finally bought a house and kinda regret it ngl

so yeah, did the whole thing. saved for years, got the keys, felt like an adult for like a week. now im just tired lol

the house is fine i guess but every weekend is home depot. like seriously. the previous owners did some weird diy stuff that im still finding. last week i pulled out a drawer and found a hole to the outside. just a hole. with leaves in it

everyone says owning is better than renting but nobody tells you about the 8pm panic googling -why is my water heater making that sound. or the feeling when you realize the previous owner painted over mold instead of fixing it

idk maybe im just venting. im not selling anytime soon probably. but man. i understand now why some people just cash out and walk away

maybe im just tired. or maybe homeownership is overrated. or maybe i just need a weekend where i dont touch a hammer

Really don't want to pay $14k for a new roof just to sell

My Raleigh ranch in NC just hit the market and the inspection came back with a $14,400 roof replacement estimate. Honestly, I don't have the cash to drop on that right now, especially after already spending a ton on landscaping.

I'm looking for a way to sell the place as-is without getting totally lowballed by those big corporate investor groups that send the "we buy houses" postcards every week.

I found a local team in NC that handles these exact types of situations, so I might just go that route instead of dealing with contractors. It's frustrating because the rest of the house is good, but apparently, asphalt shingles are the only thing buyers care about in this $350k price range. I just want to move on without the debt.

Do you have a backup plan life in your head that you secretly wouldn't mind living?

Not your actual life goals. The completely different version. Different job, different city, different pace. The one that lives in the back of your head as a what-if

what’s your favorite rav4 mod or upgrade?

I’ve been seeing a lot of different RAV4 builds lately and it’s crazy how much people can change the look and feel of the car without going over the top

What mod or upgrade made the biggest difference for your RAV4 and what’s one thing you think is 100% worth doing vs something you wouldn’t bother with again?

Am I overthinking local SEO for a small service business?

Helping a friend with a small local service business and I feel like I’ve gone down a rabbit hole.

Between citations, backlinks, on-page stuff, reviews, etc., it feels like there’s a massive checklist.

But then I look at competitors ranking locally and some of their sites are… not great.

So now I’m wondering - what actually moves the needle at a basic level?

If you had to focus on just a few things early on, what would they be?

why do certain memories randomly come back years later for no reason?

sometimes my brain randomly brings back super specific memories from years ago that i havent thought about in forever. not even important memories sometimes just completely random moments conversations smells places or tiny details. and for some reason they suddenly feel weirdly emotional when they come back. is there actually a reason our brains do this or is memory just random like that?

I want a book that feels like wandering through a quiet town on a rainy afternoon

Not looking for action or romance or mystery. Just description. A small place, a slow pace, someone noticing the way light hits a wet leaf or how a shopkeeper arranges jars on a shelf. I read something like this once and did not appreciate it until I tried to find another. Now I realize how rare it is to find a story that just sits still and lets you breathe inside it.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a quiet book where the setting matters more than the plot?

is university still worth it in 2026

curious about university because opinions seem very mixed now, some people say it’s essential for a good career and opportunities, others say you can learn the same things online or through experience and avoid debt, i’m wondering how much it actually helped people in real life after graduating and if they would choose it again knowing what they know now, what’s your honest take?

What nobody tells you about reactive dogs before you adopt one, and what actually helped us turn things around?

I got a 3-year-old rescue dog, who had reportedly been "a little nervous around other dogs." This proved to be quite an understatement.

During the first week, he would bark whenever we saw another dog. I stopped going to the dog park, began scheduling our walks during the early morning hours when there were no people around, even declined all invitations since I could neither leave my dog alone nor take him anywhere.

In reality, what did make a difference was bringing in a professional rather than relying solely on watching videos online. The trainer from all dogs unleashed not only worked with my dog, but she also made me realize how my own anxiety on the leash was aggravating things. Whenever I saw another dog, I would tense up instantly, which he sensed immediately.

We can now walk normally. Eight months ago, this seemed impossible.

