Inde knew EXACTLY what she was doing when she said she wanted to work for Marvel following her success in this movie!

I’ve seen people talk a lot about how they think Inde Navarratte’s talent is so unique that they don’t think she should waste it in joining a huge franchise like Marvel, and should just stick to acting in movies that are more independent to allow her to expand her range where she could potentially build a career that almost resembles someone like Emma Stone’s for example (I’m sure there are other good examples, but that’s the first that comes to mind for me).

Even though I’m sure elevating her talent is important to her, she has her priorities straight where she also has to think about work that’s guaranteed to set her for life financially (since she only made $20K playing Nikki in Obsession) and having a Marvel role gives her that especially if she plays a character that’s likely to have more appearances in the franchise’s movies and if she can make this character a fan favourite that seals it for her.

I’m very excited to see her portrayal of Rogue!

Hatred aside, is Bear a well written protagonist?

As much as people have come to really despise Bear, and immediately recognize that he is the true villain of the story and not Nikki! I think these reactions really compliment Curry Barker’s talent as a writer, where he not only achieved his goal in creating such a controversial character.

But the fact that there is still so much discourse around him whenever it comes to this movie, where people still like to find details that support why he sucks as a person or why he is the way he is. I think is really setting him up to become an iconic horror movie character, in the same way Wish Nikki or “Freaky Nikki” will probably be seen as the years go by.

If Barker went the route that the studio tried to talk him into, where he gave Bear a redemption arc and became the hero of the story. I don’t think his character would’ve been as memorable or would stand out in the way Nikki did as a character, and people would easily overlook the lessons that are meant to be learned in this narrative.

Do you think if Bear didn’t say this, Ian might’ve humoured him?

“I need you to wish, that I never made a wish. And then you can be with Nikki.”

I feel like hearing that just pissed Ian off, where he’s probably thinking this whole thing is Bear’s weird way of trying to get back at him for not telling Bear about him and Nikki hooking up. But it also blows Ian's mind how much Bear is dehumanizing her.

Even though Bear wasn’t doing a great job at communicating why he needs this to happen, I think he might’ve played along if that line didn’t trigger Ian.

All the reasons why Bear would suck as a legitimate BF to Nikki (or Sarah)!

From the very beginning of the story, one of the reasons why he wants to be with Nikki is amounted to more on what she can do for him, rather than thinking about what he can do for her that she’d view him as a partner that any girl would be lucky to have. So too much dependence where he expects his partner to fulfill his happiness is one!

He would be an absolute nightmare when it comes to communicating issues his partner may have, since any time people try to call him out on things he quickly likes to be in denial and gets very defensive about being held accountable for his actions. His massive victim complex would drive his partner crazy to the point where he’s seen as an energy vampire.

He lacks any form of ambition in his life, and seems to be completely fine with being so comfortable with his usual routine that he’s not willing to take risks or think about wanting some thing better where giving his loved ones a better life comes to mind. Girls lean more towards guys who are adventurous, are determined to achieve success and are motivated to become better versions of themselves.

Also because he’s more interested in having his own needs fulfilled that he lacks emotional intelligence, he would never consider or think about what he can do in order to help take care and make sure his partners needs are fulfilled and if his partner has a problem with it. He would view it as something that’s more of their own problem, and they shouldn’t expect him to do something on how he can make them more happy. So essentially, he’d be one of those guys who not only thinks scoring the girl is enough and the hard work stops, but doing the bare minimum would also be an issue.

If there is anything else I’ve missed on, feel free to comment!

If Daredevil is not in the fifth Spider-Man movie, I will accept we’re never getting this team up! 😞

As much as people won’t admit it, I think most people have been Bear in at least one point in their lives!

Which I think also really factors into why people have come to hate him so much, and rightfully call him out as the real villain of the story!

Whenever we watch certain moments Bear goes through, there is a part of us that can relate to it because it feels familiar like we’ve been in that position ourselves! But what I love so much about this movie is that us being given a visual on this, makes us reflect on how much having a mindset similar to his is not okay and is incredibly narcissistic and selfish.

