What is THE BEST treatment polish (like Nail Veil)?

I am terrible at painting my nails and also have weak, sad nails that really need extra TLC. I like treatment polishes like Londontown’s Kur Nail Veils. (OPI’s Nail Envy treatment polish sadly let me down).

In your opinion, what is the best, most foolproof of these products? Bonus for even, non-streaky application and some nice pink shades.

How to support reading at home?

My child has been diagnosed with dyslexia. What are some ways you have found it’s helpful to support reading and build confidence at home? I’m especially interested in “fun” reading (subjective, I know!) rather than academic reading. My child loves reading even though he struggles.

Thank you.

Best truly soft, stretchy jeans for tall women

I am a teacher and need some truly stretchy jeans that are comfy and move with me. I’m looking for a straight, slim, or skinny (but not skintight!) cut. Also, I’m 5’10”, so long/tall inseam options are a must. Any recommendations are much appreciated!

For those who can’t tolerate Eucerin or hydroquinone—has anything else worked for your melasma?

I have super sensitive skin with rosacea, and I have unfortunately had redness, irritation, and barrier disruption with both of these powerful ingredients. I’d love to hear if anyone, particularly people with sensitive skin, have had results with anything else.

(I already use azelaic acid 15% twice a day, but haven’t seen a ton of pigment clearance with it at this point. I also use mineral-based SPF consistently!)

Inkey List Starter Retinol Experiences?

Does anyone have experience with the Inkey List Starter Retinol serum? I see that it has earned the National Rosacea Society Seal of Acceptance, which is really encouraging! It also has both granactive retinoid and retinaldehyde. I can’t tolerate tretinoin or adapalene, and even some of the “sensitive-friendly” retinols are too irritating for me, but I’m thinking of giving this a go. Would love to hear from anyone who has tried it.

The softest, most vibrant variegated worsted merino you can think of?

I’m looking for couple of soft, beautiful merino (or cashmere blend) skeins to make extremely cozy beanies. I’d like a true worsted if possible and not a DK. I want it to be variegated, and the colors to be truly vibrant.

Any suggestions? I have knitted a lot with Malabrigos, but find their colors sometimes bleed so much at first wash. I also loved Madeleine Tosh pre-acquisition, but their yarns tend to run lightweight IMO. I want something warm and thick. Indie yarns are a plus!

How did William know?

One unknown thing haunting me: how did William know what he knew about the contemporary world outside the inn? Like the dock project and the new cafe? It seems extra creepy.

Best stretchy pants for work

What are your best stretchy, comfy pants for work? Like any early childhood teacher, I’m sitting, I’m kneeling, I’m bending. I hate the feeling of dress pants and “hard pants” that pinch or bind. I really just want to wear PJ pants or yoga pants, but still want to look neat and professional to teacher standards when I wear the pants with a tshirt or cute top.

Must have:
- High waist
- Tall sizing option (I’m 5’11”)
- Machine wash and dry

Cannot have:
- Scratchy fabric that gives me the sensory ick

Forever bonus:
- Pockets

Please help me, ECE friends!

P.S. I have and like the Halara Linen-Feel Wide Leg pants, but I know they won’t work for winter. Open to recommendations for other Halara styles.

What drove teachers away from your school?

I’ll go first. Ruthless top-down micromanagement and a culture where no effort was ever good enough. Swathes of longtime highly qualified- to qualified-educators suddenly rated poorly, and new teachers hung out to dry, expected to meet shifting goals without support. I think it will be a tough year in that building.

What drove people away from your dysfunctional school?

Your favorite preschool attention-getters?

What callbacks or audio cues do you like to grab your class’s attention for transitions, etc.? I know some people like a doorbell or a chime. I used to use a rhythmic clap for kinder. Just looking for ideas.

Fragonard Fleur d’Oranger EDT is heavenly

This was recently recommended to me here as a lovely orange blossom fragrance. I just received and sprayed it, and it is truly amazing. Light and ethereal without being too intense, and just enough neroli to give it a fresh, naturalistic “green stem” dimension without being too bitter. It reminds me so clearly of the aroma that would waft through my neighborhood from orange trees blooming in the early springtime.

I love it so much! Highly recommend.

Remedy Science Dark Spot Serum

Looking for updated feedback on this product from the community. Has anyone had success using it? No success? So far my sensitive rosacea skin is tolerating it better than the Eucerin Dual Serum, so I have my fingers crossed 🤞

The Body Shop British Rose

Any thoughts on this scent? I just saw that it has been reissued, and the notes sound promising. I love the old Crabtree & Evelyn rose scents, and I’m wondering if this is similar (IYKYK). I prefer a naturalistic, fresh rose scent.

Green flags in a new school

After recently being burned by a school situation with rapidly-accumulating, waving red flags, I may have a path out. What are your top green flags that tip you off to a decent-to-good school culture/environment?

Which online service do you like for your hydroquinone?

Musely is so pricey, but I’ll do it if that’s the best option! Just curious about alternative services—price, experience, etc. Would also love to hear about your Musely experience and if you feel it has been worthwhile.

Still pulling for Tristan and Florence

I’ll say it—I think they had much better chemistry than he does with Charlotte. I don’t expect Flo to return to the story, but I would love it if she did! Since Tristan is a composite/fictional character anyway, maybe there’s hope yet. ☺️ I feel like that could be a very fulfilling post-war relationship arc.

Anyone else still rooting for these two?

Light orange blossom and neroli fragrance?

Looking for a fragrance with sunny orange blossom and neroli notes. I generally enjoy Provençal and Mediterranean type fragrances, and I’m hoping to find something softer rather than harsh citrus. I’m a teacher, so I’m looking for something light that doesn’t project too far. Can anyone suggest a perfume?

Women’s size 10.5: try 41 or 42?

This is my first pair of real Birkenstocks, and I’ll be going with the Florida. If it helps, I had to size up to 11 in the Project Cloud copycats because my foot was too long for the 10 footbed (my heel was just hitting the edge of the heel cup). I’d say my feet are medium width.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Play therapist recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a play therapist in the Aurora/Centennial area? My young child has been referred for ADHD and anxiety.

(I know this is the Denver subreddit, but I am trying to cast a wide net for this specialized request! Thanks for any help you can give.)

Your favorite teacher tote bag?

I need a new teacher tote! I’m using the actual name-brand “Teacher Tote”, and I like its size/capacity and the fact that it has pockets, but it has these hard, narrow PVC straps that are killing my shoulder. I do need something big enough to take teacher guides and folders home without bending/destroying them (I’m a first-year teacher and still unfortunately need to do that for now).

P.S. I tried a backpack; it didn’t work well for me personally. Tote form factor meets my needs.
