Do I still need to soak?
Bought 2 bare root roses that unfortunately arrived while I was away for 2 weeks, so they spent an extra week in the wrapped plastic bag surrounded by whatever they pack it with (peat moss??). The instructions say it’s important to soak them in water for 12-24 hours so they get a good drink but I can see there’s already buds forming and the bag they came in was still nice and damp when I unpacked them today so I’m assuming they were drinking the moisture from that. When I rinsed them in this bucket I could see lots of fine white roots forming too. I’m just impatient and want to plant them now! 😅
Some of my favourites from these autograph books from the turn of the last century
Do you guys digitally touch up your [analog] collages sometimes?
And if so, what do you use?
Glue residue ruining it 😭
Do me do me do me!!!! 31F, I’ve read a lot of these but there’s still some I’m working on.
Ive noticed the type of story i love reading is a young woman (or person) faces hardships in life but comes out on top. Clan of the cave bear, Ugly, where the crawdads sing, white fang, a fortunate life etc are some favourites.
You’ve heard of tiny vinyl, may I present: whatever the fuck this is 😍
Just joined the sub and very keen to deep dive some of these books!! This one is my recc for weird girl lit. Han Kangs “The Vegetarian”
Has anyone else read this? Took me a while but I did end up enjoying it quite a lot.

Currently on holiday visiting family - wasn’t able to bring my scissors or scalpel on the airplane for obvious reasons so having to make do with some crappy cheapies I got from the newsagency. I did find an exceptional amount of cool old magazines and 1950s nat geos in my late grandfathers eclectic hoard.. most of my weight limit coming home will be those 🥴
Exploring my late grandfathers museum sized collection of oddities/ ephemera/ collectibles and found a tin of old gramophone (?) needles. Didn’t realise they’d be made of wood. Kinda cool old relic
I used to collect and raise monarchs as a kid at my grandmothers, now at 31 my first babe is almost ready to pop!
14 hour difference between pics. I’m meant to fly to New Zealand tomorrow morning but I’m driving up the coast today… do you think it’ll emerge in the next few hours? I don’t want to miss it 😭
Does anyone else experience a brief, sharp stabbing pain that occurs when you jolt awake?
Diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea last year. I only had 3 apneas, 1 central, 1 obstructive and 1 mixed, but then shitloads of hypopneas (128). The sleep specialist I spoke to questioned me about my mental health and essentially put almost everything down to anxiety related issues, he even said something along the lines of “you can try cpap therapy if you want but your oxygen levels didn’t dip too hard”. I thought maybe my antidepressants (mirtazapine) were exacerbating my symptoms as I’ve had weird sleep stuff going on for many years but the severity and sharp uptick in occurrences happened about a year after getting on them. Slowly weaned off but I’m still experiencing symptoms. Not multiple times every single night like when I was on mirt, but definitely more often than not (at least once or twice every few nights, some nights nothing, some nights multiple episodes).. it’s almost like I’m half concious and can feel my body “shut down”, then I jerk awake and it can take a second before I am able to take that first gasp of a breath. Sometimes when this happens I get a terrible sharp pain deep inside my head right in the middle/ just above my brainstem / lizard brain area. Only lasts a few seconds. Then sometimes during these episodes the left side of my body may get tingly, especially my hands and feet. Sometimes my hand cramps up for a second and that freaks me the fuck out because it feels neurological - my mother died of brain cancer when I was 16 so anything related to my brain feels really scary.
I’m getting an MRI at the end of July, just to put my anxieties at ease and to confirm I’m not riddled with brain tumors.. and I am willing to try CPAP if I have to.. just want to see if anyone else has experienced similar symptoms?
Cowboy Dan [analog]
Really enjoyed making this one… inspired by the modest mouse song of the same name.
My favourite dahlia from about a month ago
She was only small as it’s winter here in Aus but I loved the white patch
Death as a Sacred Act (Deaths Temple and His Angels) [analog] aspect ratio was weird so it got cropped :(
Am I the only one who hates seeing isw ads where the person seems to really only want the “easy” stuff?
And they often advertise themselves as “qualified” but refer only to their wwcc/ first aid/ ndis screening as the qualification… like duh, everyone is required to have those things. Admittedly the cert 3 doesn’t mean much but at least it shows you’re proactive and trying. If you can’t be bothered to do an easy tafe course to brush up on some of your knowledge/ skills then what does that say about your commitment to the industry? I dunno, maybe I’m just tired but it frustrates me how few workers are willing to do personal care or work with more complex participants, or even treating SW like an “easy side gig”.
Edit to add: I should probably just have said support workers in general, not just isw. And that’s also not to say all, or even most are like this. But there’s definitely a demographic that are.
Lou Hazel - County Clown [folk, alt-country] (2025)
His new(ish) album Riot Of The Red is 100% my favourite album I have on vinyl. He’s not very big but if you like gentle, pensive folk/ country music you may enjoy this. This one’s been my fave off the album. Love the video too.
