Soto ayam paling mahal yang pernah kumakan; and maybe one of the worst🙁

Oh I hope we got the sadfood tag here karena pengen banget share.

Nah itu) dan peyeknya aneh (it's dark, and I don't see the point why it's in that color soalnya rasanya kayak peyek pada umumnya).

Nggak ngerti siapa target pasarnya karena both of us sama-sama kecewa. Mungkin aku terlalu miskin, tapi agak nggak ikhlas ngeluarin 80k (plus tax and service) buat ini🙁

Sembalun, East Lombok, Indonesia

One of my favorite hiking areas in Lombok Island. This area is ringed by hills and mountains, ranged from 1000-3200s meters above sea level. Those checkered fields are rice and vegetables fields:)

One of my favorite free hobbies is stargazing

Just saw a post asking about free hobby and I think I need to share about stargazing. I know it's pretty popular and people been doing it since the beginning of the time (well, guess what? that's the fun thing about it!).

I usually do it from home, but sometimes I went the beach. It's always fun to look at the sky while listening to the waves crashing.

Along with gazing, I also do:

- Photography

- Identifying the celestial bodies with a star map app. My go to app is Stellarium, it's free and so easy to use. We just need to pan our phone to the sky and we'll see the maps. They also provide information for any visible celestial bodies.

- When I go out with a friend, we love to guess the constellation and the star name. Could do it for hours.

It's so relaxing:)

This weirdly empty spot next to Kedungu Beach

I went there at 3 pm, parked my bike, and decided to walk a little further to the west. The beach itself is just like a regular beach in the south of Bali, but there's a building (not sure what it is) with a small pathway next to it. It leads to the most beautiful grass I've ever seen (I'm exaggerating, but it looks so well maintained). It's so nice.

Canggu ... at 6 am

It feels bizarre to stroll around this place at the unusual hour, but I guess it's worth it.

[23/F] Looking for a pal to write to

Hello, folks. I'm Indonesian and currently living in Bali. I work with no day off, but have a lot of free times between the working hours and think that I could write to someone during those times. I prefer email as I wouldn't trust the post office in my country (my friend tried to sent me postcards from abroad and many of them never arrived). We could do messaging as well, but I don't think I could write too frequent.

Here's something that interests me:

- I'm into philosophical textbooks, my political stance leaning towards left. I read classical literature, especially Russian, as well as poetry (my favorite author is Dostoevsky and Rilke).

- My favorite physical activity is walking and hiking. I do photography as well. So I mostly combine these activities together. My favorite weather is foggy mountain and sunny beach.

- I work in construction, love architecture. Mainly, I have a special interest in religious places (church, temple, mosque, etc).

- On my bed before sleep, sometimes I draw, sometimes I do geography quiz. I can name all the countries and capitals name in the world.

I'd like a pal to talk about cultures, architecture, countries and society, philosophy, literature (would love to hear about your fav authors and works), hiking stories, or anything. We can also share pictures (I love documenting things and sharing them).

I don't mind your gender and age (I need female more actually, but male or other genders also welcome). If you're interested, please hit me up with a proper introduction (I wouldn't accept a low effort text) and make sure that it stays platonic.

Thank you in advance, may all the good things happens to you:)

Edited: Posted again as I accidentally deleted my previous post when I wanna edit something on it.

I survived a motorcycle accident in March 2025. In October 2025, my sister and nephew got into the same accident nearly 1 km from my accident spot. Both of them died. AMA.

For a brief introduction, my accident is a solo crash, while my sister got hit by a truck that took a wrong lane. My nephew died right away, while my sister survived for a while and died this February after 6 surgeries.

My family is still trying to navigate our life as my sister also left a 14 years old mentally ill son.

Sometimes the whole event feels like fiction, but then reality hits and I don't know how to feel. So, feel free to ask me anything. Thank you:)

My mom called me by my sister's name

My sister passed away this February after her motorcycle got hit by a truck that took a wrong lane. It was a shocking and tragic, as her 6 y.o. son also passed away in the same accident.

The whole family is grieving, but I think my mom is the one that having the biggest heartbreak. She didn't say anything about it, but my dad said she often made my sister's favorite meal or looking at her picture on the wall a little too long.

This evening, she called me and 'accidentally' calling me by my sister's name. She apologized, I said it's okay. She eventually cried, saying that sometimes she pretends that I'm my sister. That my sister is just going to another city like me and eventually will be back one day.

I told her that it's okay if she wants to keep calling me like that. I lost a sister, but she lost her baby. I'll cry myself to sleep tonight.

Soto ayam for dinner, it's an Indonesian chicken broth based meal that we eat with rice, rice noodles, vegetables, chicken, and boiled egg.

Abandoned building in Bali, Indonesia

It feels a little bit off to find this place as it located near a very crowded cafe/beach club. Solely by the architecture, it might be used to be a restaurant (but I'm not really sure).

Things about Nusa Penida that nobody told me about

I went to Nusa Penida unplanned and without a deep research (my fault, I know) two days ago. However I didn't have any expectations, I know the roads would likely to be narrow and damaged, not much lighting after sunset, it will be too crowded, etc etc.

In my mind, I'll deal with all of that later just like I used to do. But, here's the things that I found out that I think would be better if I found out sooner.

- Cars ... too many cars. It's hard enough using a motorcycle itself because there are a lot of twists, uphills, and downhills on the narrow and bumpy roads. It was harder because these cars sometimes stopping in the middle of uphill or downhill and you can't pass them. You need to be SKILLED (in capital btw) to get through that.

- Some of the places require hiking. There are a lot of them. Please wear a comfortable shoes. Always bring water. Never let your phone dies.

- There are no activities after dark. I went to Crystal Bay at 8 pm and it was completely empty (and it was a popular spot, crowded during the day). Not a single warung opened. Nice for stargazing, but you can do that from anywhere in the island.

- For the same reason, please buy your essentials (snacks, drinks, etc) during the day. You'll need it, trust me.

:)

Bekerja di male-dominated field membuatku terus-terusan merasa marah

Bidangku konstruksi.

- The thing is, deep down aku takut. Nature dari laki-laki semacam mereka adalah emosional. Jika kita terlalu baik, mereka mengira kita suka diperlakukan demikian.

Oh, how wrong he is.

- Also the casual racism!

Aku sendiri sebelumnya ingin berpindah pekerjaan, sampai aku menyadari bahwa it was never about me.

Segara Anak lake in low season, Lombok Island, Indonesia

For a very crowded mountain, we had a chance to witnessed this area being completely empty. We met several people on the way, but when we get there, it's just my friend and I :)
