In each of the uncovered documents lay specific clues, references and links to the old house universe. I have gone through A NEW FRIEND and have highlighted the relevant info and have given some page numbers and references with how they connect to WUTLH and TC.

A NEW FRIEND DOC

“To the window's right is a black IKEA Bondskäret hat and coat stand, a clear plastic rain poncho hanging from one of its hooks.” (tulpa coat rack recent document, coat rack is mentioned exactly 4 times in WUTLH and is a prominent object in TC where David and Macy both wear the olive green coat. The coat rack is the main entity also used in the man in my basement short story)

“carpeted staircase leading up to a hallway that recedes into shadow.’ (possible connection to the stairwell document, possible wing of old house, similar layout to TC 5637 residence / guardian house etc)

“three soft knocks reverberate at the front door.” (3 knocks are used by by visitors from TC, lucy does a similar action when first meeting Macy at the cliffs, Thomas also knocks on Eves door when he first arrives )

"Jane is counting to herself, her shaky voice barely above a whisper, "5… 4… 3… 2…" ( could either be playing hide and seek like Alison from WUTLH or could be taking part of the rites and needs to be counting yo keep track of time and mandates or could be potentially hiding from the entity also like Macy had to )

“Her left eye twitches. Jane opens and shuts her eyes three times, a compulsive-looking movement. She starts pacing again, chewing on her nails. She rolls a sleeve up to her elbow, revealing scribbled blue-ink writing all over her left forearm. Much of the writing is smeared and barely legible.” (Jane’s appearance and mannerisms point to her doing the rites like Macy as she does all of these exact same things in TC including the blue ink up her arm)

“a hazy cast of bluish moonlight shining off the repetitive woodgrain patterns.” (takes place at night just like in TC / 2:58)

“takes a deep breath and slaps herself hard across the face.” (Thomas does this outside in the snow of WUTLH and so does Lucy)

WUTLH pg 131 “Heather slipped out of sight and started riflng through cupboards again, still muttering, “Thieves, re.” Then, from somewhere deeper in the house, came a faint thud, followed by a short scrape. Like a rusty hammer, dragged across plywood. So subtle, it might’ve been imagined. The vague noise could have been anything, but… To Eve, it had sounded like a single footstep, followed by a dragging heel.

WUTLH pg 166 – 167 Standing between an old coatrack and a glass cabinet. Pin-straight posture. Motionless. As still as a storefront mannequin. Was it a mannequin? As if in response to her unspoken query, the figure took a sudden, step forward. The figure took another shuffling step forward, callused heels scraping the hardwood like sandpaper. She was tall, almost six feet, her face hidden behind peekaboo hands, like a child playing some terrible game. The woman took another sudden step forward before freezing in place. Then… two quick steps. Halted. One step. Halted. Three steps and— The flashlight blinked out. All the while, those scraping footfalls drew closer.

“A short pause, and then, a perfect imitation of Jane's voice says, "Speaking." (evidence that this entity can shapeshift)

I have also not listed every relevant clue and word from TC as there is a lot of lore to sift through in that booK. I think I have included the most relevant info and page numbers. Ever since I read we used to live here and the man in my basement takes one step closer each week I’ve always been highly suspicious of Tulpas.

There are now 2 different Tulpa documents.

I also made a little connection after my first read of “the man in my basement”. Paul. T is an anagram for Tulpa.

The more thought Eve, Alison and even Brandon give the tulpas / hive mind / entity the stronger the hold it has on that person.

The newest document uncovered reveals a lot of information which has me wondering if Mo could possibly be some sort of tulpa for Eve and even Doc for Macy. There seem to be a lot of “objects” that are alive. (Blue night stand) and so on.

I’ve compiled all AMA’s from the release of we used to live here from 2024 till the end of 2025 to help anyone who missed these. They contain a lot of spoilers, clues and references. These AMA’s will not have any info about THE CARETAKER and are strictly only related to we used to live here.

