he can sing.

But then...I felt like I was wrong. There was the vocal duo of the two brothers or friends and I don't think they're better singers necessarily but I connected more with their performance. The tip of using the stage more and moving around really helped them. I felt like Simon stopping them was a little disrespectful but he did help them so what do I know?

The dads were just okay to me. They'd be an act that would make it to the live shows if the talent was lower I feel. They're good dancers but I think this act could be more of a traveling show or something on social media. It's just not good enough in comparison to other dancers and I think the theme of them being parents can get old.

Akira had a good performance for sure but I wouldn't have put him through to the next wrong. There has been some acts like this before and I think they're all Japanese acts, right? It feels like something that maybe would be more of hit in one's home country but maybe not here? I could be wrong.

Elsie did better than before but if it was down to her vs. the other singers, I would have picked them. But Simon...had plenty of room for who he let through so...only one act got eliminated. I don't know if it's because it's Simon or because they have the room but if Mel had more potential spots, I would have let the magician and comedian through.

I loved seeing how worried some of the singers looked after seeing other singers do well!

Great episode and I can't wait for next week. I think the judges really show their strengths alone.

I Still Think They Could Get More Seasons

So it seems like people think the movie will be the end of iCarly and that very well could be true. It makes sense. The show was popular but got canceled due to the writer’s strike. The revival had a cliffhanger.

But here’s my thing…let’s say the movie does really really well. I could see Paramount offering them another season or two. It’s clearly still a profitable series. I don’t know how writer’s strikes work but I’m guessing they have to pay the writers and staff anyway or maybe have to pay for a set they’re not using? I guess the cost built up and things had to be cut.

I’m sure the actors would be down. Some of them are still working on things but I’m sure they’d love to continue bringing life to these characters.

That’s just my take. I thought the revival was good and would love more.

Feedback on Some of the Acts That Made It/Didn't

This was an interesting episode because the judges didn't keep some acts I'd expect them to keep.

They kept some that might have been fine if they hadn't said yes to so many people. Like if there were open spots, these people would have been fine. But vs. other people, I wouldn't have kept them. I don't know all the names of the acts.

The comedic singer who's pants are falling down during the performance. Where can this go? Why keep this guy?

The husband and wife act where the husband just gets hurt. I didn't like this one. I don't see why they're coming back personally. I think the audience will be grossed out or not like them and they'll be gone in the first elimination.

The guy who does impressions, I don't really know where that can go either.

I was VERY surprised the rockstar girl wasn't picked to go through. Her act was one of the most popular this season, no? Also, she's already quite popular, I'm not sure what she needs to prove to the judges.

I'm surprised the "over performative" singing guy was picked for callbacks. He seems like someone they'd normally just let through. I don't get being nitpicky when someone is talented. Like sometimes they point out someone being nervous. Who cares if they're nervous if they can sing or dance? If it sounds good, it doesn't matter if they're nervous. Or someone looking too cool or performative, don't singers do those kinds of things?

I think the social media dance guy deserved the call back. I felt like he did a style of dancing that just didn't look too big on TV. If you can dance, you gotta do something bigger for TV. Even if the dance requires skill, it just didn't look that big on TV.

Cris seemed like someone they'd just let through. I'm not sure why he was picked for a call back.

I think the mentalists are a waste of a spot. I think every mentalist act is fake and helped out by the show because otherwise it makes no sense.

I'm really surprised the dog girl wasn't just sent right through. She seems like someone they'd let through especially with them having somewhat big variety for the people they let through.

I feel like we're gonna end up in a situation where a Golden Buzzer isn't as good as thought or one of the acts let through right away weren't as good as thought. Judge Callbacks is a start but I don't like putting acts against each other at this stage with only what...a judge and guest judge involved? What if a judge has two good acts? Then what? How many people are they letting through? Is it just 1 per judge? Or is 2? 2 is more reasonable.

Lazy, Cheap Episode Style...

I don't know much about TV show production but I do know that clip shows are cheaper to make than other episodes. The show has done...two or three clip shows at this point it feels like?

I guess I just don't get what's going on. The show used to do Judge Cuts and the contestants would compete again. Now we have a whole episode dedicated to recapping the Golden Buzzers AND some of the other acts. Why??? I was pretty disappointed when they started recapping all of the Golden Buzzers. Also, using a whole episode for this is crazy. I mean it was nice to see some of the thought process behind who they picked and who they liked but I think if they could have made this a small part of the episode and then just jumped into having people perform again.

A couple of seasons ago didn't they have multiple specials or recap episodes. It's like they have a large episode number but just don't know what to do with it anymore. When people asked for Judge Cuts back, Simon basically said he doesn't care if people aren't satisfied with that. This was when they just passed people through.

Confused on callbacks?

Callbacks are in 2 weeks according to the ad but then next week they said acts that are going to the live shows are confirmed.

So would that be this instant “yes” ones?

I’m not sure if I like the idea of the judges working with acts. Just do the judge cuts like they did before. But hey, this could be good. I was fine with most of the people they’re seemingly making perform again but some of them are clearly talented…Also, is this one or two episodes? If it’s just one, they could have cut the look back episode they did.

Over 100 acts are left? They said yes to far too many people.

If the show kept going, who could have joined the main cast?

This show has a pretty packed cast already. But let's say the show kept going and they could expand the cast or even had to expand the cast. I am thinking of existing characters but if you really want to, I guess you could take characters from other Nick shows.

If the show kept going, I think that Sikowitz, Sinjin, or Lane could have been upgraded to main character status. I don't really think it would be an issue having the teachers more involved.

Sinjin could be expanded from being more than just being weird. Sikowitz and Lane could just showcase their lives more? Maybe it could involve a play or something and how hard it is to be a teacher. Maybe they could go visit Lane more.

What Nintendo Franchise Could Be Remade/Expanded On?

My idea was turning Ice Climbers into a 3D platformer.

I think Kid Icarus Uprising was a good game but I'd prefer if it just had ground combat. I'd like for that to get a studio that can do more consistent releases.

I think Star Fox could be expanded by adding ground combat just to diversify the gameplay. I feel like Star Fox is very old school.

Arms could maybe do a 2D fighting game and have an area you can explore and experience a story like Street Fighter. What if the characters could move around the city like Spider-Man?

Animal Crossing could do something to highlight the animals more? Maybe some sort of RPG or story driven game.

Mario Kart could do a story mode. I think the open world idea was bad.

I could see Splatoon maybe switching things up and being something where players could explore a big city with friends. Maybe it could be like Nintendo's Genshin or GTA?

I think Dragalia Lost really should be remade into something like Genshin. Maybe they should avoid the micro transactions just because people complain about things like that.

Pokemon Trading Card needs to expand into a world where you can walk around and it should have a deeper story. I played the old one and I was surprised at how much people liked it.

Sushi Striker could be an action platformer.
