40mm f2 finally arrived

Ordered from B&H on July 25th when it was back ordered. Got an email this past Sunday saying they didn’t know when it would be restocked or shipped. Got another email Monday saying it was shipped and arrived at my door today. Gotta love B&H.

older architecture in this city is beautiful

I love just wondering around this city and seeing the older homes and buildings that stand out in the neighborhoods. I feel like there are so many hidden gems in this city. Makes me feel lucky to live here.

overcast day

Not used to using a zoom lens, but liking the 18-40mm kit lens for the time being before the 40mm prime gets restocked.

your first Leica

I’ve been a photography hobbyist for years. Used old Minolta digital, Sony, got a new Lumix, dabbled in film with a K1000 and have a bunch of old film cameras from my grandfather that some work and some do not.

Leica has always been “the” brand, obviously for a reason if you cut out the hype and red dot clout.

I’m curious to know what was the Leica that got you into the Leica world? Why did you get that one (other than it was what you could afford). What drew you into the brand and what did you discover once you had one?

Apologies if this type of post is not allowed. It’s always been a grail to own one just for camera history sake. I find cameras as not just tools but also like the history behind them, similar to classic cars for some people.

first shots with the S9

Went for a walk to test out the new S9. Ended up with these two that I really like.

what lens are we using?

Snagged the S9 recently as an upgrade to my old Sony a58 and wanted to see what people are using for their L mounts.

Already have the 18-40mm and have the 40mm prime on back order.

Haven’t been in the lens world since I had a lot of old Minolta ones that worked on my Sony, so looking to see what the good choices are in the L mounts world.

I’ve mainly shot with a 35mm prime on the Sony which was around a 50mm full frame equivalent.

what is your favorite L mount lens?

I recently picked up a Lumix S9 to replace my Sony A58.

Obviously none of my old Sony or Minolta lenses will work, so looking to see what are some great glass options that do not break the bank.

I always loved using my 35mm on the Sony, pretty much the only lens I used 90% of the time. Sony was APS-C so it was closer to a 50mm for full frame. I also mainly shot prime lenses as well, rarely used zoom.

I’ll be picking up the Lumix 40mm f2 once it is back in stock, but would love to hear opinions on some other L mount that are great quality for the price.

Realistically I would not want to spend more than $400 on a lens so that’s also a factor.

Edit: gonna add that even if your lens recommendation isn’t under $400 new, I’m happy to wait and search around for used options and look for deals. I just meant in my post I’m not dropping $1k on a piece of glass for a casual shooter.

cheap frame baller parts

Anyone else care less about the frame than the parts attached to it? Figure frames come and go but parts can be swapped and last a lifetime.

follow up new fork day

After riding an aluminum fork on this bike for the entire time, it feels like a new bike with this thing on it. So smooth.

Snagged during their Memorial Day sale for 20% off. Finally delivered. Full build pic to come soon. Been wanting one of these ever since I got into fixed gear bikes.

I burnt my finger in the freezer

Went to grab some ice and felt a burning pain. Burnt the crap out of my finger somehow. TIL that there are coils under the ice maker that heat the ice to allow them to release from the machine. Turns out it’s not covered by anything in my freezer and got a sweet burn due to the timing I decided to grab some ice.

Watch Upgrade Time?

Currently have the Venu Sq (yes the first gen old one that’s square) that I’ve been using for a few years now and looking to potentially upgrade.

The features and amount of watches offered is making it a pain to figure out what I exactly need since any of the ones they offer are currently way more advanced than what I wear now.

I mainly use the watch for everyday wear to just track basic health metrics.

I cycle quite a bit, but will use my Wahoo head unit, a power meter, and chest HR strap to capture that data, unless I am on my fixed gear bike. When I ride that bike my watch is used for tracking in the cycling activity setting. I’d say I ride both bikes equal amounts, if not the road bike just for longer rides.

I don’t usually wear it to bed as I’ve got a bit of chafe when I did last that kept me from wearing it for a few days, not sure if user error there.

I like a more professional look as I work in business and something too sporty looking doesn’t go all the time so I end up swapping it out for a real watch on occasion, but don’t have to do so if it was nicer.

So my question would be, is there a watch out there that would be worth an upgrade to, or since I’m pretty basic with my uses and use other data capture elements, does it make sense to just keep rocking this one until it dies, or potentially upgrade to a new old stock Garmin?

Appreciate any feedback and help.

Pretty sure it might have been their first game and they blundered it to me somehow. Highest loss I’ve seen since I made an account and started at 800 and immediately lost and dropped to 200ish.
