Caught a Lite Sneeze in STL
Couldn’t resist recording this one.

I can’t find any info online about an opening act. Does anyone know if there will be one in St. Louis tonight?
Thinking about hosting a spring house party fundraiser for a non-profit.
Looking for fundraising ideas/ activities to raise extra funds outside the ticket price. Plan on having a DJ spin records from the 1990s and on. Food and drinks will be included in the ticket price. What's fun (that can raise money) at a house party?

It’s hard to remember a time when we didn’t have free texting, free long distance, FaceTime and email. These were all written in 1991-1992. I haven’t seen them since I don’t know when. They sweet and a little bit sexy. Pretty racy for a couple of 18 year old kids.
If you’re not familiar with the event, it’s a dance party with coffee instead of alcohol and they meet in the morning. This one should be pretty epic. Tickets: https://posh.vip/e/sunday-house-club-coffee-party-series-august-2nd 10am-2pm
Our neighbors have invited us to spend several days with them at their home in another state. We will be spending 3 nights at their place, and going horseback riding, visiting a national park, and going on a chartered fishing trip. Trying to figure out something nice for them. They have really nice taste and two lovely homes. I know they do a large shopping trip at Costco when they arrive at their somewhat remote 2nd home, so I’d like to gift them a $200 Costco gift card to offset the cost of feeding us, but I’d also like to get them something more personal. The husband is a bourbon drinker, the wife not so much. She likes antiques and cooking. We will be flying to their location and checking bags. We will be renting a car, so we can also pick up something after we land, before we drive to them. Would love some ideas in the $100 or so range.
Edit: After talking to a different neighbor, I was thinking some l’occitane soap and lotion for the bathroom with some custom embroidered hand towels. Does that sound like a nice gift?
Free show. Bring a picnic and a cooler OR purchase food and drink from K-Bop food truck, Dulce Pop, and Square One Brewery. This show is gonna be amazing. It’s a 90s alt-rock band who plays fantastic covers of all your old favorites. They’re also nominated for Best Cover Band by St. Louis Magazine.
I’m hosting a few neighbors for dinner. Will be grilling some chicken and serving with a salad and rice pilaf and some garlicky French green beans. Is it totally tacky to leave the green beans and the rice pilaf on the stove so they stay warm while I have people going through the buffet line (which will be on my kitchen island)? Or should I plate the green beans and rice in a bowl, possibly leaving them to get cold? It’s been forever since I’ve had a dinner party that wasn’t just family, so I’m feeling overly anxious about this one point.
I’m a volunteer not a designer. Trying to be trendy and a little bit edgy with the tshirt designs. Are we too far past “brat summer” and “eras”? I made a “Square Girl Summer” t-shirt that was immensely popular with the group. Looking for feedback. Thanks!
I’m not trying to make clear ice. Would love to pick some up.
Pack a picnic and some lawn chairs and come spend some time in beautifully shaded Lafayette Park. Or, even better, support Steve’s Hot Dogs and grab a dog. 🌭
White peonies, pink garden roses, pink spray roses, white and pink gerberas, some kind of whitish yellow button flower and eucalyptus. I was shocked at how many pretty flowers there were at 2pm on a Sunday. Usually the flowers get wiped out in the morning.
50 artists Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. It’s free! And after on Saturday night, the 1st concert of the season from 6-9. Bring your lawn chairs and coolers!
The oldest and most popular spring house tour in St. Louis is returning.
The 57th Annual Lafayette Square Home & Garden Tour will be held on Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th. All homes and gardens will be open both days from 10 am to 5 pm. Tickets are valid for both days.
The tour will feature 11 of our remarkable homes and three beautiful gardens. In addition, tourgoers can enjoy
Makers Market, featuring local vendors selling their specialty crafts.
Antique Fair, where you can discover one-of-a-kind vintage treasurers from dozens of vendors.
Art Fair, featuring local artists selling their original creations in various media.
Vintage Baseball, where you can watch fun and historic games on Saturday, complete with vintage uniforms.
Trolley Rides that conveniently transport you around the neighborhood.
Classic Packard Cars, admire these beauties from the 1940s and '50s, located in the Park
Both Fairs are set up around the Park.
Whether they do so during the tour or they stick around afterwards, hundreds of hungry and thirsty tourgoers will take the opportunity to discover and patronize our many great local restaurants. Of course, in between visits to the homes on tours, visitors will have time to walk through the oldest public park west of the Mississippi to explore the rock garden and the grotto and maybe even wander down Park Avenue to take a look at our Community Garden. Thanks to the Arts Council of Lafayette Square, we will wrap up the first day of the tour with the first 2026 concert in the park at 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 6th.
2 giant boxes filled with donuts of all kinds.
When I pulled up about 8 minutes past the time window and asked if I was still ok to pick up, the guy responded, “No problem. It’s your lucky day” and gave me the box I ordered plus an extra.
I’ve been distributing donuts to neighbors because there’s no way we can eat or even freeze all of these. There are layers and donuts under the donuts you can see.
Eating my hostas. Ugh won’t let me edit the title. Lafayette Square.