Has anyone out there gone through a similar experience? What worked for you?

the age of the algorithm and the borderless beat

the current decade has become a fascinating landscape where the concept of time and geography has almost entirely vanished from the way we experience sound, we are living in the era of the short form video and the viral loop where a fifteen second fragment can define a global hit and breathe new life into a forgotten track from fifty years ago in a single afternoon, the nineteen twenties and the twenty twenties have found a strange kinship in their shared sense of frantic energy but today that energy is fueled by a digital hyperconnectivity that allows artists from different continents to collaborate in real time without ever meeting, it is a period defined by extreme genre fluidness where a single artist might jump from hyperpop to country to lo fi hip hop on a single album because the modern listener no longer thinks in terms of categories but in terms of moods and playlists, the rise of artificial intelligence as a creative tool has sparked a new conversation about the nature of authorship and the human soul in music while the return of massive live spectacles has reminded us of the irreplaceable power of physical presence, we are seeing a beautiful contradiction between the ultra polished production of digital superstars and a growing movement of raw bedroom pop that values vulnerability and imperfections over studio gloss, it is a decade that belongs to the curator and the creator alike where the barriers to entry have never been lower and the sheer volume of new music is a vast ocean of endless discovery, as we move forward the twenty twenties continue to prove that music is our most resilient and adaptive language constantly reinventing itself to reflect the complexities of a world that is always on and always changing

random thought about wealth, people always say “if i had more money everything would be better” but then you see people who already have a lot and still stressed or not satisfied, so not sure where the line is where money really makes a difference, like when does it stop solving problems and start not mattering as much, anyone who improved their income a lot did your life actually change or just different problems?

my dad moved into assisted living last month and now i’m stuck trying to empty his townhouse in oakville before the closing date. thought i could handle it myself after work but every night i’m just moving old furniture around and filling my garage with random stuff. there’s also an old treadmill in the basement that apparently weighs 400 pounds for no reason. been looking into house cleanout service around oakville and ontario potentially, and found 1 day junk removal services

did anyone here actually hire a company for this and can recommend?

omg I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately!! when i had more walk in customers it felt reaally personal and kinda cute in a way, people would come in and we’d just build bouquets together on the spot. i really loved that part, it felt super creative and fun in the moment, ofc

but!

moving more into online orders actually made me explore my creative side more and im really feeling myself. like now i just design what i like and if someone vibes with it online they order it anyway, so it kinda pushed me to trust my taste a lot more instead of constantly adjusting for each person in front of me (not that that would be a bad approach)

i still miss the walk in energy a bit... it had its own charm, but in this economy online just made more sense for me. it’s more stable and easier to manage, even if it feels a little less personal sometimes…also, for florists who are switching from walk ins to online, i rlly recommend bloomnation from the bottom of my heart it actually saved me so much stress with orders and setup, it just makes everything feel way more manageable

how do u feel about this?

u/miked0331 — 17 days ago

I am trying to find depression treatment where therapy and psychiatry actually feel connected, not like two totally separate things.

Right now it feels like I either get a short medication appointment where I barely explain what is going on, or therapy once a week that helps for a like 4 hours and then I am back to struggling again.

I am not looking for inpatient, but I also feel like regular outpatient care is not enough anymore. I have been reading about IOP and PHP programs, is this the option for me?

any suggestions what should I do?

I sell gym accessories on Shopify, mostly lifting straps and resistance bands. Been doing it about a year now and averaging around 150 orders a week. In the begnning I liked packing everything myself cause it felt like part of building the brand and I could make sure every order looked right

Lately tho its taking over my whole day. I’ll sit down to work on ads or email campaigns and then suddenly im printing labels for 3 hours and taping boxes. Had one customer last week order smth and turns out the stock count was wrong, had to message them and explain which was kinda embarrasing

Been checking warehousing companies in india cause some connect right into Shopify and handle fulfillment

At what point did u guys hand it off? Wish I knew earlier what the normal move here is...

I started walking more regularly just to get out of the house, and I didn’t expect it to make much of a difference.

But it actually helps clear my head, reduce stress, and just feel a bit more grounded.

For anyone else who walks regularly — did you notice any changes over time?
