How would you describe Ween's approach to writing?

For some reason when describing Ween to people, I use the following basic ideas:

-novelty played straight
-funny, but not comedic
-uses irony in a genuine way

The lyrics tend to use their goofiness and novelty in ways that are humorous, but at the same time can be a bit profound in ways you didn't expect.

There's a sense of innocence and simplicity that they seem to capture that allow them to branch off into wild places in a lot of other ways.

Maybe I've answered my own question, but lemme know what you think. What other bands/poets/whatever also seem to get this sweet spot right?

Trying to find small rewards

So the product of my work, study, and general focus is obviously its own reward, but it doesn't feel good in the short term.

Something I've been doing recently is giving myself short 'deserved' breaks on youtube or something when I'm at work. In this way, I keep myself from scrolling/going down rabbit holes/whatever, and I also motivate myself to do that next 20 minutes of focused work.

The important thing is that I'm not allowed to use social media or youtube at all unless it's a reward.

It's been working pretty well. I've also included 'fun money' which is money I allow myself after certain amounts of work. I won't go into detail of my system, but it's been working for me.

Money however is still technically extrinsic motivation though. It's something I can buy in the future, whereas youtube is something I can instantly enjoy

This has worked great for the office, but I do wonder what could instantly motivate me at home. They money's alright, but there's not much that I would choose to instantly rewa4rd myself with.

For example, if I'm at work, I'd love to watch a funny youtube video after I do a certain amount of work. When I'm at home, I can't think of anything I'd reward myself with.

Mostly looking for what you consider a fun little thing that you could reward yourself with after getting a small amount cleaning done or something.

So I'm comfortable gliding around. I like listening to music and just moving around a parking lot. Skate parks are more fun of course, but I feel a weird social pressure when I'm there. Everyone's so much younger and I feel old and in the way. It's hard to ignore it, but it keeps it from being fun and motivating to come back with all my pads and my butt cover lol.

Last summer I spent a few hours a week just getting comfortable on a board. I had some fun, but it sure was annoying putting all my gear on and not really having a spot to skate. I still can't jump at all, I may have gotten an inch last year lol. I'm 230 lbs, but I'm pretty built. Still losing weight though.

I dropped it when things got cold. Left my board in the car...hoping that didn't mess it up.

How much time does it actually take to really improve? I feel like I need coaching or something to get started.