We’ve all had those moments where we’ve wanted to feel loved by that one particular person that we thought would fulfill our happiness, and would solve all our problems. But didn’t think much about who they are as a person, and were more infatuated by the idea or fantasy that we set in our heads about them. I know, because this was something I was also guilty of growing up from middle to high school.

If you have a mindset like that, you don’t understand what love truly means and you aren’t ready to be in a relationship! Focusing more on your self-worth and having values where you feel comfortable with rejection and don’t take it personal is a very important trait to have, and I’m sure it took a while before most people maturing understood that. Whereas Bear didn’t.

Are they the most toxic friend group you’ve ever seen in a movie?

I do agree that they were a toxic friend group, with each one of them showing different signs where they aren’t the greatest people. With Bear being viewed by the audience as the worst of them all, because we spend more time with him and don’t really get to know the real Nikki all that much because she’s trapped in a trance.

But I have seen much worse in other movies like Unfriended being one of the biggest examples!

What movie had the most toxic friend group?

Unfriended (2014) had the worst group of friends I think I’ve ever seen in a movie, so far!

Like my god! I know that they’re all supposed to be teenagers, but the things that these people did to each other and others was diabolical! They not only spread rumours about each other, one stole $800 from the other, one was willing to trade the others life to save their own, then that same person who is without a doubt the worst of the bunch roofied a girl outside this friend group then forced her to get an abortion and also slept with his best friend’s girlfriend (who is also supposed to be the lead character of this movie, and the way she cries and acts like she is the victim after being caught blows my mind!)

I was honestly rooting for Laura’s ghost the whole time (who committed suicide after being bullied by this same group of friends)! However, I kinda wish she left Blaire alive so that she could live with the consequences of her actions!

Jack Quaid on the comparison between Bear from Obsession and Josh from Companion “they share a lot, and thank you for comparing them.”

He does however find that his character; Josh is more on the surface of not being a good person and doesn’t seem to hide it in the way Bear does. Which I guess makes sense in a way where Josh showed it a lot through his attitude, while Bear came across as an awkward person his cowardice is what makes him a bad person

Of all the many new characters they've introduced post-Endgame, who is a character that you think Marvel has made good use of?

There is a lot of discussion on characters that haven't been handled well, and are being left in the dark because Marvel isn't sure what to do with them (like the Eternals, Kate Bishop, Monica Rambeau, etc. for example) now that they aren't focusing so much on quantity and are being more selective in order to make more quality projects!

But I'm curious to hear what characters (especially ones that are new), that you think Marvel has handled well in developing since the Infinity saga ended going into the Multiverse saga!

Yelena Belova I think is the best example of a new character that was introduced following Endgame, and her narrative has not only been well paced and consistent. But it also helps how Marvel recognizes Florence Pugh's talent and charisma enough for them to know that she has it in her to be one of the MCU's leads, where she can make people feel invested in the franchise again! At first, she seemed like one of those characters that we might not see again for a long time (like how it took over 10 years before we saw characters like Samuel Sterns/The Leader and Betty Ross again in Captain America: Brave New World), but then quickly elevated her way up to the top of the list of characters they want to prioritize.

It bothered me how Robby clearly favoured Miley over Jackson, and he barely learned from this when called out on it!

In that one episode where the kids’ grandma visits them, Miley is bothered by how Jackson is always given more attention but is oblivious to the fact that the reasoning for this is because of how much Robby always puts her first while Jackson’s needs always come last!

Even when Robby (and Miley) are put on the spot, he still shows signs that he will always put his daughter first. Like in that one episode where Jackson is forced to cancel his plans and drive Miley and Lily around to go shopping, and Robby doesn’t even try to defend his son’s case or get her to understand where he’s coming from.

It’s like he’s encouraging this entitled mindset onto Miley, where she is always expecting people to give her attention and be inconsiderate about other people’s lives.

Analyzing Evil: Georgia Miller from Ginny & Georgia

I just finished watching this series yesterday, and Georgia Miller is such an interesting case IMO! The show was a bit cringy at first, but with each season the writing got so much better that I became fascinated by how they developed her character. This woman does some pretty despicable things to the point where it becomes questionable if she is a sociopath, yet at the same time she’s layered to the point where she has humanity where she shows signs that she’s capable of change. But still shows signs of having narcissistic tendencies, where she feels she can get away with committing actions that hurt others if she has a “valid” excuse for it!

