People who hire surrogates shouldn't be allowed to back out for ANY reason.

I fell down the rabbit hole of documentaries about surrogacy and the number of people who write into their contracts that if their biological child isn't anything but perfect or close too, they have the right to walk away, leaving the surrogate if horrific debt and if the child is born, they end up in the foster system.

There are people who argue that if the bio mother discovered the problem and was able to abort then they could, but with surrogacy there are a million different laws and rules in place that mean sometimes the surrogate is forced to carry to term.

These people pay hundreds of thousands, sometimes even millions to have this baby and just walk away before its even born because its premature or MIGHT have a disorder but they won't know until after the birth.

Often these contracts get ripped apart in court, but many get upheld.

This shouldn't happen. The law should be protecting both Surrogate and Baby. Anyone who hires a surrogate should have automatic legal responsibility over the resulting child.

Clarkson's Farm's issues with TB have highlight we have a terrible way of testing for TB

Every time I watch the TB testing happen I sit there thinking how can anything so important be for inefficient. The farms entire future rest on a test that can kill a whole herd from an inconclusive test that can then be false. Surely with all of the medical expertise we have and the advancements in Veterinary testing we could have something more concrete.

We should be allowed to tell people how to parent.

I'm not just talking about parents who refused to punish their kids but also those who punish them too much. A super controlling parent whose causing their child to become a liar in order to do the simplest of things should be on that list too. We constantly argue about what makes a good parent and what should be done to ensure children are raised correctly and we all come to the same basic agreements.

Children should be taught to be respectable, they should be given boundaries and they should be given appropriate punishment when they break the rules. So why aren't we allowed to turn around parents who aren't doing any of that that they are doing a bad thing.

What has happened to Google Documents ability to use dictation Apps.

I often use my phone dictation app to write in Google documents and it has suddenly become unable to use the most simple of commands. Full stop, comma, Speech Mark, new paragraph, non of them work anymore.

At first I thought there was a problem with the dictation app but it still works fine in other places where I use it. It's just Google documents that is refusing to input what I'm saying. Does anybody know why this is.

My neighbour normally grows it in a green house, but this summer its been so hot that he actually planted it in his garden and it thrived. I am wondering that with the insane amount of heat and the future of our weather changing if home growing watermelon may actually be possible now and if I should take the leap and plant some next year.

AITAH for telling my friend that she can't be mad about not getting paid for winning a bet?

I'm not fond on gambling, and never have been. This will be important.

Some of my friends are, and its fine because its mostly daft stuff. Stuff like betting a night of babysitting for garden work, or half a muffin for a couple of choccy digestives. One friend (f34) is notorious for trying to get out of paying her due when she loses. She's taken plenty of wins and it has now reached a point where people won't involved her in the games anymore. She was upset, but didn't push about rejoining the fun until the world cup came along and money got involved. Not a lot of money, there are rules to make sure no one ends up owing anyone 100s and to keep things friendly.

She promised to behave and she was allowed back in, and did actually pay the first few times she lost, but as the matches progress and she started betting more she suddenly couldn't pay people just yet, or she'd bring it tomorrow and then have a WFH day. The last bet she placed on the england vs France won her a bit of money, but now people are refusing to pay her.

She spent several hours wining at me over messages and here is where I may have been the A***hole. I told her she could be mad about not being paid when she still owed other people their winnings. I she wanted people to hold up their end of the deal, she had to pay her's.

She told me I was just being judgemental because I don't gamble and called me a a***hole.

I don't think I was, but its eating at the back of my mind.

The Toy Story universe has little or no child predators because the toys protect kids.

The toys in Toy Story are a race of sentient beings that can reveal themselves when need and will try and help their kids when they can.

I think the toys sabotage anther/send evidence to the police to save their kids from predators who might hurt them.

People need to admit that they don't care about kids safety, they just don't want to share space with kids.

In public, online, in private, everyone talks about how they want kids safe but 90% of what I see is adults not wanting to share space with kids and coming up with excuses.

Public places will show antisocial behaviour and when you really look at the videos and evidence its the same damned faces, and rather than deal with those kids they punish everyone. Entire shopping centres refusing kids without parents entry, friend groups having to be less than 3 kids big.

The internet too dangerous? Instead of tracking the monster who will STILL target the children no matter where they go, you kick the kids off.