Had an amazing time in Vegas Thus-Sun. Stayed at the Luxor (due to its proximity to Allegiant Stadium for the BTS show. Upgraded to the 2 room tower suite, which was great for the 3 of us. Had 2 bedrooms, two full baths (with tubs and walk in showers - both due for an update), a dining room, a living room and a wet bar. Door dashed some essentials from Walgreens to stock the room with Red Bulls and candy. Mostly avoided buying things from the overpriced hotel stores this way. 2 Starbucks at the Luxor. Convenient to the west tower. Visited daily. Not sure why this place gets a bad rap. We thought it was nice. Cheaper than booking 2 separate rooms. Lots of space to lounge. Have I stayed in nicer hotels? Sure, but this worked for what we were doing.
First day: early check in at the Luxor. Gave the woman a $20 tip to see if she could do anything to make our stay more enjoyable. She was like, “you’ve already got a nice room, not much I can do for you.” So that didn’t work. Maybe because I didn’t sandwich it? lol. Got lunch at the Mexican restaurant in the Luxor, which was fine, but served on paper plates. Not a return visit for me. Went back to the room to chill and nap before our evening out. (Long and early travel to get to Vegas and the time change.)
Next up, dinner at Momofuku at the Cosmopolitan. Delicious, but felt like the service was rushed. Got some mocktails, the pork buns, spicy cucumbers, a chicken dish and a couple bowls of mushroom ramen. Hit up Milk Bar on the way out for cereal milk ice cream. Fantastic.
Headed to the Bellagio for the Pinky Ring. Booked a table. We got there totally early because dinner was so fast. Fun DJ at 9 pm and amazing band at 10. Service was personal and lovely. We ordered a few mocktails, some still and sparkling water, and a bottle of sparkling rose. One of our mocktails was accidentally an alcoholic beverage, which was no big deal to us, but a big deal to them. The mocktails were creative and probably the best we had on the trip. When it came time to settle up we hadn’t hit our minimum, and they actually refunded the difference and only charged us for what we drank because of the accidental alcoholic beverage they served us. We were not expecting that, but it was a really kind gesture. Still tipped on the original minimum spend because outside of that mistake, service was impeccable. Back to the Luxor for sleep.
Day 2: Next morning we headed to the Venetian for breakfast at Yardbird where we ordered fresh squeezed juices, monkey bread, a crème brûlée waffle, watermelon, ambrosia fruit salad and bacon. Highly recommend. I know it’s a chain but it was fantastic.
Left breakfast decided to play 1 game of roulette on a 25$ table. One of my $5 numbers hit and I won $175! Walked away with my winnings and went to Bouchon Bakery where we ordered more breakfast food pastries to eat in the hotel the next morning.
More time in the room where we relaxed for a bit. Decided to go souvenir shopping. Back to the Bellagio where we saw the fountains dance and where we picked up some Hermes twillies. Walked to the Cosmo for dinner at Superfrico. Service was friendly but slow. It appeared they were short staffed and we weren’t in a hurry so it was no big deal. Ordered mushroom gnocchi, chicken parm, fingerling potatoes fried in beef fat, and a mushroom pizza. Told him we were eating tapas style and to just bring the food when it came up. Food was great. The entertainment was unexpected. We saw a juggler, a man who balanced on wine bottles, a man dressed like a chicken and Cupid walking around.
Bought some last minute tickets on stubhub, so we caught an uber to the Park MGM where we saw the Jonas Brothers. They sounded amazing and put on a great show. Played a couple losing games of roulette at the Luxor, then gave up and went to bed.
Day 3: Breakfast was Starbucks and Bouchon bakery. We had appointments at the Aveda School for facials and blow outs (with iron work) which were great and cheap. Shockingly inexpensive. Stopped at Tacos El Gordo (?) on the way back to the hotel for some unseasoned tacos al pastor. The place was packed and the food wasn’t very good.
Back to the room to finish getting ready for the BTS concert. Headed over to Mandalay Bay for the walk to Allegiant. It was so hot and very crowded. Wished we had brought umbrellas for the walk. One at the Allegiant, there was virtually no crowd control. It was a mess getting into the stadium. Once there, we ordered some mocktails and sat in our fantastic club seats and watched a crazy show. Music was amazing. Show was phenomenal. Another shit show of crowd control for the walk back to the Luxor. Flew out way too early the next morning.
Great Girls Weekend in Vegas. The people we met were lovely and the food and shows were great. Never a dull moment!
A woman walked up and asked her if she wanted a freebie. My sister thought somebody was trying to sell her something and immediately said, “no.” The woman responded, “I’ve never had anyone refuse a freebie!” I then explained to her the concept. Which is crazy because I brought freebies to give out and she’s been looking at them for the last 2 days. And I’ve been calling them “freebies”.
I book a summer concert series for my local park (sponsored by a neighborhood arts council). I was scrolling social media last night and saw an “In memoriam” for a man whose band is booked to play in the park this summer. My contact for booking the show was his wife, but my contract was with him.
How do I tactfully say, “I’m sorry for your loss, is the band still playing?” without sounding completely heartless and tactless? I’m sad that he passed away on a personal level. I also need to find out if I need to rebook that concert. He passed away approximately a month ago.
I have no idea how to even approach this. I don’t know any of the other band members, I only knew the singer/leader who passed away. Help.