I just finished my 58th book of the year and Im in a bit of a slump. I’m aiming to read 100 books this year as I usually read 40-80 books yearly. I’m looking to get completely lost in a rich story again. Something you can’t put down or a book that lingers in your mind. I love a good unreliable narrator also. My favourite authors are Marcus kliewer, Eliza Clark, Rachel Harrison, Mona Awad, Marissa Pessl and John A Lindqvist.

I’m looking for some advice from other animal advocates, particularly if you’ve experienced trauma or mental health challenges.
I’ve been vegan for over 20 years. Before that, I chose to become vegetarian as a young teenager after learning about animal agriculture. It was entirely my own decision.
I grew up in a family of committed meat eaters who loved fishing, and my choices were often dismissed or forgotten. Meals were difficult, I often went without, and it was a very isolating experience. Even now, decades later, it’s still a sensitive topic.
I’ve been involved in animal activism for several years, but lately I’ve found it increasingly difficult to engage in conversations with people about animal welfare or veganism. I think part of this stems from growing up with a parent who was highly manipulative and emotionally abusive. I spent years being gaslit, and I’ve noticed that when conversations around animal rights become dismissive or defensive, it can trigger those same feelings and make it incredibly hard for me to continue the discussion.
I’ve been in long-term therapy and have done a lot of healing, but this is one area I still struggle with.
I’m wondering if anyone else here lives with CPTSD, depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges that affect their activism. How do you continue advocating for animals while protecting your own mental health? Have you found ways to cope with difficult conversations or avoid becoming emotionally overwhelmed?
I’d really appreciate hearing from others who can relate.

On some covers of the caretaker in Morse code it says KMW was here.
Grace’s hand was cold to touch.
David’s letters that he leaves Macy - at the end of the letters and some phone calls they pray to KMW!

We know KMW IS A COLD DEMON / SHAPESHIFTER
So what if it wasn’t the real Grace that Macy met. What if the real Grace died when David died and KMW had to step in to fulfil the rights until Macy agreed to take over 🤔

EDIT - wanted to add that this is evident through the recent chain of emails we have been receiving as KMW has been signing off on Graces emails!

Looking for recommendations similar to Eliza Clark and Mona Awad’s writing style. I really enjoy unreliable narrators, themes of loneliness, fractured identity, cultish vibes, feminism, horror, clever, witty writing.

I really don’t like anything dystopian or gore, body horror.

Other books I adored : we used to live here, A night film, sharp objects, I am behind you, have read all of Rachel Harrison’s books and Mona Awad’s.

Who is up for a healthy debate on who Eve may or may not be?

Is she / was she Alison, forever doomed by old house and Thomas. Maybe she is in the deepest cellars and every time she thinks she’s escaped and coped, wakes right back up again. Maybe as a different person or maybe always as herself but with no memory of the previous life. We also had no knowledge of what Eve looks like.

Is Eve another victim of old house and she really did loose the love her life and it’s just that simple. (Occam’s razer)

Is Eve also doomed to repeat history over and over again. She gave Thomas that scar which the old man in the cabin has. Thomas says “we gave you life” there’s some sort of time loop going on but perhaps that’s just within old house and the surrounding areas. We see that time starts to get funky as it is much throughout the novel. Old house in general as we know it’s special and the source of constant disappearances and strange and unusual activity.

She unknowingly uses portals throughout old house. (Blue cupboard, olive green door) She see’s the girl with black hair outside using the short cut 3 times. This same girl performs the cross pose directly in front of Eve just before Eve violently attacks both page and Thomas.
So could she be a violent host? Host also implies she has been stuck in old house for more than a year…

Religion is brought up time and time again and she has stated that she is a non believer now and lost her religion when she was 17. Is she being punished or is the entity trying to turn her into a believer.

Thomas and co needed a new victim forcing eve to take Alison’s place.

What are your thoughts and theories on Eve?

Does anyone have a copy of the special Barnes and noble edition? I’m really curious about the short story at the back and if it’s possible to post it on here? (If acceptable by the mods) I’ve tried locating a copy but they are all sold out and Barnes and noble doesn’t actually exist in Australia so I don’t know if it’s possible to ever get a copy or if they were a limited edition?

I would be eternally grateful 🙏