I've seen it on Reddit, which has always had a age limit of 13 and up bouncing the idea of raising the age of who can join. Many of the long term users started in their teens and now want to push them out. And for what? Being annoying? Bulldozing conversations? Being aggressive and dumb? Guess what the grown ups do that as well.

But they spout stuff about 'seeing things they shouldn't' and interrupting adult spaces' like adults haven't bee interrupting there's for decades.

And the excuse is always safety. Safety safety safety.

No. The vast majority of these measure are to make it easier to adults to be ins spaces without having to make allowances for anyone else.

'We listen we don't judge' was created by people who wanted to brag about misdeeds

Why else would anybody admit to doing something awful and thinking they aren't going to be judged when the other players admitted to taking the last muffin or still texting their ex?

white elephant was never a fun game

It was never about finding funny gifts and then claiming/stealing them. Someone always tried to use it to make themselves look good or steal the one thing someone else wanted. There is always someone who buys something that's way out of budget and someone ways ends up in tears whilst someone else defends themselves.

What is the etiquette for getting off the bus?

I have been told off by different driver for different ways of getting off the bus.

I stand up and press the button, the driver says one do one, because it makes the driver think there's more than one person getting off the bus.

So the next time I stood and the driver past my stop. He got mad at me and when I tried to explained he told 'not to give her lip'. Though this driver has also just yelled at a woman for changing seats mid journey due to a wet seat so he might have just been a jerk.

One saw me standing and told me to stay seated until we stopped. Just press the button and they'll stop for me.

Another got mad because I pressed the button but I DIDN'T stand up. When I said I had press the button they told me that wasn't enough.

So which is it? How do I signal to the driver I want to get off the bus without them 'punishing' me by just driving past it.

About to leave and worried about being charged for wear and tear

The property we are leaving has a lot of structural problems that wear have told the landlord about, and general wear and tear after living here 15 years.

The problem is that I am worried they will chase us to pay for the issues. The carpets and hob are old and in need of replacing and we are worried they will force us to pay. The reason I worry about the chasing us is they had us replace the oven after the 3 they bought all broke within a year. We know now it wasn't user error but the fact they were buying shody equipment.

But if they are willing to make us pay for their cheapness then I fear they will come after us for other things.

If you dog is a biter, you muzzle them or don't bring them out in public.

I don't care about 'leash laws' and 'don't approach us my dogs not friendly' statements.

You dog is in a public park/area. There are animals and children everywhere, and twisting paths so even when animals are on leases there are chances you animal will come into biting distance of others. Animals get loose and leashes brake. Kids are allowed to roam without fear of an animal appearing an snapping.

I am sick of seeing horrific attacks happen and the owners of the animals using a dozen excuses about why they aren't in the wrong. A Labrador should be dying of blood loss because he got too close to you in an area where dogs routinely play together. A person shouldn't end up in hospital because your dog approached them and then lunged. You waiting until some is within three 3 of your dog to give warning they are not friendly is no excuse.

The vast majority of animals are trained and raised to be friendly and safe in public. Stop blaming everyone else because you couldn't be bothered to trained to use safety equipment on you dog.

Pick you own farms are overpriced and not worth the effort.

You pay to get in, then you have to pay for the stuff picker, often way more expensive than a supermarket version, and the fruit isn't nay better. I've seen some produce farms who choose volume production over flavour and you are getting flavourless food. Not to mention the one site facilities are awful. If your lucky there are real, purpose built toilets. If your not then there are porta potties. And the farm shops are charging more than cinemas for water. If you really want a farm experience, go to a working farm place and take a packed lunch.

Over the counter medication should be price capped

I understand that some pharmacies have to put up with not getting the same offers and deals that's other brand name pharmacies and stores get but it has reached a point where some of them are being ridiculous.

No Name cough syrup should never be more than £5. A box of 16 paracetamol should never be £3. And the claim that that's what they're charged by their suppliers is absolute as I have worked with care professionals and supply chains myself and some of these pharmacies and chemists are simply profiteering. And it gets worse the further away from cities you get. You'll have the one pharmacy in a village charging four times the price for a common item. People's health shouldn't be held to ransom and I'm finding it alarming that no effort is being put into actually dealing with the exorbent pricing.

edit - To clarify, the reason people are buying at these prices is because they can't go elsewhere. Its easy enough to 'go boots instead' but some of the patients a buyers can't get to those locations and are reliant on local pharmacies.

Why are there government owned farms and factories?

America has government cheese, so why not go further. Government bread and veg and meat. Farms designed to provide basic product from the public has access to cheap food.