'Ginny & Georgia' might be an example of a show that greatly improves its quality with each new season!

I started watching this show at the beginning of this past week, because I was bored and was looking for something new to watch and I came across it when I was going through recommendations on my Netflix account! I heard all about it through social media, my mom and my sister are fans of it, and I still remember how cool it was when I was at a Raptors game and Georgia's actress; Brianne Howey was one of the celebrity guests there and despite being an American is a big fan of our Canadian sports teams!

At first, I thought it was going to be one of those cringey teen drama shows (and it did start off that way at first), but with each new season I was so impressed with how well they handled the writing for these characters and felt heavily invested to see more of the story unfold. Every character is written to be morally grey that you understand where everyone comes from, but also understand that they're still in the wrong for how their actions still hurt and affect other people. It reminded me a bit of the experience I went through watching Bojack Horseman (only that show is still higher up in quality in comparison in my opinion)

Plus I love how at the beginning of the show, Georgia was introduced as a sociopath while we sympathize with her daughter Ginny on how her mom's actions affected her badly growing up! Yet by the end of Season 3, we see that while Georgia is heading down the right path of having a redemption arc, Ginny is transforming into a new version of her mom!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens next in the fourth upcoming season!

Who are two characters from a movie or show that you believe should’ve been a couple?

One example that I find really fits in this category is Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry’s portrayals of Wolverine and Storm for the X-Men movies!

I was never a fan of how Logan was always trying to pursue Jean Grey, when he knew from the moment he met her that her and Cyclops were already a couple and his interest is another part of what puts Logan at odds with him.

Storm was not only single, but she was insanely attractive and clearly showed hints that she had an interest in him. I think they would’ve made a great couple if they didn’t give him a love triangle storyline involving him, Jean and Scott (Cyclops)

"Loving someone for the idea of them, but not loving them for who they are as a person." seems to be a very common trope I notice in movies! Which movie character represents the biggest example of this?

Whenever I think really hard about some of these movies that have that "romantic" storyline, or someone is trying to pursue someone or is interested in them where they see that person as "the love of their life." I notice how there seems to be a big pattern, where if you really think hard about the context of the character and their situation with the person they claim to be in love with. They seem to be more drawn to loving the idea of who they think that person is to them, and what they can do to satisfy their own needs. Rather than loving that person for who they truly are, and it makes you question whether that relationship sets a good example on what it means to have a healthy and compatible connection.

The reason I ask this, is because I saw a post the other day where someone brought up how Bruce Wayne from the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy was actually more in love with the idea of Rachel Dawes because he viewed her as his only hope with having a normal life. Which is something she even warned him personally not to do, but despite telling him that he can't expect her to wait for him. He doesn't listen, and needed to keep believing she would.

If there are any other examples you can think of, I'd like to hear them and your takes!

How will Born Again be affected by the events of Doomsday & Secret Wars?

After Season 3, will they pause the series for a bit or end it where we’ll likely get a new series but is still continuing from where the storyline left off. Yet is still affected by the events of the Avengers movies.

Because if the rumours are true, and the MCU is softly rebooted, it clearly has to also affect the street level storylines since it has become more clear that they definitely take place in this universe. Whereas back in the Netflix era, it was very questionable.

Any other characters who are also guilty of loving someone for the idea of them, rather than who they are as a person?

I feel like this is a common trope that we see in a lot of movies, but in curious to see if anyone can think of other answers!

500 Days of Summer I already know is one of the biggest examples hands down!

Bridgit Mendler’s career trajectory seriously needs to be studied!!

The fact she managed to do all of this with getting into really tough competitive schools, while having a career as a teen actress and singer will always blow my mind!!

It makes me convinced that she NEVER sleeps!

Matt and Frank having a conversation about their encounters with the Hulk would be a hilarious one!

Matt not only had a very chill and relaxing BBQ with Hulk and his family, but he also met and boned his hot cousin that's really into him!

Meanwhile, Frank would be so confused over how he managed all of that, while him and Spider-Man both almost died fighting the Hulk together! (as seen in the TV commercials for Brand New Day!)
